Synopsis

After another painful breakup, Laney Temple finally understands that love is a fairytale and sex rarely comes with a happy ending. She’s too busy for it right now anyway–she has a business to run, art to create, and candy to crush. Eventually she’ll be ready to switch from her plastic-or-silicon lover to a flesh-and-blood one. But before that happens, she needs to be sure she won’t feel any of those annoying emotions that make her heart do things it wasn’t meant to do…

Like break

Carson Bennett is completely upfront about what he wants, and it has nothing to do with Laney’s heart. Her lips? Hell yeah. Other parts of her body? You better f*cking believe it. But her heart? Nope, not even a little. Until it does…a lot. But having feelings for someone isn’t allowed. It’s the kind of thing you’re supposed to push down deep and cover up with one-night stands, sarcasm, and booze…

Like secrets

Two people want the same thing–a commitment to nothing more than great sex in a bunch of different positions. Simple. Enjoyable. A win-win. Problem is, those two people have families and fears and pain that spill into every moment of their lives, control what they do and who they are. And if either Carson or Laney can’t free themselves from the past, they’ll both be pulled under by it.

*** Darker Water is a stand-alone contemporary romance that does not end in a cliffhanger.

Review

After Laney’s latest ‘prince’ turns out to be a lying, cheating frog she decides to give up on men and love altogether as she no longer believes it truly exists. When the sexy and funny Carson tells her he wants her in a purely physical, let’s-just-have-lots-of-sex way Laney reconsiders her ban on men if she can just have a purely physical relationship with Carson. And considering both are suffering from pasts that mean neither want the commitment, they both think they have the perfect solution. Until that pesky thing called emotions starts rearing its head…
“Princes didn’t exist, happy endings never happened, love was all make-believe.”
What a breath of fresh air this story was. It was a romance, like a modern day fairytale with huge amounts of laughter thrown in. I really enjoyed it and loved Carson and Laney’s story. I laughed and smiled continuously, I raged when these two couldn’t work it out, I cried when I heard Carson’s past and I cheered when they would both moved in a way that meant they could possibly end up together.
Carson was amazing!! He wasn’t only so bloody sexy and a guy that knew what to say to get a girl all hot and bothered but he was absolutely hilarious as well and his and Laney’s banter together just made this story! I loved how honest he was, even if it was a harsh truth sometimes and how upfront he was with Laney. And I was devastated when we found out his past and was shouting at my kindle when he thought he would turn into a monster just like the men in his past were.
“Seriously. I’m a complete asshole who only cares about what he can get from someone. Take you, for example. I saw you sitting here alone, no ring, great body. And thought, ‘I want to fuck her.’ And yeah, those were the exact words that went through my head.”
Laney was a women we could all relate to I think. We’ve all been there, kissed a lot of frogs and sometimes lost hope that we won’t find the man we could spend the rest of our lives with. But Laney never truly gave up and went about it in such a great way that meant she ended up having lots of sex with Carson (who I definitely wouldn’t say no to). She was just as hilarious and gave it back to Carson just as good as he gave it. She was brave and strong when she admitted to feelings that she knew could mean the end of things with them and she was a woman who truly deserves her happily ever after.
“It’s just a warning—if you turn out to be more than just a selfish bastard, you should expect to be castrated.”
I loved how the story starts and end with the “Once Upon A Time” sections, I thought they opened and concluded the story really well and the authors imagination for all the jokes and banter between the two leads means I would love to meet her!! The writing was brilliant, the plot line was great; it was funny and beautiful and sad and hot and exciting, everything that a modern day fairytale needs. And I now look forward to reading the others in the series about all the other characters we met.
“Shit, I wanted all of it. Maybe it was her damage that made her so interesting, I didn’t know. That I enjoyed talking to her was an unexpected perk. But my rules were my rules, and I wouldn’t—couldn’t—break them for anyone.”

SYNOPSIS:

Perfection is an

illusion fueled by the perception of others.

****

Tweet was my heart, my soul, and my

purpose.

She was my

everything.

