Pitch Please by Lani Lynn Vale Review

5 SMOOCHES!

 a5 a4 a3 a2 a1

SYNOPSIS:

Baseball is life, the rest is just details.

Everyone who’s played the game has heard those words a time or two. But Hancock has heard them his entire life from his parents. His family has lived and breathed baseball even before he started little league.

Hancock “Parts” Peters has a name that inspires grins across many faces, but the moment those faces get their first look at him, those grins slide away.

Hancock is gruff, filterless, and doesn’t give a crap who he offends. He is the only man in baseball who doesn’t care if he gets an endorsement or not. He’s there to play the game. He’s there to win. He’s there because baseball is his life.
People think he’s a jerk.

And maybe he is. But if that’s how he has to come off to get people to leave him the hell alone so he can play in peace, so be it. The less people he has to worry about offending, the better.

***

Don’t let the fear of striking out hold you back.

Sway Coffman didn’t mean to rock the boat. She was just there to do her job.
Sure, she was a woman in a man’s world. Yes, she beat out several of those men to get the job as head athletic trainer for the professional baseball team, The Texas Lumberjacks. And yeah, she now got hate mail from those men.

But she’s good at her job, and she earned the position.

What she is not good at, however, is talking to men.

Men seem to see her curvy hips, large breasts and thick thighs and automatically think she is incompetent. Because surely a fat girl couldn’t get the job treating some of the most fit and athletic men in the world, right?

Wrong.

This fat girl got the job, and she is proud of it.

What else did she get?

The attention of the sexiest bearded man she’d ever had the pleasure of laying eyes on.
It was enough to bring to her down to her knees…in front of that man, the hot and grumpy baseball player, Hancock Peters.

REVIEW:

I’ve read everything Lani Lynn Vale has written, and I absolutely love her spin on everyday heroes and the woman who capture their hearts. She’s written about bikers, paramedics, firemen and cops, and I’ve loved them all. Pitch Please is Vale’s first at-bat in the sports romance trope, and she knocked it right out of the park! The first story in her new series, There’s No Crying in Baseball, had me hooked and eager for more.

I loved Parts and Sway! Grumpy and gruff professional baseball catcher Hancock “Parts” Peters is known as a bit of a hothead, but he actually turned out to be one of the swooniest heroes Vale has ever written. Shy but sweet athletic trainer Sway Coffman was funny and curvy and caught his eye from the moment he laid them on her. Right from the start, this story drew me in and held all of my attention—I positively devoured it and didn’t want to put it down. Vale’s sense of humor is always present in all of her novels, and it was front and center in Pitch Please. The back-and-forth banter between Parts and Sway was on point and, along with the combustible chemistry between them, made this a story I could not read fast enough.

I fell in love with these characters, and Vale has concocted yet another fictional world—with a host of interesting side characters whose stories I am dying to for—that I cannot wait to visit again. Vale has penned romcom magic in her first go at a sports romance, and she’s definitely started something special in the There’s No Crying in Baseball series. Pitch Please by Lani Lynn Vale gets five smooches from me!

About Someone Like You:

He was a nameless guy in a bar—a man Grace couldn’t get out of her head…
A week later, she came home to find him sweaty and shirtless with a tape measure in hand, remodeling her loft. As a Parker-King, she’s not allowed to want someone like Noah Dalton. She’s sick of her life, though. Sick of the rules of being a Parker-King. She wants something more, even if it isn’t forever. Somewhere in history there was that one time where hot, no-strings-attached sex didn’t end badly, right? Finding comfort in the arms of a former SEAL is easy, not falling for one . . . not so much.

Noah left the military and moved to New York for one reason: his daughter. Not for some uptight businesswoman—a Manhattan elitist. So when Grace offers him the kind of relationship that no hot-blooded man can turn down, he should say no. And when her seemingly put-together life spins out of control, and his instincts to protect and save kick in, he should turn away. But he doesn’t.

Can two people from different worlds really live in the moment, knowing they’re on borrowed time, or is someone bound to get hurt?

Wild Thing by Liberty Laine Review

Liberty Laine - Wild Thing cover image

5 SMOOCHES!

 a5 a4 a3 a2 a1

SYNOPSIS:

I’ve waited my whole life to catch her. They call her a criminal. A con-woman. A thief and too wild for her own good. But me? I just call her mine. –Officer Nathan Trent.

He’s one of the good guys. Honorable. Reliable. I’ve loved him since we were kids. But there’s no way I’ll let my wild ways tarnish his squeaky clean reputation. No matter how badly I wish he was mine. –Tillie Coletrain

Warning: This novella is chock full of sexy times, ridiculous shenanigans, and surprise weddings. You’re welcome.

REVIEW:

I’m just going to come out and say it:  I love smut, and one of my favorite guilty pleasure pastimes is escaping into the pages of quick and dirty little insta-love stories. Liberty Laine’s second novella, Wild Thing, hits that nail on the head, and I’m officially a fan! Having read many of these types of stories, I can admit that there is sometimes a bit of redundancy in this trope. The thing that sets Liberty Laine apart, though, is their wild sense of humor, and let me tell you, this author duo is seriously funny.

Typically these types of stories are all about the bad-boy alpha-male and his quest to land the virginal good girl of his dreams, and that’s all fine and good. But this is Liberty Laine, and they turn that right on its head with a squeaky-clean, good-guy cop and a sassy, naughty girl. Tillie may put up a wall of attitude as high as the fence around the prison she could very well end up in, but Nate sees right through it to the kind-hearted, slightly lost, in-over-her-head girl underneath. Despite her bad girl rep, though, Tillie is really just trying to protect Nate, and her twin Millie, from the mess of trouble that swirls around her.

