5 SMOOCHES
Synopsis
*Warning: Although Playing His Game can be read as a stand-alone novel, it’s highly recommended you read Changing His Game first. Playing His Game contains sex, drugs, and briefly touches on M/F/F. Recommended for mature readers.
I’m a pretty carefree person. I believe in living life to the fullest, having no regrets and just having fun. This is my outlook on life when Scott Reynolds collides with it.
It was supposed to be casual and fun. We couldn’t get serious because our circumstances wouldn’t allow it. My sister and his brother were practically married. Soon, one hook up became two, then five, then ten, until I lost count completely. Our casual relationship became something more… to me.
How the hell did I let this happen?
I’m falling for this man and it’s becoming a problem. But Scott has his own problems, his own demons. He’s dug himself into a hole so deep, and he needs me to help him get out… and I do it. I stupidly do it and screw up my life, my reputation and any chance of changing people’s perception of me. For the first time I care what people think of me, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat…
If Scott weren’t such an asshole!
Review
“Stupid, mother fucking egotistical asshole; I can’t believe I let him destroy my life.”
Playing his game by Justine Elvira is book 2 in the Reynolds Brother Series and just as fun, sexy and entertaining as the first book Changing His Game. I will be honest and say that I was a little worried going into this book that I was not going to love it as much as I loved the first book. Changing his game had a great hook with Jared being a huge porn star and all. Playing his game was so fabulous no hook needed. I was grabbed from the prologue and intrigued as to how it was possible that he ruined her life and how Winnie allowed that to happen.
“Little does he know I love a man who likes making sexual innuendos. That’s my favorite way to flirt.”
Scott is a player who knows what to say to get what he wants and he has met his match with Winnie. She throws innuendo out there like it is no big deal and the two of them quickly find that they are very attracted to each other, One major problem, his brother and her sister are in a very serious relationship and in the long run casual sex will only make their family get together very awkward. Still this does not stop Scott from trying and after they start texting they find themselves as very good friends. Between their budding friendship and attraction trouble is a brewing, add to that that Scott has a secret and when shit hits the fan he takes Winnie down with him.
“I’m disappointed in you,” I tease, shaking my head. “There are many other ways to get me wet.”
The true star of this book is the banter between Scott and Winnie. I loved the sexually infused, hilarious way they talked to each other. These were two amazingly well developed characters. Scott was smooth, and suave and such a selfish asshole all at the same time. Winnie was adventurous and fun while still keeping her mid-western innocence to her. The chemistry between these two was off the charts and I loved how much fun they made sex. As much fun as this book was it also had a whole other drama filled element that took me by surprise and had me on the edge of my seat. Unintentionally and at the expense of feeding my kids a well balanced meal I read this book in one sitting, I just could not stop!
“Scott: I’ve never met a cage dancer who reads in her spare time.” “Me: You Obviously aren’t talking to a lot of cage dancers.”
I loved this book, Justine does an amazing job of writing a funny and sexy story with just enough drama to keep the plot moving. I will mention that since this is book 2 of the series it can be read as a standalone but I honestly believe you will enjoy it so much more if you read book one first. The Reynolds Brothers Series is definitely one I will keep reading and can see my self squeezing in a re-read when I need a little fun sexy pick me up!
