Darcy Hart is a people pleaser, when he is asked last minute for a doll by his adorable six year old nephew Dustin, he of course, says yes. However, Darcy faces a dilemma, the particular doll he needs is sold out everywhere. Darcy makes one last attempt to get the doll at a local toy store, and finds out they have only one left in stock, but he also finds out he is not the only person interested in claiming the doll.

Neala and Darcy go way back, playing in each other’s play pens kind of way back. They are not friends, more like mortal enemies, and both of them wanting a single doll was the start of a series of events that no one could have predicted, not even Father Christmas himself.

Darcy had the box against his chest with both hands on it. His fingers tapped against the box while a smug smile stretched across his face.

He glanced to the snowmen gathered around my feet and teased, “You’ve got to watch your step, sweetheart.”

I blew out a frustrated breath. “I swear if you don’t give me that bloody doll I’ll-”

“You’ll what?” Darcy cut me off, his smug smile still in place on his handsome face.

Damn him.

“I’ll shove me foot so far up your arse you’ll need a surgeon to remove it.”

Darcy’s eyes widened. “You’re a foot shorter than me, and at least fifty pounds lighter. You’re a tiny little thing, Neala Girl. I’m not scared of you. You can’t hurt me.”

He was so wrong.

“I can hurt you, and I will unless you give me the doll.”

Darcy raised an eyebrow and snorted. “How about… no.”

Bastard!

I curled my lip into a sadistic grin. “Okay, you asked for it.”

Darcy shook his head at me and moved forward so he could brush by me. “I don’t have time for- What the hell?”

When Darcy was close enough to do so I manoeuvred my body behind his, hooked my arms around his chest and searched for his nipples with my hands. When I found them, I grabbed them between my index fingers and thumbs and pinched.

“Me nipples, let go of me nipples!” Darcy cried.

I growled and tweaked his nipples a little harder. “Let go of the doll, and I’ll let go of your nipples.”

There’s a sentence I never thought I’d hear myself say.

A bang on my door interrupts me just as I’m about to come. I groan and compose myself as the banging continues. I fix my clothes and then stand up, walking over to the door to release the lock.
Ryan stalks in, annoyed. He throws a glare in my direction.

“You were supposed to have the Ferriman and Legana accounts to me yesterday. Do you know how much money the company will lose if they walk?” He laughs, throwing his hands up as he sinks into my chair, behind my desk. “Wait, what am I talking about? Since when do you care what the fuck is happening with this company?”

“Hello to you too, Ryan,” I reply smoothly.

“No, don’t give me that,” he rants angrily. “Everyone else might tiptoe around you because you’re a psycho son of a bitch, but I’m done. Either you put into this business that I’ve worked my ass off to keep afloat, or get out.”

“You forget that I own 51% of your precious company,” I point out, leaning against the window. “And if you had checked your email before you came storming in here, you’d see the two files you requested are sitting in your inbox.”

I watch, amused, as he whips out his phone, not bothering to hide my satisfaction as embarrassment begins to resinate on his face.

“It’s still late,” he sulks, not meeting my eyes.

“What is this really about?” I ask. “We both know I do more than my fair share to bring business into the company, yet your always on my back.”

“Because you’re a pathetic little cunt who gets away with everything,” he retorts, his face going red. He glances at my laptop, at Charlotte who is still lying on her bed. “Perfect example. You invest more time in your little whores, yet somehow everything works out for you. This one must be new. I haven’t seen her before,” he adds, studying Charlotte again.

I reach over and close the laptop.

“Maybe your attitude toward me is misplaced jealousy,” I say. His eyes darken and I grin. Just the reaction I was hoping for. “I mean, you’re stuck at home with a woman you don’t really love raising three kids who resent you.”

“I’m warning you, Jaxon. Don’t go there,” he says, gritting his teeth.

“Take your empty threats and get the fuck out of my office.” I speak in a calm voice, my eyes not leaving his. “You lost any chance of me respecting you the day you decided to fuck my mother.”

He rises from my chair. “You need to let that go, Jaxon. It was one time, and it was a mistake. If your father could forgive me, then why can’t you?”

“Did your wife forgive you? Oh wait,” I pause, smirking. “She never found out, did she? And what about your kids? That pretty daughter of yours must be pushing eighteen right?”

He walks over to me and lodges his forearm against my neck. I grin, which only infuriates him more.
“Stay the fuck away from my family, Jaxon, or I swear on my life—”

“What?” I taunt. “You kill me? Your precious little girl will be legal in a few weeks, Ryan. I’ve seen the way she looks at me. If I gave her the time of day you know she’d spread those legs for me in a second. You think you know what I’m capable of? You don’t know shit. Your tiny brain couldn’t even comprehend some of the kinky, degrading shit I’ll have her doing for me.”

The blast of a .38-caliber revolver sends me crashing to my knees, landing in the road, with gravel digging deep into the flesh of my knees.

“This is your fault,” the deep voice growls as I spit blood onto his filthy boots. Narrowing his eyes, he wraps my hair securely around his hand and yanks my head back, hard, while his other hand tightens around my throat, squeezing. “You’re going to pay for this if it’s the last thing I do, you stupid bitch.”

He lets go of my neck and shoves me down to the ground so my face is pressed into the gravel, his boot crushing into the back of my skull. Dirt and rocks dig into my left eye, making it even harder to see through the tears. I desperately look for the man that hasn’t only crushed then stolen my heart just to crush it again, but has also replaced a part of me that I thought was long ago lost.

Realizing that my search is pointless, I just lay there defeated, feeling half-alive, but mostly dead. “Go ahead,” I whisper. “See if you can hurt me anymore than you already have.