Neither of us were

perfect. We both made mistakes. Looking back, that was okay, because every

choice brought us to where we needed to be at the time we needed to be there.

The one constant, our love and friendship.

There are two sides

to every story and I wouldn’t trade our sides for anything in the world.

Here’s

the GR link for Presently Perfect

EXCERPT:

             A large

hand came down and landed on my shoulder, causing my umpteenth beer to slosh

over the sides of the red cup. “What the fuck?”

I

bounced slightly when Travis plopped down on the sofa next to me. “Hey

buddeeey. How’s my buddeeey?” he slurred, sliding his upper body along the back

of the sofa closer to me.

I

glanced over and threw him a lazy smirk.

With

a cocked eyebrow and lopsided grin, he informed me, “I gotta surprise that’s

gonna make that smile and other parts of you grow bigger.”

“You’re

making me really uncomfortable,” I said, leaning away.

“There

are two lovelies that want to spend time with our pulsating masculinity. Their

names are Heather and Melanie.”

Travis’s

head flopped to the side, his gaze and wave aimed at a cute blonde and brunette

standing across the room.

“They’re

all yours, buddy. I’m not in the mood.” I downed more of my beer.

His

head rolled back toward me. “Heather won’t leave Melanie. They travel in pairs.

I want to get my hands on Heather’s pair, so you get in the mood.”

“I’m

sure your immense charm will pry her away.”

“Come

on. Be a friend.”

“Sorry,

not tonight.”

Glaring

at me, he bit out, “Not tonight… then what fucking night? I’d like to put that

date on my calendar so I can stop wasting my time.”

“What’s

your problem?”

“You’re

my problem. You and this pussy-whipped, no balls, coochie slave attitude you’ve

been sporting around for months instead of a rock-hard dick.”

“Fuck

you! You don’t understand.”

I

pushed off the sofa, stumbling a few steps toward the back door. I needed some

air and to get away from Travis’s bullshit. The room spun, and then I spun as

Travis grabbed my upper arm, turning me to face him.

“I

understand. You’ve been hung up on this fucking girl ever since I’ve known

you.”

My

fingers curled into fists as I got in his face and snarled, “Don’t you ever

refer to her as this fucking girl.”

Travis

took a step back, ran his hands over his face, and huffed in frustration.

“What’s the deal? I thought I was finally getting my friend back. You see her

for like two seconds today and it sends you into a fucking tailspin. You gotta

get past this.”

I

could see the sincerity in his eyes. He wasn’t telling me these things in anger

or because he didn’t like Tweet. He knew I was in a constant struggle and he was

being a friend.

“I’m

trying,” I whispered.

“Try

harder, dude.”

“I

don’t know how.” It was pathetic how weak and defeated my voice sounded.

After

seeing Tweet earlier, the rest of the day had been spent replaying the few

seconds encounter over and over in my head. She looked incredible except for

the sadness in her eyes. A pang of guilt pinched my stomach because I was glad

to see that sadness. It meant she was as miserable as I was. She disappeared in

a flash but I didn’t need a lot of time in order to take her all in. Her hair

was that summer mixture of dark brown and gold. The light sprinkle of red

across her nose and cheeks was either a result of being at the beach or seeing

me. I hoped it was the latter. She had on a plain white tank top and a pair of

black shorts that were molded to her adorable round ass. Tweet was the only

girl I knew who could wear the plainest clothes, little makeup, and still look

like a supermodel. The memory of her hips swaying back and forth as she darted

away had my dick twitching. I turned from Travis and headed out the back door,

needing that air more now than before.

Once

outside, I propped myself up against the house, closed my eyes, and sucked in

all the oxygen my lungs could handle.

I

need to get her out of my head.

There

were a few people hanging out around the pool so I concentrated on them. That

was a dumbass move because most of them were hooking up. Sounds of kissing,

moaning, giggling, and more moaning filled my ears. I shifted my attention to

the sounds coming from inside the house. Another dumbass move. The only thing I

could hear was the pounding music, which made me think of Tweet’s swaying hips,

which made me think of grabbing those hips and pounding into… I had to get out

of there.

