I could not get enough of Step-Lover! I fed my husband some line about not being able to sleep and had to pull my kindle out to read. While he snored, I fell in love with Blade and Aria!

Gripping from the very beginning, I had to know how Aria would persevere after such a horrific tragedy. At eight years old she lost 2 important people in her life. Eleven years later she continues with these burden and has nightmares of that night’s event. When her mother finds love again with Jack, Aria gains 3 new stepbrothers. In an attempt to fuse a family bond, her mother and Jack decide that a month at the lake house would be a great idea. But what is a great idea makes for an interesting vacation for Aria and her best friend Melanie.

From the title of the book, the reader knows that the female lead will fall in love with her step brother. But it was unlike any stepbrother book I’ve read, in a good way. Blade, gah he drew some emotions out of me! He made me want to slap him around a few time but then made me love him and want to be enveloped in his arms. He’s very protective and knows his way around a woman, that’s for sure. Steamy scenes between Blade and Aria will definitely leave your blushing while reading. A gorgeous cover for a beautiful book! I definitely recommend this book to all my book besties! 5 smooches for Step-Lover by Bella Jewel!

Charlotte arrived at work at seven thirty the next morning to find Gabriel Bishop’s office door open, but no carnivorous predator inside. A fresh suit was hanging on the back of his door, however, which meant he’d been in already.

Deciding to catch up on e-mails that had come in overnight from international suppliers as well as stores involved in a stock take, she was typing a reply when a sweaty Gabriel arrived fifteen minutes later. He was dressed in black running shorts and a faded University of Auckland T-shirt that was currently sticking to his body.

She’d known he was in shape, but now she realized none of it was an illusion created by his well-cut suits. Okay, she’d already known that, but seeing his muscled body in the flesh was a whole different ball game. He was built like a tank, hard and powerful.

That desire hadn’t waned even now that she knew he was a T-Rex. Of course, the desire was all strictly in her imagination. The idea of actually handling him in real life? And she shouldn’t be having these thoughts about her boss—especially since she couldn’t keep from quivering like a rabbit in his presence. Sometimes she just annoyed herself.

“Get to work,” she muttered and knuckled down.

Gabriel was fine for the first hour, but then he began barking orders even a six-armed woman with a split personality would have had trouble handling.

Finally, pushed to the edge, Charlotte snapped. “I’m going as fast as I can!” she yelled when he asked her for something a minute after he’d asked her to complete another task.

He scowled and held out a file. “This is a priority.”

What she needed was for the T-Rex who was her boss to stop snarling and growling, she thought as he returned to his office. Not opening the box until her curiosity had almost killed her, she found it held a slice of decadent chocolate cake with a white-chocolate ganache topped with curls of both white and milk chocolate. “I cannot be bribed with cake,” she muttered, eating a bite nonetheless.

Prologue:

“Mommy, I’m hungry,” Maddison spoke from behind me. The

sound of her sweet little voice only made my heart ache more intensely.

“I know, baby. Mommy will find you something real soon. I

promise.” I slowed the car to a stop and reached for the bag in the passenger

seat beside me. Digging around, I pulled out the package of crackers I had

taken from our last stop.

Turning around, looking back at my sweet little girl, I

forced a smile. The last thing I wanted her to see was how unsettled I felt

inside. She looked so tired, and seeing that in her eyes made me feel like a

worthless mother.

Tearing the package open, I handed her the two crackers.

“Here, sweet pea, eat these for now. I know it’s not much, but I’ll get ya

something else real soon, okay?”

Maddison nodded her head and took the crackers from me. “Do

you still have juice left in your cup?” I asked, and she nodded her sleepy little

head once again. “Good, we’ll be stopping real soon.”

Turning back to face forward, I took in a deep breath and

began looking around. I had passed a sign that read “Welcome to Brooklet” about

a mile back. As I looked around, I found myself wondering if there was even a

hotel here in this small town. It was definitely a big change from San

Diego.

With only a little over two hundred dollars left to my name,

I knew I had to make it last. The thought of not being able to take care of

Maddison made me sick to my stomach.

I had no choice; I couldn’t go back. I had to leave, had to

hide out. He had crossed a line that could never be fixed. A life like we were

living had to stop. I couldn’t go on in fear any longer; we deserved so much

more than that.

