Synopsis

Perfect ass.

Perfect arms.

Perfect swagger.

They call Dash Wallace the Diamond King.

He’s the hottest commodity in baseball and in the bedroom.

When he runs the bases, every woman’s eyes are glued to his stunning body and a smile that puts the night lights to shame.

I’m no queen. I’m a regular girl with a regular job. I just watch him on TV and from the bleachers, season after season.

Girls like me grab a guy like that one in a million times.

My number just came up, and he is as spectacular in bed as he is on the field.

But there’s not a woman in the world who can distract Dash Wallace from the game. Not for a moment. Not even me.

Until the night I do. And everything changes.

Review

‘When I looked around he was gone. Good thing. There was nothing more offensive than a man blessed with good looks when he should have been given courtesy.’

WOW! OK so I went into this book expecting to like it but instead I LOVED it. Every. word. It was sexy, engaging, humorous, dramatic, perfect and flawed. Not only was I invested in the story but I felt a personal connection to the characters. Dash Wallace has suffered from many psychiatric issues since he was a small child, anxiety, aggression, OCD just to name a few but through all this he still persevered and became a star in his chosen field. As the mom of a child who suffers and survives with all of these syndromes this book was a breath of fresh air. It gave me hope for his happy future and for a moment made me feel less alone in the struggles of raising a difficult child.

Vivian Foster is a school librarian determined to make a difference. A longtime baseball fan she quickly volunteers to go with some of the underprivileged kids to meet some professional baseball players. Dash Wallace is sex personified but his personality quickly cools her crush on him. But a missing glove has him showing up at her library and soon he two are working together to find the glove and getting closer by the moment. She finds there is so much more depth to Dash than she could have ever guessed but with the depth comes problems she never had guessed.

I can’t decide how to fuck you,” he said. “I want to take you in every position. I want to fuck you like an animal and a saint.”

Now, let’s talk sex. CD Reiss is an expert at putting out some of the steamiest sex scenes I have ever read. I have read many different sports books but this was by far the sexiest. Verging on erotica and falling into the style we have come to love and expect from CD Reiss, Hardball felt like a complete new twist on the sports romance.

‘I crave his touch and his laugh, his Shakespeare quotes and his attention. Even his awkwardness. Everything.’

There is no denying that CD Reiss is a phenomenal author, anyone who has read her work can attest to that. Personally, I believe that with Hardball she has really upped her game, not only was the writing and story on par with her other work the attention to detail in Dash’s personality felt real and personal. He wasn’t an easy character to love and I am sure he wasn’t an easy character to write but in the end she made not loving him impossible and for that this book deserves all the stars.