As

I shoved off of the wall, the back door swung open, Travis stepped out, and

headed over toward me.

“It

kills me to see you like this.” He paused, his eyes shifting from me to

something over my shoulder. “I didn’t want to say anything because I don’t play

into the rumor bullshit.”

“What

are you talking about?”

His

expression showed how much he was struggling with whether or not to continue.

“I heard Amanda is hooking up with some guy.”

My

brows scrunched together as my jaw went slack. A small chuckle of disbelief escaped me. “Why are you telling me this?”

“Because

I care about you. You’re like a brother to me. Noah, stop pissing your life

away waiting for something that’s not gonna happen.”

Glancing

away, I shook my head, and said, “It’s a fucking lie.”

“How

do you know?”

My

eyes pierced his. “She wouldn’t do that.”

“Why

not?”

“Because

she’s my Tweet!” I screamed.

Out

the corner of my eye, I could see the people around the pool unhooking from one

another.

“She’s

not your anything! When are you going to get that through your fucking head?!”

I

lunged forward, landed both hands on Travis’s chest, and shoved. He stumbled

back, but made no move to come after me.

“I’m

not going to fight you, man.”

“Who’s

the no-balls pussy now?!”

I

shoved.

He

stumbled back.

Party

people scattered into the house.

“I’m

sorry,” he said, his voice full of pity.

I

shoved.

He

stumbled back.

And

then I tackled him to the ground.

I

landed one hard punch to his jaw before he flipped me onto my back, wrapped his

massive arm around my neck, and held me down. I jerked and twisted for several

seconds trying to break free of his hold. Finally, the alcohol and pain took

over and I gave up.

Pressing

the heel of my hands into my eyes, I choked back tears, and mumbled, “We’ve

shared all our firsts together.”

Synopsis

*** This book contains the GEGs! For those of you who don’t understand that warning: GEGs= strong language. gut-busting LOL moments caused by best friends who check their maturity at the door when they’re together, and impromptu Kegel exercises. This book does not come with batteries.

Though it can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the series in order since all books will have a continuation of EVERYONE’S story. Enjoy! ***

CiCi O’Brien has a weapon of mass destruction—her mouth. It’s always loaded and ready to strike, whether the situation calls for laughter or a professional smartass. It’s been her strongest defense against unwanted feelings over the past fifteen years. If she acts like she doesn’t care, then she won’t, right?

Yeah . . . keep telling yourself that, Ceese!

Luckily for CiCi, she’s surrounded by friends and family who can easily see through her façade. They (and the furballs she takes care of at work) are who enrich her life, have been the ones she’s needed. That is, until the day her life changed—when she grabbed it by the balls.

No, seriously . . . she grabbed him by the balls. Not kidding.

Kyle Cooper has it all. He’s smart, handsome, and a ninja (not really, but that’s what Mitch likes to call him). As vice president of Colton Technologies, he travels around the world with Mitch, bringing companies the latest innovations in automobile technology. At home, he’s a force to be reckoned with, always hanging out with his parents and sister or . . . working.

Oh.

Kyle Cooper does not have it all, and he’s ready for a change. He just isn’t sure where to begin. That is, until CiCi O’Brien walks into his office and grabs this bull by the . . . horns (wink), which causes a spark to ignite in both of them. Kyle embraces it. CiCi does everything, short of calling the fire department, to put it out. Who will prevail? And what will that win truly mean?

Author Bio

I am a domestic engineer (born and raised in NJ) whose sole responsibility is to guide three young, impressionable kids into becoming phenomenal adults. This challenging yet rewarding work requires a lot of love (coffee), patience (wine), and determination (periodic exorcisms). I work this magic from the beautiful state of New Hampshire.

Before becoming a domestic goddess (not really), I spent over a decade in the medical field, where I wore more hats than the Queen.

I have loved the written word and the great escape it provides since I was a little girl. When I wasn’t reading about people and the places they lived, I was creating my own characters and adventures.

Finding myself again through my writing in The Lost & Found Series, The One, and The GEG Series has been nothing short of a dream come true. Also, it makes people feel better when I laugh randomly or talk to myself, knowing it’s my characters and not “the voices” . . . that would be creepy.

