Synopsis
THE PIXIE
Lucy Fitzpatrick doesn’t like rugby.
As the little sister of Ireland’s most infamous rugby player, Lucy can’t seem to escape the championship-sized shadow cast by her big brother, or her mother’s frequent attempts to micromanage her future. Her rainbow hair is as free-spirited as her quest for inner peace, yet overbearing expectations keep bringing her down. And when she’s down, her compulsive little problem lands her in seriously big trouble.
THE PLAYER
Sean Cassidy is a cold-hearted brute… or so he’s been told. Frequently. By everyone.
His blonde locks, baby blues, and rock hard bod make ladies the world over drool with desire. As the rugby world’s second most infamous player, he should be basking in his success. But Sean has never been content settling for second place, and his frequent confrontations with Lucy’s big brother leave him cold. And when he’s cold, his compulsive little problem lands him in the lap of Lucy Fitzpatrick.
THE PLAN
Sean has a problem only Lucy can solve. Lucy has a problem only Sean can fix. The solution seems obvious: you scratch my back, and I’ll bail you out of jail. But when their business arrangement unexpectedly leaves Sean scorching hot and Lucy on the precipice of inner peace, can they convince the world—and Lucy’s big brother in particular—that this is the real deal?
Either way, both the Player and the Pixie are about to teach each other some pretty monumental lessons about family, life, but most importantly, love.
Review
‘I looked across the room only to meet a startlingly familiar pair of blue eyes. What the fu– How the bloody hell had Voldemort gotten into the building?’
Ya’ll we NEED to talk about this book, but I can’t tell you too much because FOR REAL you need to discover the secrets this book holds all on your own. I urge you not to read reviews that give too much away because the twists and turns this story takes will make it so much better than you could expect.
“Tell me how to touch you, lovely Lucy.”
Sean Cassidy is a book boyfriend like I have never read before. I won’t tell you why exactly because OMG you just need to learn it for yourself. But if you read The Hooker and the Hermit you will remember Sean as Ronan’s co-player who slept with his ex-girlfriend. When the book starts you aren’t going to like him. He makes it pretty easy to hate him. But it doesn’t take long for your heart to start to soften to him and after just a bit it will be full on melted. His story is sad and his issues feel real and intense. But what these authors do so well in in the middle of all these feelings there are some hilarious moments breaking it up.
‘He was beautiful. Despite all my plans and boundaries, my heart was clenching again with feelings I was too afraid to explore. This was madness. I was mad.’
So let’s talk Lucy. Lucy is the sister of Sean’s main enemy. She is both tough ad soft hearted and she does for Sean what no one else really ever did . . . gives him a chance to be himself. She calls him on his bullshit and embraces his sweetness. Lucy is a crosspoint in her life. Living on her own ad discovering who she is away from her family. When her mom starts to harp on her an old habit/ coping mechanism comes back and threatens to injure the life she is making for herself. No one knows her secret shame but Sean and instead of belittling her for it he embraces her issues and all. But can she get past her brother’s hatred of the man she is falling for and except Sean for who he is?
Sean: I’d send you a “I’d love to lick your pussy” emoticon, but my iPhone doesn’t have one.
Lucy: Those Apple engineers have seriously been sleeping on the job
While both characters are Irish, Lucy is living and working in NYC so you know what that means . . .yup . . .texting. I ADORE texting in books. Seriously adore it and Sean and Lucy texting each other is sheer perfection.
‘Lucy Fitzpatrick was my drug of choice, and has quickly become a necessity. I had no desire to contemplate rehab.’
Honestly this book is one of the best I have read in so long. Full of secret love, a deep sexual connection, angst, humor and a story like I have never read before. These individually are two of my all time favorite authors and when they come together magic happens.
