Synopsis

Jaxon is the guy she’s supposed to avoid.

K.C. is the girl he won’t let get away….

K. C. Carter has always followed the rules—until this year, when a mistake leaves her the talk of her college campus and her carefully arranged life comes crashing to a halt. Now she’s stuck in her small hometown for the summer to complete her court-ordered community service, and to make matters worse, trouble is living right next door.

Jaxon Trent is the worst kind of temptation and exactly what K.C. was supposed to stay away from in high school. But he never forgot her. She was the one girl who wouldn’t give him the time of day and the only one to ever say no. Fate has brought K.C. back into his life—except what he thought was a great twist of luck turns out to be too close for comfort. As the bond between them grows, he discovers that convincing K.C. to get out from her mother’s shadow is hard, but revealing the darkest parts of his soul is nearly impossible.…

Review

“Don’t worry, K.C.. I’m well aware your pussy is too precious for me, okay?”

OMG! How do I write this review. Penelope has yet to do any wrong for me! I love her writing, her stories but most of all I love her characters. She knows how to develop characters you love, ones you hate and ones you love to hate. But more than that she knows how to show growth within them in the short span of a book to the point that people you thought you could never even like you end up completely loving. For me personally, she has a mind like no other and I will forever devour anything she writes!

I have been waiting for Jax and K.C.’s story since I got a first good glance at their interaction in Until You. I just knew with Jax’s tragic past and K.C.’s upper crust upbringing that it was going to be oh so juicy, not to mention with the tempers and mouths on these two that it would be very very HOT! And truth , it was!

Much like his half brother, Jared, Jax pushes the one he wants away. He knows she is too good for him but just can’t hold back on how much he wants her. Much like many of Penelope’s characters, Jax and K.C both come with a tragic back story that breaks your heart and makes you want to hurt those who have hurt them. I went into Falling away knowing some of Jax’s story and understanding how that had formed him into the man/teen boy who would sleep around and live life on the edge. I knew he would break my heart and make it a slow heal. What I wasn’t expecting is all that K.C has dealt with. She puts on an amazing front but she is truly a broken little girl who desperately need love.

“Bite me, hit me, scream at me, I don’t care. I want to feel it. Fucking hurt me, K.C. Let me see you.”

Once Jax gets a taste of the real K.C., the girl hiding behind the front he is done. He has to have her, help her, heal her. While he can be crass and harsh to her he doesn’t hide from her let her hid from him. Boy did I love him. All of this and he is a year younger than her. (Have I mentioned that I love that he is both younger and most definitely an in control man all at once)

Now K.C., while she was nothing like I expected I had no problem loving and understanding her. The book starts off with K.C. coming home from school after having been ARRESTED! I know was not expecting that! She is staying at Tate’s and of course Jax is at Jared’s house. These two have chemistry from the moment they are in the same room and all you want is more of them interacting, more of them fighting, more of just them. Watching K.C. spend the summer discovering herself and who she is separate from her family and expectations was great and watching Jax help her do this while she helps mold Jax from the rebellious teenager he is into the man he is meant to be was a wonderful story that I was sad to end. I never want Penelope’s books to be done. I want to live in side her head!

Angst, what is a good new adult book without it! Penelope Douglas does teen angst like no other. You become so wrapped up in that tale she has weaved that it is literally like a movie playing in your head. Shed writes tragic characters coming into their own with a power and force. On top of all that this book was so sexy, probably the sexiest book in the series yet. I could not put it down and am defineately looking forward to a re-read in the future!

“Jax? I’m not a doll, I won’t break, so don’t hold back, I’m ready.”

“You’re so wet for me, K.C. Gutless, helpless, and a fucking liar, too.”

“Do me a favor, would you? The watermelon juice spilling over your lip? Lick it up or I will.”

“Not a damn thing has changed. And yet everything had changed. While I was away Jaxon Trent had become a man.”

“I wanted to make you come so hard that you’d lose that little sneer on your face forever, I wanted to taste how wet you were for me. I wanted you underneath me, writhing and sweaty and begging. I wanted your mouth on mine, and your legs wrapped around my waist. Man I wanted you, K.C.I wanted to undo you. I wanted to dirty you up”