From the New York Times bestselling author of Jake Undone, comes a full-length companion novel.

A different side to the story: Jake’s side.

“We’re getting a new roommate,” they said.

I thought nothing of it…until she walked in the door. Her hand trembled in mine as she looked at me with fearful eyes. My entire world spun on its axis.

Nina…

It was a mismatch made in heaven: innocent girl from the boonies moves in with tattooed, pierced, badboy engineer.

I came up with a bet, a plan to tutor her in math and coach her through her phobias. What I wasn’t betting on was becoming addicted to her.

But I was living a double life on weekends, and once she found out about it, she’d be gone.

I had to protect myself and that meant one thing: I couldn’t fall in love.

VTT Prologue

Prologue:

Then he came along, and like a twisted piece of metal that’s burned beyond recognition, I emerged from the fire. Different. Changed.” –from the journal of Violet St. Lyons

This wasn’t happening.

Clad in a pair of red lacy bikini underwear—his favorite—I sipped on tequila—not my favorite—and glared at Sebastian Tate, sexy rock star and billboard model. Wearing low-slung jeans and nothing else, he paced around my chair in tight circles, his tall frame blocking most of my vision, the lion tattoo on his back heaving as he took deep breaths. Blonde and sporting faint stubble on his chiseled jawline, he looked like the heartbreaker the tabloids said he was.

Bad, bad boy.

But, oh, so good.

He sent me a hard look. Pissed.

From my living room in the Hollywood Hills, I gazed out the window at the Santa Monica Mountains, my eyes everywhere except on the glossy nude photos he clutched in his hand.

Of me. Of him.

Of us.

He swiveled his ice-blue eyes at me. Earlier today they’d burned with another kind of fire, but things change fast in Tinseltown. “These will be in the papers. Get ready,” he said, tossing down the pictures on the table, making me cringe.

I gazed down at them, my eyes lingering over one of us on my patio, him on his knees with his mouth between my legs as my body arched in ecstasy. My skin burned at the memory, echoes of the passion we’d shared—and now everyone in the world would see. My family. The society people in New York. The board of directors for the orphanage. My stomach heaved at the thought, bile threatening to rise up.

Another caught my eye, this one a full color close-up of me crying black mascara tears as I played my violin. Nude. It looked depressing as hell although in truth it had been love that made me emotional.

“Remind me to pass on the make-up next time. And to not have sex outdoors. Obviously,” I said, forcing my shoulders to move in a nonchalant shrug like I didn’t care, but he knew the truth. I was devastated by these.

And so was he.

Because we weren’t supposed to be together.

He said my name in that husky voice of his, the one that made me crazy, the one that made me want to rip his clothes off. “Violet—”

“Stop,” I said, clenching my fists. Because whatever he had to say didn’t matter. These pictures ruined us, ensuring that he’d leave me for her, the beautiful Bubble named Blair. Bubble, bubble, bubble. I wanted to pop her.

Why did I always come last with him?

I stood and faced him, tossing back the last of my shot. “First off, I wish we’d never met.” I held my hand up. “No. Wait. I don’t wish that because then I wouldn’t know Spider or Mila. I—I wish I’d never fallen in love with you. Loving means losing. Always. And I was stupid to forget it. I may have to sell this house and move to another freaking country to get away from you, but I’ll do it. I’ve done it before.” I sucked in a breath. “I’ll be fine without you.”

Lie. I would likely end up drunk on Mexican tequila, nursing what was left of my heart.

He closed his eyes, a dazed expression on his face as if my words crushed him.

“We were doomed from the very start,” I reminded him. “You want to be a star, and all I want is you.”

He stopped his pacing, a muscle jerking in his cheek as he leaned down until his nose was level with mine. “Then this is goodbye, Violet? You’re giving up on us already?”

Did I hear a break in his voice? Impossible.

“If I don’t say goodbye first, then someone else will.” Truth.