I knew I was taking a chance by going back home to Palm

Beach, but I needed my family more than ever. I knew it would be the first

place he would look, but it was the only place I could go.

Keeping Maddi safe came first. It was my job, and for the

last six months, I had failed her and the memory of her daddy, Troy.

So the choice to leave in the middle of the night, when Seth

least expected it, was an easy one to make. A choice I would never regret, no

matter how much I had to sacrifice.

Maddi needed stability and security. When she had that, my

needs would come, but not until then. “I need to potty, Mommy,” Maddison

announced from the backseat.

The decision had just been made; it looked like we would

stop in Brooklet for now, at least for tonight.

Looking around for a place to stop, I pulled into the

parking lot of a small restaurant. It was just after seven at night, and the

lot appeared deserted. Two vehicles were parked up close to the entrance. The

rest of it was empty.

Holding Maddison’s hand securely in mine, we walked side by

side toward the entrance.

The smell of grease engulfed me when I opened the door, and

it smelled amazing. It had been hours since I had last eaten anything.

“Is it just the two of you?” an older woman with a genuine

smile asked. I nodded my head as she led us to a small booth in the back.

“Do you have a restroom my little girl could use?” I asked

as I looked around the small dining area.

“Just down that hall, to your left. Can I get anything

started for the two of you?” she questioned.

“Yeah, um, a grilled cheese and chocolate milk if ya got

it?” I replied as I led Maddi toward the bathroom.

“What are you having darlin’?” she hollered after me.

“Nothing thanks. I’m not hungry,” I said over my shoulder as

I nudged Maddi along. I forced a smile as I hurried toward the bathroom.

“Mommy, your tummy is growling.” Maddi looked up at me as I

continued to guide her toward the back.

“No, baby. Mommy ate this morning. I’m good,”

I assured her.

I had decided when we left San Diego that I would only allow

myself one meal a day. Even though I would kill for a juicy burger and fries, I

had to use my head. The money had to last until I found a source of

income.

When we made our way back to our table, I thought for a

moment we were at the wrong one.

There was a large salad at one side, and on the other a bowl

of applesauce. A large soda with a cup of chocolate milk sat in the center.

I stood looking around in confusion, just as the lady who

greeted us put a plate of fries on the table. “Ma’am, I didn’t order all this.

I can’t…” I began to say, as panic set in. She held up her hand to stop me.

“Don’t you worry yourself over it darlin’. It’s all been

taken care of.” She grinned and nudged her head toward the door.

I looked up just as a tall, broad man pushed open the door.

He tipped his head toward me and winked, a dimpled grin gracing his lips. I

stood staring at him until he disappeared through the exit.

“That sweet man just bought the two of you dinner.” She

placed her hand on my shoulder and gave it a reassuring squeeze. “There’s kind

people out there, sweetheart. Colt Thompson is a good man.”

Her final words left an emptiness in my chest. A good

man. I wasn’t sure they existed anymore.

Besides my father, I didn’t know many others. Troy,

Maddison’s father, was a good man—a man who gave his life for his country and

never got the chance to know he was gonna be a father.

My brother was also a good man, but other than those few, I

was starting to feel as though good men were only mythical.

Alexis is escaping with her little girl Maddison from an abusive partner and makes a pit stop in a town on her way to her families home. But what was meant to be just an overnight stay turns in to much longer…thanks to the handsome, kind and protective Colt, who takes an immediate liking to the beautiful Alexis and the adorable Maddison. However will Alexis be able to take a chance and risk her heart once again? And will Colt be able to take it slow and show Alexis he’s the man for both her and her little girl?

“You gave me hope when it had all been taken from me. You didn’t owe me a thing, yet you attempted to give me all you could.”

I have read every story in this series and I enjoyed this one just as much as the other. They are great romances that all have loveable characters and a captivating story lines. In this story we follow Colt’s story and his romance with Alexis. I have to say that I think I loved these two characters the most out of all the books but I think that also has to do with the fact that we meet the adorable and cute Maddison.

“His voice was one of those voices that made you want to keep him talking. It made you feel warm inside and safe.”

