To save his brother, Hunter has to join the gang he’s feared his entire life. Now he’s forced to choose between his family and the one girl he loves. Fighting for both, his fury is all he needs…

Review:

Hunter…. Hunter M*therf*cking Bane. Enough said 🙂

Just kidding…there is plenty to say about this SUPER HOT man. FURY is the sequel to FIERCE by Clarissa Wild. Fury is written in Hunter’s POV and I gotta say, it’s way hot. I do believe I liked it better than the first! Getting the insight from the male point of view is just so fun to read, especially when it’s written well, like in this case.

Hunter and Autumn are in college and Hunter has a few secrets that affect his daily life. This is a NA novel, however there are some very serious incidents that occur that keep both the relationship & life event drama high! It was a true page turner! I finished it all in one sitting 🙂 I highly recommend reading the first novel Fierce, before reading this one.

I really loved the complexity of Hunter’s character and the development of his feelings for Autumn. His passion for her came through so strongly. His number one characteristic is his furious love and protectiveness for both Autumn and his brother, Jessie. It was wonderful to see those relationships through his eyes.

I loved Fury and hope there is much more from Hunter and Autumn

ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Elizabeth Hayley is actually “Elizabeth” and “Hayley,” two friends who love reading romance novels to obsessive levels. This mutual love prompted them to put their English degrees to good use by penning their own. The product is Pieces of Perfect, their debut novel. They learned a ton about one another through the process, like how they clearly share a brain and have a persistent need to text each other constantly (much to their husbands’ chagrin).

“Elizabeth” lives with her husband, one and a half year old daughter, and nutjob of a dog. “Hayley” lives with her husband and their own crazy dog. They are hoping to adopt a newborn soon.

Elizabeth Hayley’s writing motto is best captured by the words of Patrick Dennis: “I always start with a clean piece of paper and a dirty mind.”

 EXCERPT

Chapter 18: Lily

Just then, the buzzer rang. I walked over to the intercom and held down the button. “Hello?”

“Hey, Lily. It’s me.”

I could hear the smile in his voice. It made me melt a little. “Me who?”

“Uh, hopefully the only guy you’re expecting tonight.”

Even though his voice was playful, I immediately regretted teasing him when I heard his response. I wondered if his mind had traveled where mine did: to the fact that there had been times when he hadn’t been the only guy who had made visits to my apartment. Dropping my head slightly, I tried to compose myself quickly before I replied. You’re not that girl anymore. You won’t fuck up this time. I lifted my head and interjected happiness into my voice. “I’ll be right down.”

Review

Picking up the Pieces is the conclusion of the story Pieces of Perfect and features characters from the novel Sex Snob as well. I was so excited to get this book, I LOVED Pieces of Perfect and was dying to find out who Lily ended up with! DYING!!

This story picks up right wear Pieces of Perfect left off and Lily is alone and has been traveling Europe. Picking Up the Pieces is told from the point of views from Lily, Adam, and Max, which does help see and understand some of the decisions these characters made. When she returns, although she tries to stay away it really doesn’t take long for her to start a friendship back up with both Adam and Max, which causes some major tension among all three characters. It is clear from the get-go that both men still love Lily, but are trying to fight those feelings because of what played out in Pieces of Perfect. This novel is full of love triangle angst and drama. Which took me for an emotional roller coaster. I feel like I was more emotionally involved in this story than I was in the first.  I was constantly tore up about who she would end up with.

I cannot say that I always agreed with Lily’s decision making process but I do honestly believe that it was important for the story. I did find myself yelling out loud a few time “Just Pick One” (secretly I wanted her to pick who I was rooting for of course).

I can’t really blame Lily though, If I had to pick between Adam and Max I would have an impossible time too! They are both so incredibly YUMMY.  Personally I would just want both (hehe). But that really isn’t an option here in book two.

Two more characters that need to be discussed are Amanda and Shane! Thank goodness they are in here! I fell in love with them in Sex Snob and they were needed in this story in order to provide some comedic relief from all the tension. Amanda seriously cracks me up and I loved how much more she was in this book! I was rolling, I was laughing at the things she said sometimes!

I don’t want to go too deep into this story because it is one stories where you are scared of giving anything away. So instead of talking plot, lets talk SEX! This story is HOT! The chemistry between the characters in this book jump off the page! Lucky Lily is all I have to say about that! Even the masturbation scenes left me a bit tingly!

Overall, Anyone who has read Pieces Of Perfect (and really that should be everyone) needs to read this book too! All the story lines are wrapped up nicely and everyone gets their HEA in the end! It was a drama whirlwind but one that was well worth it!

