Synopsis

Zeke Reed lives his life by his rules, the biggest one being that he refuses to settle down. Through the years, it has become a running joke amongst his circle of friends that his condo would be well served by the installation of a revolving door.

That’s what makes his friendship with Mary and Jeff work. All three of them are looking for some no-strings-attached fun. Until fate steps in, making them all take a look at what’s been developing while they’ve been busy fooling around.

Oh how I LOVE this series. I was hooked with the first, Unexpected Angel, and the story just keeps getting better and better. Unexpected Consequences is the love story between Mary, the friendly lawyer, Zeke, the laid-back music promoter, and Jeff, the down-to-earth doctor.

As you can imagine, a relationship between three adults can be…tricky, especially if they have their own baggage that hasn’t been dealt with, and that is the case with these three. What is extremely prevalent though, is the bond that is formed at the very beginning of the story between them. Even though they try and mess things up between them, you can tell that the undying love is real and everything will work out in the end.

Sloan Johnson’s writing is so meaningful, so heartfelt, so REAL. I love how she delves deep into the relationship aspect of the characters. Yes, there is EXTREMELY hot sex, but it’s not the main focus. How the characters are guiding their lives and what they find passionate is what shines through. I love the constant switch between the character point of views. I love getting to see how each character sees a given situation through their eyes. I love how the past that threatens to cripple the budding relationship between Mary, Zeke, and Jeff is gently revealed to the reader through flashbacks. Character development is huge when I read and Sloan has done a fabulous job of not only making her main three characters beautiful, but also adding more layers to all her Isthmus Alliance posse. One of my most favorite things about reading a series where each book deals with a different couple, is the fact that you still get little glimpses from the previously introduced characters. I loved reading more about Dylan and Tasha and Tommy and Holly.

Unexpected Consequences was an amazing read that left me feeling giddy and a little sappy. It was wonderful to read a story about an m/f/m relationship that was different than others I’ve read before. Mary, Zeke and Jeff are such a fun, sexy couple. Their growing love was so rewarding to read about. I truly hope there is more in the works for the Isthmus Alliance crew! They are a delight to read about.

Synopsis

Wow! I just put this book down and I think I might need some time to recover! Love, Lies & the D.A. is an extremely fast passed story that had me hooked from the very first page! Sorry for all the exclamation points but it’s just necessary! We’re first introduced to Jada; she is a super savvy business woman with confidence to spare. This is no damsel in distress! From the first chapter on Jada is dealt some pretty crappy hands and despite it all she holds her head high and is prepared to fight.

When we are first introduced to Jonathan he comes off as an entitled, rich asshole! Even so there is a definite spark between these two and fight as they may it is not going away! Jonathan is the newly appointed San Francisco D.A. and very career focused, but once he meets Jada that focus drifts a bit 😉

There is a nice slow build up with this relationship, no instalove and no jumping into bed the first time they meet but oh boy is it worth the wait! Rebecca Rohman can write a very beautiful and erotic sex scene! These two characters were great together and I loved the fact that there wasn’t much in the way of unnecessary relationship angst. The mystery in the story kept me guessing the whole way through and some parts were extremely raw and emotional. There were many scenes in this book that had me literally in tears and at one point I was sick to my stomach it was so gut wrenching.
Overall this was an awesome(and long) book that kept my attention the entire way through. Definitely one to pick up!

There is so much that I would love to say about Uncaged but I fear I would give too much away! I am going to attempt to explain why I loved this book so much while keeping the plot details to a minimum. In addition to a heartwarming story and a cast that killed it there is one main reason everyone should read this novella . . .

As far as the men of Corps Security goes I love them all but for me, Cage is the end all die all. I absolutely love him HARD. A kind and loving man who is pierced as well, God help me! I was both in love with him and hot for him in Cage and this novella has only made my Cage fever  worse! What woman doesn’t want the perfect family man who is a BEAST in the Bedroom!

Melissa is such a strong heroine. She is brave, demanding and always knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to ask (both in life and in bed)! In this story she is both fun and insatiable and you get to see her at her weakest too! I really felt like I got to know and love her so much. The trials she has faced and the ones she faces in this story have made her the kind of woman we all strive to be!

There is one more character in this story that I am head over heels for . . .COHEN! What can I say about this adorable and strong little boy! It is rare that I fall completely in love with a child in a story but that is exactly what happened with Cohen. This little boy has been through more in his short life than most adults will ever go through, yet his spirit is still intact and he is the light of the group. Being able to see the events that unfolded through Cohen’s eyes brought a deepness to this story that you often do not see in novellas.

Novellas in general are hard to rate and even harder to review. You cannot talk much about the plot without fear of giving too much away and when it comes to rating them there usually isn’t enough time for strong character development and story depth. That being said, Uncaged deserves all 5 of the smooches I have given it! The story was well formed and both worked with the previous books and laid a great foundation for the next books! Anyone who has read Axel, Cage and Beck NEEDS to read Uncaged as well! They will not be let down!

Review

Fearless is a novella and the continuation of Wes and Kiersten’s story from Ruin.  If you loved Ruin, you will most definitely love Fearless.  It takes place after Toxic (Gabe and Saylor’s story), and is probably read best in this order:  Ruin, Toxic, Fearless.

 So, as usual with Rachel’s books, I freakin loved it!  This novella is about the wedding of Wes and Kiersten, but so much else takes place in this little book, that I definitely recommend reading it.  Wes picks a special spot for a surprise wedding and, really, it is just too freakin sweet!

And, finally!  Yes, finally!  We get some Wes and Kiersten sexy time.  It is pretty damn hot, too!

We are going to see more of the gang too.  Gabe makes his debut and of course he brings the tears.  For some reason Gabe does that to me.  Also, it gave insight into Lisa’s book, Shame, which I am super excited about.  I cannot wait for more from this sweet gang of friends.  Beautiful again, Rachel!