He’d never be mine, simply because he didn’t belong with me. I was a washed-up freak who had nothing but a mansion and a Maserati; he belonged on the silver screen with a pretty starlet on his arm.

We were over. Kaput.

I smiled, a bitter thing, and sashayed past him, enjoying the hiss of breath when I let my hand drift over his crotch. “This moment is begging for a soundtrack, don’t you think?” I said, coming to stop by the stereo system and cranking up Kurt Kobain’s Smells Like Teen Spirit. Holding my hands up in the horns rocking out signal, I bobbed my head to the beat while he watched, anger flickering across his face. I danced and twirled around, closing my eyes, the music vibrating through my body, my fingers itching for my violin.

Bam!

My eyes flew open. He’d strode over to me and clicked the stereo off, chest still heaving.

He shoved his hands in my hair and dragged my face to his, and I groaned at the fire that blazed in my body. I felt the warm heat of his skin and pressed closer and inhaled. He smelled like bourbon and sex—a rock star’s diet—and I panted, cursing myself at the same time.

How would I ever get over him?

He pressed his thumbs across my mouth. Gentle. But his voice was cold. “You can’t wait to high-tail it back to Manhattan to your lawyer boyfriend, can you?”

“I plead the fifth,” I said, staring at his full lips. I licked my own. “But you can kiss me goodbye if you want. I don’t mind.”

We stared at each other until he exhaled heavily and put his back to me, his muscles as taut as the guitar strings he played. He verged on breaking.

Yeah, well, welcome to my world.

Yet at the same time, I reached my hand out to him. Stupid hand.

But of course, he didn’t see it.

“So long, V,” he said soft as a whisper, staring at the ground as if I was breaking his heart, when all along it was the other way around. He took a step from me, then another, then another, until finally, he was nothing but a speck.

I clutched my chest and wanted to fall to the ground and rail on it. Alone. Again.

But tough girls like me didn’t cry over black-hearted boys.

Although in his defense, I owed him a thank you for saving me.

To show you, I’d have to start at the beginning, the day I lost everything.

Title: Beautiful Outlaw

Series: Savage Outlaws MC #2

Author: Emily Minton

Genre: Adult, MC Romance

Release Date: November 16, 2014

After the last fourteen years of surviving as a walking, talking, living doll, Laura feels dead inside.

She has sacrificed everything for her family, marrying a man she could never love. Her husband doesn’t beat her, doesn’t berate her. He transforms her, forcing her to live as a stand-in for his long dead wife. She stays silent as piece after piece of herself disappears, willing to do anything to protect the people she loves.

When his demands go too far, she finally tells her brother the ugly truth.

Wanting to protect her without putting the rest of their family at risk, he sends her to the one place he knows she’ll be safe. He places her into the hands of his best friend, Vice President of the Savage Outlaws MC.

Once again, she is transformed into someone new; Shay.

Bowie has spent many nights dreaming about his best friend’s little sister. The reality is so much sweeter than his dreams. He wants to be more for Shay, needs to protect her, but he’s not sure if he knows how.

Can an Outlaw show her how beautiful life should be?

I push Shay in front of my body. She tries to pull away, but I tighten my grip and lean down to whisper in her ear. “Don’t move.”

My voice has her shaking; her fear is so strong that I swear I can taste it, but this shit has to be done. Putting my hand under her chin and lifting her eyes to the crowd. I run my other hand up to cup her breast, making sure the boys get my point, as I start to talk. “Take a good look, brothers. This here is mine. If I even hear of one of you laying a finger on her, I will fuckin’ kill you.”

A few hoots and hollers fill the room, but I ignore them. I look around, just to be sure everyone understands. “I claim her as my property. She’s my Old Lady. Stay the fuck away from her.”

With that, I lower my hand from her face and place it on her arm. I pull her along as I make my way to my room. As soon as I step inside, I slam the door. Looking down at her, I lay out the rules. “Never fight me in front of those boys, and I mean fuckin’ ever. If you don’t like what I do, tell me when we’re alone. Throw all the sass you want behind closed doors, but never show anything but complete respect in front of them.”

Her face is hard. Instead of the tears I expected to see, her eyes are burning with anger. “So, I can say whatever I want right now?”

