Review
A great romantic suspense story with a captivating plot and characters that were easily likeable and interesting to read about.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I love to settle down to a book which has romance, passion, suspense, and a certain mystery to it when it comes to which way the book is going to go and what is going to happen next and this story had all of this.
Firstly the characters were great.
Katie was strong, feisty, sweet and a character I could easily relate to and feel for. She seems very unlucky with everything that happens to her but she is always moving forward and continuing to live her life no matter what is thrown at her. She is a strong female lead who is easy to like.
Jacob was beyond adorable. He had alpha male elements definitely but I couldn’t stop thinking that he was just so sweet and protective. I loved that he played no games when it came to what he felt for Katie, he was perfectly happy making his feelings clear to his teammates and brother even knowing they would disagree.
I did however have a hard time with Jacob’s brother Eli. I really didn’t like him through most of the book, he seemed mean and a bit of a bully when it came to telling Jacob what to do but then right near the end we seemed to see a slightly different side to him and if this continues in the next book then I could see myself liking his character a lot more.
Oh and I have to mention Hauk!! I love when animals are including within a story and Hauk was the best dog! Hopefully he continues to have a part in the next book.
The plot was captivating. It had a good pace, when the suspense slowed down a bit we had passion and their relationship to read about and then it would pick up with Katie getting in horrible situations. And throughout the whole book I kept wanting to know what happened that night in the warehouse and who was causing Katie all the problems, so overall the story definitely kept me hooked and interested the whole way through.
We don’t really get many answers to a lot of the questions in this first book, but it didn’t bother me as much as it has done with previous stories because there was plenty happening that kept me reading.
I can’t wait to read the next book now to find out what is happening, who is behind everything that is going on and where Katie and Jacob’s relationship is going (especially after what her and Jacob talk about in the epilogue!)

Excerpt:
Cuba’s POV
Not exactly a meet-cute…
The room closed in, making me sweat. I hadn’t talked to her in over a year, and now here we were, face-to-face. Two ex-lovers who hated each other.
I had to get away from her.
Dovey tilted her head as I stood, giving me a scathing glare. “Leaving so soon? Yeah, go ahead, cut and run. Coward.”
I ignored her and tried to get Weinstein’s attention, to let her know she could flunk me for all I cared.
“Before you go, tell me one thing, and I’ll make sure we aren’t partners in this class. You’ll be free of me,” she said.
“What?” I asked, my voice going all raspy, blocking all the words I wanted to say. They weren’t things she ever needed to hear.
“Why so cruel to me? You aren’t to the other girls you date and dump. Why single me out?”
I seethed. “And it didn’t take you long to find someone else, now did it? How is Spider? Does he get you hot like I did?”
She smirked. “He’s fine. He thinks I hung the moon. He thinks you’re an ass. I agree.”
I tightened my fists and pressed them against my thighs, swearing to myself I wasn’t responding to her bait. I swore. She was a dangerous game I didn’t need to play.
Suddenly, her face fell. Was she recalling the last time we were together? Was she remembering how I used to…
“I trusted you,” she whispered, all her anger seeming to be gone. The unsteadiness of her voice undid me, sent me right over the edge of that precarious cliff I’d been hanging on to by the skin of my teeth.
Yeah, she hadn’t been the only one who’d trusted me. I’d ruined them all. Every last one. Dark thoughts assaulted me, of the blood I had on my hands.
Snap! My pencil broke and small pieces flew across my desk and into the empty space between us.
I wanted to pummel my desk until my fists bled. I wanted to punch a hole through the wall, the floor, my face.
Everything was my fault. Just mine.
She’d been collateral damage, the kind that breaks everyone involved. And I was sorry for it, but sometimes you do what hurts because it’s for the best.
But she was my kryptonite, leaving me no option but to hurt her. Again.
I didn’t think about my cruel words, I just said them. “You were a curiosity, Dovey. You weren’t the usual BA girl, and I wanted a taste. That’s all. I moved on when it got boring. Get over it.”
Author Bio:
Ilsa Madden-Mills is a loving wife and mother, a loyal friend, and a teacher. When all that is done, she writes. Obsessively.
She spent several years teaching high school English, but now hangs out at home with two small kids, a neurotic cat, and her Viking husband. She collects magnets and rarely cooks except to bake her own pretzels.

Synopsis
Becca Campbell is a mother, friend, and widow to a war hero (may he rot in hell). She just wants to raise her daughter right and keep her bed-and-breakfast afloat in this economy. Her traumatic past leaves her with no desire for a relationship—until Grayson James walks through her door. He’s not the type of man you can easily say “no” to. Becca can’t quite understand the pull she feels toward him. But then his controlling nature starts to push her away—and into Ray McNeil’s comforting arms. Which is right where Ray has always wanted her.
Who will Becca choose?
Will she finally give in to her feelings for Ray, or continue the tumultuous relationship with Grayson? Only one thing is certain—either choice will mean saying goodbye to caution.
Warning: This book contains some disturbing situations, dubious consent, strong language and violence.
10% of the proceeds from this book will be donated to YWCAUSA.org to help abused women and children.
Review
It was refreshing and a pleasant surprise to read a story about characters who were adults and therefore aware of what they wanted (in a sense, as if the characters always knew exactly what they wanted there probably wouldn’t be much of a story to be told) and who weren’t so naive in their personalities.
Becca was a wonderful character, she was quirky, strong, funny and a lovely and caring mother. She definitely annoyed me at times with the decisions she made and her thought process but the fact I was invested enough to get annoyed at a character is always proof to me that the character has got to me and is someone I am enjoying reading about.
Grayson was a character I had trouble with because there were some aspects I liked about him and others I didn’t. There’s no argument that he was sexy and an alpha male but he was sometimes too possessive and jealous and calling a women he is meant to love a whore takes jealous boyfriend a little too far for me. I was able to move past this though as this was obviously a story about a turbulent relationship so heated arguments are definitely expected.
The plot itself was fast-paced, there was a lot of drama. The constant back and forth arguing between Becca and Grayson did get a little irritating but there was plenty happening within the story that I never became bored and I was 100% hooked, wondering what was going to happen next, if Grayson and Becca were ever going to sort things out and settle and what else was going to come along to mix up the plot.
A fast-paced story, packed full of drama, romance, and passion, with well developed characters means overall I give this book a solid 4 smooches!