Review

Lots and Lots of Back Story

This book can be considered the back story to The Photographer series from what I can tell, and boy is it a lot of back story.  Almost too much for me, as I was wondering when and where the action was.  I don’t need the hot steamy sex scene on every page, but a little spice doesn’t hurt.
On the outside Kate just looks like every other girl, living on her own and working a full time job.  She sees her sister Anne about every other weekend to catch up.  Kate is just moving along with life, but inside she is carrying some pretty hefty baggage from her past.  While Kate has a job, it isn’t really the future she had hoped for and isn’t sure she will ever get that if she can’t move on.
Derrick is smitten with Kate from the moment he sees her in the coffee shop.  He picks her up in a pretty unique way and they hit it off.  Derrick comes across as a nice guy, however there seems to be something a bit off about his character.  He isn’t saying the things a guy in love should and that starts to send up the red flags for Kate.
They are dating for a few months then Kate and Derrick are faced with the worst possible tragedy for their new relationship.  It is sink or swim time for this couple and I was surprised at the turn the story took.  We see the kind of man Derrick is and how strong of a girl Kate actually can be.
This book is the set up for the series and at times I was hoping for a steamy sex scene or some major action to keep me interested.  I started skimming about half way through as there really wasn’t anything holding my interest in the story, the book also has a cliffhanger ending which frustrated me more.  Tainted Bodies is well written, however I didn’t feel it was the right fit for me.

Synopsis

Rory is a simple girl in a simple world. It wouldn’t take much to make her happy, but that’s a goal she gave up on long ago. Now her only goal is to simply, survive. Rory used to count down the days until she could leave, but now with a younger brother in tow, it would be hard she could never leave him. Rory is trapped in the Trailer Park like a princess in her tower, with her mother playing the big bad drunken fire breathing dragon. The dream of her knight coming to save her faded away about the same time her goals changed. Feeling useless and angry Rory starts her new school and gets trampled by none other than Monroe Falls Golden Boy Tobias West. She finds herself seeing him as the knight she dreamed of, though she believes it to be just that, a dream. Tobias (Toby) is Mr. Popular/ Mr. Perfect/ Mr. Money in the bank. He is too high on the social ladder to step down to her level. Or was he?
Toby was smitten with Rory. Toby’s ex, Ashley refuses to lose out to trailer park trash, and Rory finds herself the fuel to Ashley’s new found hate. On top of Monroe Falls High School drama, Rory still has to deal with her drunken mother and needy brother. She doesn’t have time for childish games. Reality hits Rory hard when her mother brings home a ticking time bomb for a bed mate and the need for that shiny knight becomes real.
Rome appears like she conjured him up out of thin air with magical powers, and instantly becomes her best friend. He seems to always be around when she needs someone to talk to and seems to always know just how to fix it. (Did I mention he is drop dead beautiful?) Two knights in shining armor? Nope!! That doesn’t happen, not in fairy tales, and definitely not in real life. Rory finds herself realizing there is a thin line between relationships and friendships lines that are starting to blur. Toby is getting ready to leave for college, Ashley’s nonstop meanness, and Rome showing up can Rory handle the pressure?
Her old friend reality takes another whack at her, causing her dread and despair to take over. Rory is questioning herself and its wrecking havoc on the strong girl she’s always considered herself to be. Has her poor choices doomed her to life in the trailer park or will she be able to exceed even her own expectations? Will she ever realize she is truly a princess worthy of getting her prince? Or will she simply survive? How does Rory’s story end?
This book is suited best for readers over the age of 17 due to sexual content and some language. As well as a few different types of abuse that is rarely talked about. (Verbal, Mental, and to some extent sexual and psychical)

Review

I love a book with a good strong and witty lead female and Delia Steele did not let me down. Rory lives in a Trailer Park and this makes her less than desirable at school. Toby should have been her hero, the handsome popular boy, who liked the girl from the wrong side of the tracks. But right from the part where he wouldn’t stop his truck in the trailer park, only slowed down, and made her jump in did I get a weird vibe about him. Then when he doesn’t stand up for her to his “I’m better than everyone’ mother I decided in my mind he just wasn’t right for someone as smart and strong as Rory! Enter Rome, a hidden hero, I don’t want to give too much away but I LOVED him and was rooting for him for Rory.

Rory has been through so much and it feels like her life is a constant uphill struggle. I think Delia Steel did an excellent job of writing a female lead that is different than most out there. It was nice to see the point of view of a girl from the “poor” part of town and for her not to be ashamed of who she is. I loved that she was determined to do more in life but not at the expense of caring for her little brother.