Her voice comes out in a hiss, as she crosses her arms. Every inch of her is vibrating with fury, and she looks hot as hell. I nod, trying not to crack a smile. “Yeah, any fuckin’ thing you want.”

She lifts a hand, point a finger at my chest. “Next time you decide to treat me like a piece of meat, give me a little warning. Tell me you’re about to parade me in front of a bunch of bikers and let them look their fill. Don’t scare the hell out of me like that.”

“Is that all?” I ask, still working to keep my laughter in check.

She moves forward, her finger now poking me. “I’ll treat you with respect, but you are going to do the same for me. I’ll play your little lap dog in front of your friends, but you better not do something like that to me ever again. If you do, I’ll be out of here and back at Nina’s before you can even blink an eye.”

The humor of the moment dies a fast death, and I reach down and grab her. Walking her back to the bed, I push her down and climb over her. As I cage her body below mine, I start to speak. “Never fuckin’ threaten me again. You’re not going to Nina’s or any damn where else. You’re mine, and you better never forget it.”

Review

Wow.  I read this a few days ago and I had to sit on it a bit and let it marinate before I wrote my feelings about it down.  This was a very different biker book than I have ever read before.  I love MC books and this one was really very good.  Emily Minton can definitely weave a good story.  I am still not sure if I love Bowie or not but even so, he was still sexy as all get out!

It is not often in a biker book where the woman is given to the biker for protection.  Usually she is hooked up with the biker is some kind of illicit way and I found this quite different and interesting.  At first Bowie doesn’t like Shay but eventually he sees “THE REAL” her and ends up head over heels.  This doesn’t mean he is nice to her.  He is still a big time asshole about ninety percent of the time.  Bowie does not have a lot of redeeming qualities which is perfectly fine, because this is an MC book and it is meant to be gritty and raw.  Even though Bowie is an asshole, he is still smoking hot and I found myself swooning despite myself.

“You’re mine, baby.  This pussy is mine.  Say it, Shay.”

We get to meet a lot of interesting characters in this first book in the series and I, for one, am pretty damn excited for Tin-Man’s story!  Another great MC book by Emily Minton!

Part I

Innocence

Past

What is love?

I don’t know.

I’ve never had it.

Is it even real?

No, I don’t think so. I mean, how can I believe in love when I’ve never witnessed it? When it seems to only exist in books and films, or in the lives of more fortunate people than me? Trust me, I know.

Love is my personal chimera.

I am gazing at brown eyes, admiring the richness of the color, the beauty of the man to whom they belong to.

“You’re so beautiful, Blaire … so wet,” he murmurs, his hand going between my legs as he begins to rub me. His fingers spread me open to their soft invasion, tuning my body to his wants and needs, preparing me to be taken as the hot friction of his touch lights a wild fire within my body. It’s not the first time he has touched me like this, but each time feels better and better—the sensations all-consuming and heady.

One finger.

Two fingers.

One finger.

Two fingers.

Over and over again.

His invasion is fast and slow, deep and shallow. His touch is soiled heaven.

As I open my legs wider for him, I wonder if it feels this good because of him or because I’m taking something that doesn’t belong to me and making it mine.

“Oh God … I love you, Blaire. I love you … I love you …” he pants in my ear.

“Don’t stop … it feels so good,” I breathe.

Okay, maybe it’s because at this moment in time this man thinks he loves me and no one else but me, however false his proclamation may be.

I close my eyes as his lips land on mine. He kisses me softly as if I’m made out of gold, kissing me with that familiar mouth I’ve seen smile tenderly at me so many times before. The assault of his tongue debilitates me but doesn’t incapacitate me.

Its four dollars, gorgeous, the cute barista says, smiling at me.

Im about to pay for my cappuccino when I hear a deep, manly voice say, Let me get that for you.

A man wearing a beige suit comes forward, standing next to me as he hands the barista some bills. Ive seen you around youre Paiges friend.

I smile, licking my suddenly dry lips. Thank you, and yes I know Paige.

