Synopsis

He promised to take me as far as I could go—and I wanted to go to the edge.

My whole life has been a cover, a con, a lie. I was born into the grift, raised on the thrill of playing someone I’m not. As a rule, I never let anyone get too close—until Cole August makes it impossible for me to stay away.

Cole is tough, sexy, and intensely loyal, yet his secrets are dark and his scars run deep. Not many women can handle his past, or the truth behind his fierce demands. But something about him beckons me—and our desire is a game I must play.

I know he’s dangerous, that even his touch is trouble, but what is passion without a little risk?

Ignited is an erotic romance intended for mature audiences.

Review

“Watched his expression grow hot, almost feral, as if he wanted nothing more in that moment than to touch me – to take me. Do it, I though. Right here, right now, just do it and let me have thought and reason back.”

So I had previously read J. Kenner’s Release Me series and LOVED it and when I saw the invite to Ignited I jumped all over it. I had not yet read the first two in the series and being in a time crunch this month did not have time to read them before starting Ignited but I was told this could be a standalone so that is how I went into it! I had absolutely no problem reading this one without having read the first two but I will say that this so good I definitely want to read the first two now.

“It’s okay, I won’t break.” “Don’t be so sure blondie. I’ve been knownto destroy even the most resilient things.”

These books each revolve around one of the three men who make up the powerful yet slightly shade Knights in Chicago. Ignited is Cole’s book and he is all kinds of messed up and sexy. Both Kat and Cole have demons in their past trying to show their heads and while both of these two desperately want one another only Kat is willing to give into this. Cole cares for Kat so deeply he will do anything to keep her safe, even as far as making sure she never gets involved with the likes of him. I loved how messed up in the head Cole was and how he was definitely the hero in the book yet not altogether a good guy. I like a shady man and to say Kat likes one too is an understatement

“I liked pain – not pain by itself, but pain that came from him. From our shared passion. I wanted him to have that – the power to hurt me. I wanted him to keep it close like a gift. Because somehow that made me his.”

Ignited was all kinds of sexy and hot! Cole needs power and pain and Kat soon realizes she kinda needs to be dominated (at least by Cole) The way these two just fit made for a beautiful love story strung around a BDSM book. While the sex in the book is definitely a bit kinky I honestly believe that everyone would enjoy this story and should give the series as a whole a try! J. Kenner’s writing is wonderful and she can definitely pull you in and keep you entertained!

“Here’s the bottom line. I’m fucked up, Kat. But you’re fucked up, too.”