This story was interesting and the plot well formulated. I did find my copy to have some formatting and grammatical errors but not so much as that it was distracting from my reading.

Synopsis

It only took one drunken mistake four years ago for Maddie Harrington to learn that when you fully give yourself over to a man, you should never expect anything in return. Since that night, her views on love have become distorted, believing men would only want her for the pleasure her body could bring them. She in turn finds herself hooking up with random guys, but never keeps them around long enough to see if there could possibly be something more.

That is…until Hunter Bryant enters the picture.

When the handsome pre-med student shows up in the right place at the right time, captivating her with his stormy gaze, she immediately pushes him away, thinking he’s no different than any other guy. The deeper Hunter delves into her life, trying to break through her iron-clad walls, the more she begins to question whether she is truly capable of opening her heart up to another man.

Maddie soon finds herself forced to make a difficult decision, one that will forever change both of their lives. Will she shut Hunter out of her life for good or will she finally open up her heart and allow herself the life she never dreamed she deserved?

Review

Let me just start out by saying that the first book in this series, Relinquishing Liberty was good but Unforeseen Heartbeat was great!!! We met Maddie in the first book and she comes across as a super bubbly, super friendly and super promiscuous! But let me tell you there is so much more to this character than meets the eye. This book really lives up to the name of the series “Second Chances” as Maddie definitely makes some big changes in her life. I ran the gamut emotionally with this story, from laughing at Maddie and the crazy things that pop out of her mouth to gushing over Hunter and his amazingness to bawling my eyes out at a few unmentionable scenes 😉 Did I mention I loved Hunter!!!!!

“Because I want to mean something to you. I’m not going to just fuck you, Maddie. I’m not like that, and you deserve so much better than just a quick, emotionless fuck. If you really want me, let me take things slow. Let me show you how special you really are to me.”

What an awesome character! Hunter is extremely sexy without having to be the bad boy. Sweet and romantic but definitely not a softy by any means!  Along with getting to know these characters we do also get to see how Shayne and Liberty from the first book are doing as well getting to know Maddie’s roommate Robbie and his boyfriend Lance who seem to spend most of the book naked!

“Robbie! What have I told you about covering up your baloney pony when you’re moseying around the apartment?”

Overall this was a great read. Emotional, funny and sexy!! I look forward to the next book in this series!

Unexpected Consequences by Sloan Johnson

unexpected consequences

Synopsis

Zeke Reed lives his life by his rules, the biggest one being that he refuses to settle down. Through the years, it has become a running joke amongst his circle of friends that his condo would be well served by the installation of a revolving door.

That’s what makes his friendship with Mary and Jeff work. All three of them are looking for some no-strings-attached fun. Until fate steps in, making them all take a look at what’s been developing while they’ve been busy fooling around.

Unfortunately, every decision in life has consequences. When you choose to openly share your life with more than one person, things get complicated. Will Zeke, Jeff and Mary be able to stand together as the world tries to pull them apart?

Review

Oh how I LOVE this series. I was hooked with the first, Unexpected Angel, and the story just keeps getting better and better. Unexpected Consequences is the love story between Mary, the friendly lawyer, Zeke, the laid-back music promoter, and Jeff, the down-to-earth doctor.

maryzekejeff

As you can imagine, a relationship between three adults can be…tricky, especially if they have their own baggage that hasn’t been dealt with, and that is the case with these three. What is extremely prevalent though, is the bond that is formed at the very beginning of the story between them. Even though they try and mess things up between them, you can tell that the undying love is real and everything will work out in the end.

Sloan Johnson’s writing is so meaningful, so heartfelt, so REAL. I love how she delves deep into the relationship aspect of the characters. Yes, there is EXTREMELY hot sex, but it’s not the main focus. How the characters are guiding their lives and what they find passionate is what shines through. I love the constant switch between the character point of views. I love getting to see how each character sees a given situation through their eyes. I love how the past that threatens to cripple the budding relationship between Mary, Zeke, and Jeff is gently revealed to the reader through flashbacks. Character development is huge when I read and Sloan has done a fabulous job of not only making her main three characters beautiful, but also adding more layers to all her Isthmus Alliance posse. One of my most favorite things about reading a series where each book deals with a different couple, is the fact that you still get little glimpses from the previously introduced characters. I loved reading more about Dylan and Tasha and Tommy and Holly.