The smile on his handsome face seems to freeze as his gaze follows the tip of my tongue, the spark of hunger brightening his eyes. Inwardly, I smile because who knew it was so easy to make men desire me, particularly when I went without attention for so long.

My pleasure. Are you,he coughs, here with someone else?

I shake my head and look at him through fluttering eyelashes. No, Im here all by myself.I pause, touching his arm invitingly, and smile. Would you like to join me?

He looks around the coffee shop, probably considering if he should, if its proper to do so, but less than five seconds later, hes staring at me once again. Sure.

Yes, just like that.

The beige walls are spinning.

The clock is ticking.

The bedsprings creak as the moon cries outside the motel window.

And the man above me kisses me while he fingers me, preparing me for him. Gotta love such a thoughtful man.

I can taste his sweet saliva mixing with mine, and I love it.

“Please,” I beg against his lips, reaching for his hard cock and wrapping my fingers around it. “I’m ready.”

I feel his mouth leave mine as he begins to make his way down my partially dressed body. “Are you sure, Blaire? Are you sure you want to do this with me?”

I open my eyes to witness what I think I want him to do. No, what I’m sure I want him to do. I can’t help the smile I feel playing on my lips as I see him struggling with his conscience. He asks me if I’m sure when he has already fucked my mouth with his cock countless number of times, when his fingers have filled every orifice of my body. Should I laugh? No … I decide to take pity instead.

“I’m sure, so sure,” I say, letting my arms land like dead weight on the bed, the cheap fabric rough against my skin.

“All right.”

When I feel the bed dip between my legs, I instinctively open them for him and watch as he brings a condom package to his mouth. As he rips it open with his teeth, I admire his perfect full lips that emphasize how masculine he is.

I feel pleased with myself.

So fucking pleased because he wants me.

Mr. Callahan wants me. Me. Can you believe it? Chubby Blaire. Ugly and awkward Blaire.

Unlovable Blaire.

I guess I’m not that ugly anymore. My body? What was considered fat as a child is now called boobs and ass. Guys want it. They want me. They want to touch me, grope me, feel me … they want to screw me. And it feels good to be wanted … so good. It makes me feel powerful, and like a potent drug spreading inside your bloodstream, I want more.

I need more.

“Hurry up,” I say, not bothering to be shy or coy about it. I mean, he brought me here to have sex, right?

“Fuck, give me a second, Blaire. Trying to get the damn condom on my dick.”
As he rolls the rubber on his stiff dick, his eyes wonder over my bare chest, my face, my spread legs. Shaking his head as if trying to clear his mind, he mutters, “You’re so beautiful. I want you so much.”

That’s not the first time I have heard those words come out of a man’s mouth. Josh tells me all the time how beautiful I am, how perfect I am, how much he wants me, how much he loves me. But he’s my friend with benefits. The words kind of lose their meaning when it’s the same person saying them to you over and over again.

“Show me.”

Those two words are all it takes for him to spread my legs wider with his hands and finally enter me with his throbbing dick. Pain shoots through my body, and a groan escapes my mouth when he covers my body with his. I feel his whole length inside me in one deep thrust.

“Christ, you’re so tight.”

He lifts both my legs, wrapping them around his lean waist and starts to thrust. Hard. It hurts. But I like the pain. It sobers me.

And that’s when reality comes crashing down on me. It hits me with the speed and blinding power of a torpedo, making me realize what I’m doing. What I’m giving away and the man doesn’t even know it.

What the hell am I doing?

Proving that you are your mothers daughter.

Making her proud.

The room is filled with the noises of the man grunting his pleasure and the wet slapping of our skin; it makes me want to gag.  I want to throw up. Maybe it’s the alcohol I drank.

Maybe it’s self-disgust.

The initial pain is gone and now I just feel sore. And strange.

His beautiful face lowers, his lips about to connect with mine, and I feel the bile rise inside my throat. I turn my face to the side, his kiss landing on my cheek. My eyes watch the way the lights in the bathroom illuminate all its used and dirty ugliness.