Nate’s been patient, he’s given Tillie time to get herself together, but he’s done waiting. He’s going to use whatever means necessary, including his handcuffs, to corral his girl and clean up her mess so they can finally be together. Individually the Coletrain twins are handful, but the two together fill poor Nate’s hands to overflowing when they decide to handle matters on their own. Add in a biker looking to collect what he’s owed and the twins’ best friend—who is definitely not the voice of reason—and not even back up in the form of Milie’s bail bondsman boyfriend, Jake, can level the playing field in Nate’s favor.

Jam packed with hilarious antics, wickedly witty banter and enough steam to power a sauna, Wild Thing was an amusing and sexy pleasure to read with a sweet surprise twist that I wasn’t expecting! I demolished this one, loving every single word of this wild ride, and I absolutely cannot wait for more from them! Five smooches from me for Wild Thing by Liberty Laine!

Review

Who else loves the idea of your childhood boy band crush becoming your real life adult fling. I was so intrigued by the blurb and jumped in feet first. Eli was what I would expect from a boy band singer turned cop drama actor and then he was a little bit more.

Initially, he came off as having a bit of a big head, hunting down Heather after she sneaks out from their one night stand. No one ever tries to run away from Eli Walsh. But then he develops into this man with so much more heart and depth. Eli’s pursuit of Heather is relentless but as it morphs from his ego being bruised to a true desire and caring for her. Corinne did a fabulous job of having him grow as the book progressed.

We Own Tonight is definitely different from the other Corinne books I’ve read but in a completely refreshing way. But no fear there is still drama, angst, a a twist that will having questioning what you just read. Grab this one and get swept away in the fantasy of finally getting your teenage celebrity crush all to yourself!

Forget You, Ethan

by Whitney G.
Publication Date: 2017
Genres: New Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Cover Designer: Najla Qamber Designs
Model: Fabian Castro

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer…

I’ve hated Rachel Dawson since I was seven years old. My next door neighbor and number one sworn enemy, she’s the reason why almost all of our childhood fights ended with me setting something of hers on fire. (Or, vice versa.)

She snitched on me when I broke curfew.
I snitched on her when she lied about having a boyfriend.

We went back and forth like this throughout high school, both vowing to never talk to each other again when we went off to college.

But that was until she showed up at my apartment during my senior year and asked me for a temporary place to stay. Until I realized just how much between us had changed, and the line I thought we’d never cross became harder and harder to ignore…

Hot Stuff - about book

HOT STUFF_Amazon Get ready to fall in love with this new standalone sports romance from New York Times bestselling author Kim Karr.

He’s the newly drafted quarterback.

Hot. Arrogant. Too sexy for words.

Ready to score.

I’m an athletic intern, and the coach’s daughter.

Driven. Determined. Prepared to conquer the world.

Completely off-limits.

The NFL is full of rules. Rules I’ve never broken. Never challenged. Never even scratched—until the day Lucas Carrington crashes into my life with his hard body and I-don’t-give-a-f*ck attitude.

After I almost injure my father’s star player, I volunteer to make sure he’s in top shape. At first, it’s hell. I don’t like his attitude, his cockiness, his easy smile. Don’t like the way he oozes sex. Or how his penetrating eyes follow me everywhere.

That doesn’t stop me from wanting him.

He’s meant to be a distraction—something to occupy my mind for these precious few remaining hot summer nights before I’m forced to leave football behind forever.

I know what we’re doing will lead nowhere good. I know we’re crossing the line. And I know my father will never understand.

None of that matters.

But maybe it should.

Rules aren’t meant to be broken.

Or are they?

REVIEW

I knew when I saw that delicious cover that I had to have this book and then the blurb had me like OMG.  Because this is a marching band book, y’all.  And I am a hardcore band nerd.  I got the arc opened it up and the dedication had me all  YES, BAND GEEKS UNITE!  I immediately dove in, expecting some gosh darn New Adult goodness.  And although this is my first book by Stacy Kestwick, it didn’t let me down!  This one is NA gold!

I’m not going to give a run down of what the story is about, but I will tell you that the characters really appealed to me.  Especially Reese.  She was definitely a heroine I like to read.  She was spunky, tough, a go-getter, all qualities that I love.

Laird wasn’t so bad either.  He wasn’t your typical new adult bad boy alpha.  He’s a nice guy, which was kind of refreshing.  It was a nice change of pace from some of the other NA heros out there.  Don’t get me wrong, he was still a kick butt alpha with a ridiculously dirty mouth, but at his core he was a really good guy, not your typical alpha-hole.

The side characters were engaging, some providing comedic relief in great ways and others stirring the pot and creating turmoil.

The story was very well paced and had a little of everything, which are my favorite type of reads.  It made me laugh some, brought the angst and still managed to be fantastically sexy.  The writing was clean and concise and done in a way that kept me flipping the pages and wanting to read when I should have been doing other things.

The sex was, well, sexy.  Extremely so.  There was nice build up of foreplay before the main act and I really appreciate and like that in my NA reads.  One scene in particular really appealed to me.  (cough drumstick loving cough)

So, maybe I love this book because I am a big old band nerd, but I probably liked it because it’s pretty darn amazing.  This definitely won’t be my last by Stacey Kestwick.
