Review
Serials for me are generally hit or miss. Sometime I love them and sometimes I feel a little let down. Resist is my first serial by Missy Johnson and overall after reading Vol. 1 I am intrigued. This story has a lot going on and if it all pans out and she keeps up the steam and drama it might just be really good.
“She tenses as I near her, the fat that I still cause that kind of reaction thrilling me. She thinks I won’t hurt her because of our history? Big mistake, princess. I’ll destroy anyone who gets in my way. Even those I love.”
Charlotte is newly out of school and freshly out of a 3 year long relationship after finding her boyfriend cheating on her. She has no where to live, no job and no real prospects. When her best friend alerts her to a somewhat kinky ad for a live in assistant that she knows to be for super rich and mysterious (although, also suspected on murdering his old girlfriend) Jaxon Murphy. She decides this might be the scoop she needs to launch her journalism career. Knowing what all this job might entail she applies and finds herself hired. Let the games begin . . .
“Oh and Charlotte? You won’t be requiring any underwear.”
Overall reading this is kinda like reading a sample of a book. You get a taste of what is to come and it is very intriguing but you still have lots of questions and desperately want answers. Why does Jaxon need so many different girls? Why does trouble follow him? Why would an attractive, educated woman like Charlotte allow herself to be involved in his sex-capades for a story? I feel like there is a lot more to this story than I know and I am highly intrigued as to where it is going.