Colt is older than the previous guys and that definitely shows but it a good way. He is confident, kind, strong and knows pretty much from the start that he wants these two in his life and he will do what it takes to prove to Alexis that he would never hurt her or her little girl. I also loved Alexis and Maddison. Alexis was a strong woman, she wanted to help herself and do the right thing for her daughter but she was also willing to acknowledge that getting help from others is okay.

“I want you and Maddison not just today, not just tomorrow, but forever. I’m ready to show you girls what love feels like. I have so much inside of me, and I’m ready to shower you both with it.”

The plot just had a brilliant mix of everything. There was romance, laughter, tense moments and suspense. I smiled, I worried, I was on the edge of my seat for some moment and I shouted (in my head) when things weren’t going the way I wanted them to. It was obvious to me how it was going to end but that didn’t bother me, sometimes you just need a good story, with a HEA that makes you feel happy and leaves you feeling in a good mood; and that’s what this story delivered.

“The distance had grown between us, but that was all on me. I made sure I kept the space between us. I just wasn’t sure I was ready for what I knew would happen if I touched him. I knew we were both fighting against the need to feel the other.”

I loved hearing from the previous characters as well, I’m not sure if there are any others in the series but if that was the ending then it every story was perfectly rounded up and if not then I can’t wait to read more!

I’m a bit of a bargain hunter so when serials come out I’m a bit reluctant to buy them unless they’re packaged in one box set but let me tell you if it came to buying Unblocked each time over that bar of Cadbury’s chocolate Unblocked is going to win every time.

Set in the world of luxury reality and power hungry manipulators Unblocked was without a doubt a brilliant surprise. For the first part in a five part serial it was quite lengthy with magnificent attention to detail in a setting I honestly thought I would find dull and lackluster but Marni Mann manages to form a sexy dark and intriguing perspective on it all. The heroine of the tale has integrity, confidence and the work ethic and intelligence that is completely admirable in a lead character. Her wit sparkles and flares off the page especially when paired and sparring verbally with the man who will become her most affluent client, Derek Block.

Derek is sex personified, his inner monologue gives readers insight in to his debauched and scandalous thoughts concerning the opposite of sex, he may come off as conceited or arrogant but believe me it works in his favor.

‘Her panties rested against the top of my zipper, and her hands held the back of my neck as her ankles crossed behind me. She felt so different from anyone else who had been in my arms, unlike any other grains I had touched. She was erotic, rare. Exquisite. The elusive fucking pink ivory-that’s what she was.’

For the first book it’s utterly flawless, the in’s and out’s of the business, the hard fought battle to be top dog and the continuing effort to keep that spot even when certain adversary’s are more than willing to spread their legs to gain that position. Will Derek go for the easy simple way or will he find more than just a business opportunity in vivacious Frankie?

Unblocked is scorching, titillating (I still giggle at that word), sensual and jam packed full of secrets and scandal with captivating characterization and a fascinating plot. Seriously cannot wait for book two to come my way.

“What the fuck is wrong with you.” The guy that was at the head of the group asks stepping in front of my bike.

I shake my head as words are lodged in my throat.

He pulls me off my bike and the men who are with him begin yelling obscenities as well.

“Sorry.” I croak out and I don’t even know if he hears me his hand goes to the collar of my leather jacket and he shakes me hard and my hand accidently presses down on the button for the Taser to ignite it. The loud crack fills the air and his eyes go wide then he falls to the ground and I fall on my ass and crab walk backwards then look up when I hit something only to meet the eyes of another man who looks pissed.

“Get up.” He growls picking me up my feet flail under me as I’m lifted off the ground with my hands restrained behind my back.

“Hold him still.” The guy who I had Tazered growls in front of me as I try to get away from the anger I feel coming off him. His hands go to my head and he rips my helmet off causing my hair to float down around me.

Complete silence descends I swear no one even takes a breath.

“Um.” I bite my lip

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Why didn’t I ever learn to cook? One of the many downsides of losing my mother young is I never learned how to cook things like a turkey. I have a cookbook, but it’s completely useless! Stuffed vs. unstuffed. Did I brine? What the hell is brine? I just need to know how many minutes per pound and at what temperature, but the damn cookbook is American, and my turkey is in grams and the oven is in Celsius. Fuck the damn metric system!