Unexpected Consequences was an amazing read that left me feeling giddy and a little sappy. It was wonderful to read a story about an m/f/m relationship that was different than others I’ve read before. Mary, Zeke and Jeff are such a fun, sexy couple. Their growing love was so rewarding to read about. I truly hope there is more in the works for the Isthmus Alliance crew! They are a delight to read about.

5 lovely smooches from me!

Synopsis

On the outside, Liberty Davis appeared to have it all…a loving family, a tight knit circle of friends, and a bright future ahead of her. Everything was perfect. That is until her brother tragically took his own life, turning her whole world upside down.

Left to pick up the pieces of her broken family, Liberty is faced with focusing all of her attention on helping her parents cope with the loss of their son, while putting her own life on the back burner. But what no one seems to realize is that she is just as broken inside.

Now, four years later, twenty year old Liberty is taking back the reins of her life. She leaves behind everything she’s ever known, hoping to make a fresh start…one where she isn’t faced with the constant reminder that her brother is nothing more than faded memory. What she didn’t expect to find along the way was Shayne.

Tall, dark and tattooed, Shayne Thompson has developed quite a reputation for being a player. Despite everyone’s negative perception, Liberty still finds herself drawn to him. When she learns that Shayne knows all too well what it feels like to lose someone you love, she finds that they have a lot more in common than just a physical attraction.

When Liberty discovers a secret from Shayne’s past that threatens to tear them apart, she begins to question everything she’s ever felt for him. Will Liberty choose to follow her heart or will she give up the one person who finally made her feel whole again?

**This story contains language and sexual scenes, some of which may be unsuitable for younger readers.

Review

Relinquishing Liberty is a book about starting over. It has been 4 years since Liberty’s Brother committed suicide and she has finally decided to start fresh in a new place. While passing through Savannah, a chance encounter helps her make up her mind to stay. Making fast friends (and I mean fast) with Brett and his sister Maddie, Liberty quickly becomes roommates with Maddie and gets a job at the same place as the siblings. Liberty’s relationships with Brett and Maddie seemed to develop extremely quickly, going from strangers to referring to them as family in what appears to be matter of days. Another separate chance encounter on the beach lands Liberty in the arms of super sexy green eyed Shayne. A newly reformed man-whore, Shayne has a reputation around town as a lady-killer. This relationship also moves pretty fast, but I did really enjoy them as a couple. It isn’t all hearts and flowers though; there are definite bumps in the road! There were a few times in this book I wanted to reach through the screen ofmy eReader and strangle some people!
http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/r775/Danalamothe/Mad_zps1be59cd5.gif

I figured out the “big secret” pretty early on in the story so I did find myself waiting for the other shoe to drop for a large portion of the book. Overall this was an enjoyable read that I would recommend to fans of NA and steamy romance in general. This was the first book in the “Second Chances” series (it does have a HEA) and I am looking forward to reading Maddie’s story in the next book.

Review

Better Than The First
Please don’t read this review if you have not read the first book-as it may contain spoilers.  In the second installment of The Perfect Series we are back with Kate and Reed, navigating the choppy waters of their relationship.  When we left them, Kate needed some time to find herself and Reed was going stir crazy without her.
Kate is doing exactly what she said she was going to do, work on a different way to deal with her issues instead of running away from them.  She takes the semester off and starts to talk to somebody about what is going on in her life, including her mother.  I like that Kate was taking the initiative to be a better person and deal with her problems differently, however I still didn’t find myself connecting with her.  She comes off immature about some of the situations, and more that once she worried about what Reed had going on when Kyle was still trying to contact her.
Speaking of, the thorns in the sides of Kate and Reed are sill ever present.  Kyle and Jessica have much bigger roles in this book, well Jessica at least, and man does that spell trouble.  So while Kate and Reed are learning about this new relationship, they each have to deal with the psycho ex that just won’t let go.  I think the next book should feature them getting together, sounds like they are made for each other.
There is a lot going on this time around and I liked it.  Kate’s mom is back and we find out more about that situation.  Reed opens up about his dad and that relationship more, as well as some action with Kate’s friend Maggie.  There are little lies being held from one another between Kate and Reed, all in the name of protecting feelings, but you see that’s getting ready to blow up in their faces.
The characters changed and maybe grew up a bit for us in The Perfect Emotion and they definitely got way sexier!  That Reed makes it to book boyfriend status this time around, who cares if he has some secrets. The story is constantly building and while we are given bits and pieces of what is happening, there is a cliffhanger ending to get us to come back at least one more time, which I will.  It’s going to be interesting to see if Kate becomes an even stronger young woman with what lies ahead of her, and how Reed will cope with the past rearing its ugly head.
