Synopsis

Don’t be fooled.

Don’t make excuses for me.

I am not a good man.

I’ve seen things no one should, done things no one should talk about. Honor and conscience have no place in my life. But I’ve fought and I’ve survived. I’ve had to.

The first time I saw her dancing on that seedy stage in that second rate club, I felt my heart pulse for the first time. Keelyn Foster was too young, too vibrant for this place, and I knew in an instant that I would make her mine. But first I had to climb my way to the top. I had to have something more to offer her.

I’m here now, money is no object and I have no equal. Except for her. She’s disappeared. But don’t worry, I will find her and claim her. She will be mine.

Like I said, don’t be fooled. I am not the devil in disguise… I’m the one standing front and center.

Review

‘There had been good men and bad men in my past. There had been men I wanted to stay longer than they did  and ones I couldn’t get rid of fast enough, but in the background there was always Nassir . . . always.’

Honor by Jay Crownover was surprising in the best way possible. It was simultaneously nothing and everything I expected from Nassir’s book. Easily read as a standalone but even better if you have been reading The Point series. Tis was one of Jay’s best works yet, it is obvious she spent a lot of time developing the “bad guy” that is Nassir Gates so that we the reader can see him as both a hero and a villain. He is complex and beautiful and he made this book perfect.

‘She was my endgame. She was what had given my life meaning, and now she was breathing that very essence back into me and it felt perfect.’

There was distinct beauty in Nassir’s undying and devoted love for Keeyln. From the moment he walks into a strip club years ago and sees her on stage as “Honor” he knows his life is changed. He doesn’t miraculously become a better person or make all the right choices but he does know that she is all he wants in a partner for life. Something up until then he never even really considered. But from that moment he knew she would be worth the weight. Not that waiting was easy or done celibate but he did wait. Keelyn, like Nassir, comes from a troubled past and is determined to be in control of herself and not let a man take over. So she pushes him away from the beginning and then when things got bad in the Point she ran. But never fear because Nassir followed. GAH I just loved that man. He was a monster when needed in business but with her he was kind and sweet and everything you want in a partner. Not to mention the fact that he might just be one of the sexiest men alive with a dirty dirty mouth.

‘I claimed him. I understood him. I earned him. I loved him.’

Honor captivated my day. It was dark at times but Nassir’s love for Key gave so much light to the story that the balance was just perfect. Anyone following along with The Point series know that everything in the Point is in a grey area. Nothing it cut and dry or black and white. Nassir and Keelyn’s relationship is just like that. I adored this story and Nassir Gates might just be giving my main man Race a run for his money.