Hazel’s gone, and Gavin is probably as useless as I am. My computer and iPad are both in the solarium where my very tired boyfriend is sleeping. However, I spy Gavin’s briefcase in the front hall. Digging around in it for his iPad, I find a little box. A little robin’s-egg-blue box. His briefcase slips from my hands as I stare at the little box of impending doom.

NO. NO. NO. NO. NO. NO. I have a turkey to cook and a kitchen to try to not burn down. I can’t think about little blue boxes. My cell phone ringing in the distance makes me jump and throw the box across the room as if it’s a venomous snake. Ignoring my phone, I crawl around searching for the box so I can return it to its hiding place, hopefully for a very long time. I give great consideration to “misplacing” the box. No box means no ring. No ring means no proposal. No proposal means not having to think about things that suck the oxygen out of my lungs. Instead, I grab the iPad and walk away, trying to pretend I never saw that box and that I won’t have to have a marriage conversation soon. Denial is beautiful.

The iPad and I figure out a plan for the turkey, and I stick it in the oven. I make the sign of the cross in front of the oven, praying not to burn down the house or give us all salmonella. My phone won’t stop ringing, so I have to go on a treasure hunt to try to find it. In a house with so much stone and marble, sounds echo off the walls, making it hard to figure out exactly where my phone is. Eventually I find it in the library.

“Where the hell have you been?” Em screams.

“Sorry, I lost my phone, and hide-and-seek is next to impossible in this house. Once you get here, you’ll understand. It’s bigger than Sacred Heart was.”

“Hmmm.” She’s trying to sound bored, but I know she’s curious. “I’ll be there soon, I think. The GPS says less than an hour.”

“See you soon.”

Over an hour and a half later, Em arrives. When I open the door, she says, “It’s a fucking castle, Lily. You didn’t tell me it was a castle.” Her driver brings in her bags and sets them by the door.

She hands him a tip. He tips his hat and closes the door as he leaves. I glare at her. “You couldn’t have rented a car? You made the poor man work on Christmas?”

“Don’t look at me like that,” she replies. “That man now has five hundred more bucks in his pocket to spend on Christmas. That’s how the economy works.” She hands me her coat. “Now, show me the loo. That drive from the airport is a bitch.”

While she freshens up, I put together some nosh food and pour some juice.

She walks over to the fridge and starts rummaging around. “Do you have any champagne to go with this juice? I’ll even take some vodka if you have some chilled.”

“I have no idea, but you can check. You’ll be drinking on your own, though. I’m still waking up. Too early for me to start drinking. If I start now, I’ll be asleep before everyone gets here.”

She shrugs. “Yeah, you’re probably right.” A devilish look crosses her face. “Stay here. I have something for you.” She runs back to her bags in the entrance. When she returns she hands me a box wrapped in black wrapping paper.

“What is this? You don’t do presents.” I shake the box but can’t tell what it is.

“No, I don’t. But I had this brilliant idea and had to get it. As you can tell by the wrapping, this is not a holiday gift.”

I tear the wrapping off and laugh hysterically. “What the hell is this, Em?” It’s a package of five dolls that look creepily like Gavin.

She looks at me like I’m crazy. “What do you mean? It’s the Gavin Doll collection. There’s Tux Gavin, G. I. Gavin, Alpha CEO Gavin, Sexually Frustrated Gavin, notice the short running shorts, and Club Gavin. If you push the button on the back it goes ‘unce unce unce.’”

I try to say “What the fuck,” but I’m laughing too hard to formulate the words.

“You always describe Gavin like he’s a Ken doll, and I have a friend in the doll biz. Open it up. I made sure he’s anatomically correct.”

My jaw drops. “You didn’t!” I tear open the package.

She pulls out Sexually Frustrated Gavin and lowers his pants. “Since I don’t have first-hand experience, I had to guess on the dimensions. I tried to be generous. Was I right?”

Blush scorches my cheeks.

“What?” she asks. “Bigger?”

I smirk. “Yeah, bigger. Much bigger.”

She stares at the now naked Gavin doll. “Damn.”

I grab the doll from her. “Stop ogling my boyfriend.”
