Review

“There are better, more gratifying ways to release your aggression.”

Seeing as how this was a surprise release I basically went into this book blind, hadn’t even seen a cover for it yet and although I knew Anie was a great writer I have fallen for this story and these intriguing characters. Often with serials, even my favorite ones the first volumes are not 5 star reads for me, mostly because you are just getting to know the story and characters so often although I enjoy them I am not fully hooked till volume two. Not the case with Private Affairs, I was hooked from the start and desperate to get the next installment!

“Was staying with him this long, suffering through what seems like a loveless marriage, really worth the money you’re fighting for now?”

Private Affairs is the story of Lena, a housewife coming to  terms with the fact that her husband has completely given up on them having a “real” marriage, and Preston, the private investigator Lena hires to get the proof she needs so she doesn’t leave this marriage worst off than she came into it. I liked Lena from the start, she really gave her marriage a shot but when secrets come out and she finally realizes that the man she loved and married is not who she always thought she was she decides to move forward with her life and in doing so hires the services of Private Investigator and beautifully alpha Preston. Preston is everything I look for in a book boyfriend, protective, a bit demanding, a bit of a dirty talker and not afraid to claim what is his.

“I hadn’t been touched by a man in months, and being touched by Preston was proving to be the most heavenly experience of my life, even if it was just his hands on my cheeks.”

This fist part of Private Affairs proves that this has potential to be a incredibly sexy and exciting story. I am beyond anxious to get the next volume so that I can find out more about what happens to these two characters I have quickly become very attached to!