“Oh God, I’m going to come … I’m going to come … I’m going to come,” he continues to pant in my ear, pumping in and out of my body. Before I know what’s happening, he half-screams and half groans, his body going tense on top of mine.

And just like that it’s over. In less than five minutes I’ve managed to kill a part of me.

Our breathing evens and he pulls out, moving to stand up. I push myself up on my elbows to see him inspect his condom. It still glistens. By the time he lifts his eyes, connecting with mine, I’ve already wrapped my body with the duvet cover.

Confusion, shock, and pleasure reflect in those brown eyes. “I-I didn’t know … I …” His hands go to his hair as we stare at each other. “I didn’t know you were a virgin.”

I shrug my shoulder carelessly, causing the duvet to slide down, exposing my bare breasts to him. His eyes immediately flare with lust. “It doesn’t matter … I wanted it to be you.”

And that’s the truth.

“But—”

“But nothing. If it bothers you, then forget it happened. I already did,” I say, ending the conversation.

This is my body. I will have the last word. Not him. Not anyone. This is my life. This is my decision.

Without giving myself a chance to doubt my next words, I turn to look at him in all his naked beauty, the gold wedding ring on his finger catching my attention. “Don’t worry, Mr. Callahan … I won’t tell your daughter that you fucked her classmate.”

And with that, I seal my destiny.

I journey past the carved-by-hand eight-person table, and walk to the master bedroom. The white, canopy bed sits in the middle of the room. The barely see-through sheets that hang on the sides move and dance in the breeze. Whit walks quietly behind me, and I turn to look at her. Eyes wide, she takes in everything the house has to offer. Setting her soda down, she walks to the queen size bed and plops down.

“Would it be completely inappropriate if I jumped on the bed?” she prompts, looking reluctant.

I give a good belly laugh, and spread out my hands. “I’d be offended if you didn’t.”

She shoots up, takes her sandals off and, in one swift hop, she lands on the bed. Bending at the knees she bounces. I sit down in a white armchair across the room and watch her as she lets loose. This is another one of those moments that is so rare, that I feel the intense want to capture this moment forever. She jumps with glee, squeaking with happiness with each bounce. Every time her feet come off of the bed, her arms go into the air. Her long blonde hair bobs with each movement, and she pushes it out of her face, just like the way she did it that day I ran into her at the beach.

“Jump with me, Jennings.”

Any macho doucheface would tell her to keep jumping and have fun. That he would sit in the chair and watch. But, I want to keep her smile fully intact for as long as possible. So, I take off my slip-on, stitched loafers and approach the bed.

– If you notice the cover, it has a lot of clues to what you’ll find in the story. Not only are there stars and rain, which are HUGE key points, but also if you look closely, you’ll see a person behind the couple taking a picture. A paparazzi.

– The idea for Anyone But Him came to me in the shower as I was listening to one of my favorite bands, MKTO. The main singer is an actor and a singer and the idea just sort of blew up from there.

– Jennings was originally named Bradley, but I saw one of my ‘likers’ last name was Jennings and had to have it. Bradley is still in the book as Jennings’ best friend.

– Holli is loosely based off of a friend I have. She’s a spunky girl from Texas with a cute twang that I love. Holli helped me a lot when writing my first book and I promised her I’d write a character into my story using her name.

– My husband and I have always had a fascination with stargazing, so I felt it was appropriate to incorporate it into the book.

– When my husband was away with the Military, we would have moon dates. He would promise me he’d go outside and look at the moon and tell me he loved me. I promised to do the same. We moon dated for six months before he came home.

– The ending was partly planned and partly unexpected. While I always promise a happily ever after, I’ve left it open ended so I can give you more of a story.

– Chapter Ten was made specifically for one of my beta readers, Ashlei. We talked and joked about Whitley and Jennings date and I decided to give it life.

Cassie Graham is the author of Unable to Resist. She also hates talking about herself. It makes her nervous and somewhat sweaty. So, she’s going to make this short.

While writing is her true passion, her family is even more important. Her ultimate happy place is sitting in her house with her husband and daughter while writing stories about lovers who are meant to be together. She’d live in that world forever if she could.
