Synopsis

Darkness is the only thing I see. Ever since the day my life changed. The day that everything and everyone I held close to me ceased to exist. The day I lost it all and the demons of my past consumed my every waking moment.

I tried to keep others at arm’s length. Tried not to let my darkness taint them. Ruin them. Harm them. And whether I want to admit it or not, as much as I wish I could keep them locked out, they refuse to leave. Refuse to let me suffer alone.

If I hadn’t been so focused on keeping those demons from flying free, I wouldn’t have missed how one perfect angel was able to sneak her way under my skin—refusing to let go. Making me want things I don’t deserve.

She consumes me. Her beauty knows no end. The love she promises tempts me every time she’s near. But that pure heart that makes her MY Emmy is the one thing I’m convinced I’ll destroy if I ever let her close.

I’m a broken man. A broken man with too much darkness in his soul to ever let her light shine upon me. But even that doesn’t stop me from craving her with every single breath in my body.

Review

“Since day one, she’s been the greatest temptation but I refused to take everything innocent that is Emmy and let my blackness take her.”

OMG OMG OMG! To say I have been waiting for Locke to come would be an understatement to say the least! The Corps Security Series by Harper Sloan is undoubtedly one of my all-time favorite series and I am both happy and sad that it is ending! Locke was a perfect way to wrap up such an emotional and action packed series. I have said since the day I read Cage that that was my absolute favorite book in the series but oh boy did Locke give him a run for his money!

“A broken man. A broken man not worthy of anything pure in this world. After all – everything I touch turns to shit anyway.”

We new going into this story that Locke was going to be so incredibly emotional and difficult to read but it far exceeded any expectation I had. Locke’s story broke my heart but Emmy, oh Emmy, her story completely shattered it! Maddox lost gave everything he had to the military when he was in it and came out a broken man. Between his insecurities and personal drama he honestly believes he does not deserve happiness.

“With a growl, I deepen the kiss, taking it to a level of predatory ownership. Our tongues swirl together, her breath mixing with my own and our mouths doing all the talking for us. In this moment, she owns me. Everything I’ve been denying us both comes to a screeching halt.”

Emmy ran after Coop’s death and because of this I went into this book thinking she was meek and maybe even a little weak. Oh boy, I had no idea. Let me say it again NO IDEA! You think you know her, you think you understand her but let me tell you . . . you  . . . know . . . nothing! Now her story is so intense I don’t want to give it away but just let me tell you that I was destroyed by it. I was a pregnant woman bawling in the corner wishing she could have a bottle of wine broken.

“I hate you,” “You fucking love me, woman.”

I have loved watching Maddox and Emmy fight their attraction to each other throughout the series and to finally get their story and see how it unfolds. Their sexual chemistry is intense and even more than that they just get each other. They have both had lives that are so different but both filled with such trauma and heartache that you can tell they just need each other. Even with us being able to see that they are perfect for each other they fight it for so long that when it happens you really just feel a complete feeling of relief!

“I’m burning to take her how I’ve been craving. To control her body. To claim he soul. To make her mine.”

So . . . Maddox Locke is as fucking HOT and SEXY as I knew he would be  . . . enough said!

“Give me the words, Em.”

Harper thank you so much for giving us this series and making me fall in love with Alpha men and the women who love them!