Review
I am a very visual person. The covers of books and the teasers are what really grab my eye. If they are done well, I tend to purchase the book without really knowing much about it. Confession: that was the case with Deviant by Callie Hart.
The other night, in the middle of the morning as I was putting my daughter BACK to bed, I happened upon a super hot teaser for this book. It looked right up my alley. I thought to myself “Huh, well why haven’t I seen this before? It comes out in a few days…” So I immediately went to Callie’s Facebook page. I could instantly tell that she was a newbie to this scene! Only a few hundred likes and not the usual bombardment of promotional everything that I’m used to seeing. I got a really good vibe from what I saw and just knew that this was going to be a good one. Damn, I love it when I’m right!
Deviant is the story of Zeth and Sloane. Zeth is a bit of a wildcard. An asshat who likes to play dirty, both in life and in the dark. Sloane is an innocent who has been thrust into, probably her second worst nightmare, her sister has been taken. Through a complex series of events, these two meet and Sloane has to decide if she wants to take a walk on the wild side, literally, to hopefully find her sister.
This is a novella, which I actually loved! It was nice to sit down during an extended lunch and read a story that had you gripped from the first page! And let me tell you, the ending will knock your socks off! It is DAMN hot!!!
Sloane and Zeth fight against each other which only makes it extremely hot when they finally succumb to their feelings. I loved how the past was interspersed with the present. I loved how easy it was to read, and how enjoyable. I loved how it may appear as though it is something that you have read before, and yet it is still fresh and HOT.
The senses were used beautifully in this story you could almost smell and hear exactly what Sloane was. To me, that is an added element to reading this genre that sets the story above others. If you can see, hear, smell and taste what is described, hmmm…poetry on paper.
I cannot wait for more of Zeth and Sloane! This is a MUST read new series. The elements of danger, lust and obedience have me reeling for more!

Yet despite Sophie’s big-city nosiness and her insistence on chasing long-dead ghosts, he’s drawn to her.
But mixing with an outsider means questioning people and traditions Lucas has always defended. When a series of attacks seem to be connected to Sophie’s investigation, both Sophie and Lucas must decide if they are willing to risk everything to uncover the town’s secrets…and their own.
CONTENT WARNING: Contains one barb-slinging travel show host, one hunky handyman who knows exactly how to use his tools, and a small town brimming with secrets .
Review
Beacon of love is a small town romance with a lot of mystery!
Sophie Smithwaite is a Travel show host who spends her time in small town after small town digging into their history. Never in a million years would she expect to find herself so intertwined in the story behind the mystery at Lindsay Point! Upon her arrival Sophie bumps into Lucas, a 6’7 town handyman/part time paramedic/all around good guy! But oh boy this small town hunk has some issues to work through!! Never the less, these two have some major chemistry and the sexual tension is off the charts! As Sophie starts to discover more about the town of Lindsay Point it is very clear that there is more going on here than meets the eye. With ghost’s and murder, plane crashes and infidelity you are really kept guessing throughout this book. Beacon of Love was a little less steamy then I am used too and I did find myself disappointed after all the build-up between Sophie and Lucas only to have their sex scene be non-descriptive and fade to black. This book’s ending was left a little open ended but I do know it is a series so I look forward to reading more about this couple in upcoming books! Overall this was a great romantic mystery and I will definitely pick up the next book in the Hometown Hero’s series.

Review
WTF, Lily White?! Seriously, WTF?! I am sitting here trying to think of words to describe how much I hated to love this book. The whole thing was gut twisting and completely wackadoodle and I couldn’t put it down. Even when I wanted to, I just couldn’t stop! I am slightly disturbed that I found some of this book erotic. What does that say about me? Oh god, someone help me. I think this book traumatized me!
Lets start with crazy ass sadistic Aiden, shall we? His character is awful. He is a horrible, awful, demented, man with no redeeming qualities. This is where the book really differed from other dark books, for me. Usually, the dark men in these types of books are tortured, or were abused themselves, or something that explained why they were such lunatics. But nope, not with Aiden. He is just a crazy bastard and he likes it that way. He has no love in his heart for anyone or anything except money. He is really quite appalling and I hated him from the beginning of this book to the very end. 5 % into this book and he had already abducted and was getting ready to rape Rebecca. He demeans her in every possible way I can think of. This is not the fun type of rough sex. This is the scary as shit type of sex and Aiden is so good at it. He is completely frightening.
And Rebecca! Rebecca, Rebecca, Rebecca! You have Stockholm’s Syndrome, baby girl. Hell, maybe she didn’t. Maybe she is just as crazy and fucked up as Aiden. Who knows? This book is a complete mind fuck.
Her Master’s Courtesan is a fast paced erotic thriller. It is extremely, extremely dark. I cannot emphasize this enough. Rape, abuse and physical violence are prevalent throughout the entirety of this book. If you are looking for some romance and a happily ever after, fucking move on! It was still an absolutely fabulous read that I could not put down. It is superbly written and off the charts crazy. Congrats, Lily White, you get the bat shit crazy award. 5 smooches.
