Synopsis

** Author’s note: This is a dark romance that will mess with your heart and mind. **

His secrets will destroy her.

Taken.

Humiliated.

Used.

With his smart mouth, dirty talking, and possessive behavior, Sebastian Brand has me hooked in the most shameless way. I’m obsessed with him. However, now that I’ve escaped the mental hospital, he seeks to control my every move.

The overwhelming aloofness in his attitude and the darkness in his mind tells me there is more to this man than sheer dominance. Depravity is his playground and pain is a necessary evil.

Keeping me away was his first instinct.

Capturing me was his second.

Claimed by a man with the exterior of an angel and the mind of a brute, I will do anything to unveil his secrets and face my own demons.

A body in exchange for freedom. A heart in exchange for truth.

Life is never a given. Only a certain death.

This is Volume 1 in the Delirious Series, which contains 3 volumes and a prequel. This book is a full-length novel. These books should be read in order.

Prologue & First Chapter Reveal

Prologue

When the life you know and love falls apart, you cling to the things that keep you safe—the people who bring you warmth and comfort, the ones who take you out of danger and into the light.

As the world came crashing down upon me, I chose to let everything go. My mind wandered into darkness, leaving behind every trace of anguish. It was my mind’s way of saving what was left of my soul.

Holding onto him was the only thing that kept me going. Kept me alive. He became my anchor. Sebastian Brand—the man who pulled me from the darkness and brought me into the light.

I want him. I crave him. I desire him and devour him when he is near me.

However, I never imagined I’d be forced to let him claim my body. That I’d be captured and taken against my will.

That I would come to need this man more than my sanity.

As I hang from the ceiling like a strung-up doll, I feel free. His finger slides down my chest, between my breasts, and moves achingly close to my nipples before returning to my sternum. He traces a line to my stomach, leaving a trail of fire. All my senses come to life as he strokes me delicately, carefully, as if his finger is the baton and I am the instrument he’s conducting. Whimpers that must sound like music to his ears slip from my mouth. I’m a slave to his touch.

This controlling man has me under his power, and I’m loving every shameful, immoral moment that we share.

He bends between my legs and presses his lips down upon my skin. A need so vile and pure grows inside me, and I give in to delirious, detrimental pleasure as his tongue strokes my inner thighs.

I am a captive, and yet I don’t feel like one.

At the mercy of a captivating, passionate man, I come to life.

In the hands of a cruel, vicious monster, my breath is stolen.

Even in the most dire of situations, trusting the wrong person could get you killed.

Trusting Sebastian Brand was the biggest mistake I ever made.

Chapter 1

Providence, Rhode Island – April 20th, 2013

I freeze and let his words sink in. He doesn’t know me. Not even my name. What is going on here?

“It’s me,” I say, placing my hand on my chest. “Lillith.”

He frowns, his nose twitching in disgust. I hate that suspicious gaze in his eyes and the way his body is slightly slanted, as if I’m a lunatic approaching him for no reason.

“And I’m supposed to know you?” he says, raising an eyebrow.

My lip lowers, my heart strangled by tangling dismay. “How is this possible?”

“I’m sorry;

I think you have me mistaken for someone else.” There’s a twinge in his voice, and it’s almost as if he’s in a hurry to speak the words. “Excuse me, Miss, but I have to get going now.”

He steps past me and walks down the sidewalk while I stare at him from behind. I’m baffled—completely shaken—from his blatant denial. This can’t be right. He knows me and I know him.

“Wait!” I call out, and I run after him, blinking my tears away.

“What do you want?” he grumbles.

“Why don’t you recognize me? You know you know me.”

“I’m sorry; I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“Yes, you do. Stop denying it.”

“Miss, leave me alone, please.”

His ignorance hurts, but I won’t let it get to me. “No, I want to know why you’re denying that you know me. You know full well what we did in the hospital.”

He takes a big gulp of air but doesn’t exhale, which tell me he’s upset. Good, he should be. I am, too. I don’t understand any of this.

“Stop ignoring me.” I grab his jacket. He stops and looks back at me, his face so dark, so volatile; it scares the shit out of me. One jerk is all it takes to make me release him from my grasp.

“I don’t know what you want, but I suggest you leave before I call someone.”

“Like who, exactly?”

He starts rummaging in his pocket and takes out his wallet. “I don’t care, just leave me alone! Do you want money? Is that it? Here. Now go away!” He pushes something into my hand. Baffled, I gaze down at the hundred-dollar bill. No, no way.

“I don’t need your money,” I say as I follow him, crumpling it up so I can hand it back to him.

“Then what do I have to do to make you leave?” he says. “Call the cops? Is that what you want?”

“No, of course not.”

“Then why do you insist on following me? You don’t know me.”

“Care to explain how I know your name then, Mister Sebastian Brand?” I scoff.

“You could’ve gotten that from anywhere. I’ve heard about enough now,” he hisses.

“I’m not leaving.”

He doesn’t respond, so I follow him into the building next door to the gym—the exact address that I found on the internet when I searched for him. I knew it; he does live here. Why else would he go in here?

“Mister

Brand, are you honestly going to deny the fact that we have been talking for ages now?” I try to ignore the guard at the desk, staring at us from under his glasses.

“Yes. Yes, I am.” He smiles at me while pressing the button on the elevator.

I make a petty face. “You can’t fool me. I know you know me, and I know you remember all those nights at the hospital. Don’t tell me it wasn’t real. I’m not sure what kind of game you’re playing here, Mister Brand, but I’m not falling for it.”

“Oh, I’m not playing games, Miss. If I was, you’d know.” There’s amusement on the surface of his voice.

“Oh, do tell.”

We step into the elevator, and he presses a button. I look around and notice that even the elevator looks expensive. Wood lines the walls, the bars are colored gold, and on the floor is a velvety red rug. Everything about this entire building is expensive, and from the looks of it, Sebastian is anything but poor.

“I actually happen to enjoy plenty of games, but this is not a game to me,” he proceeds. “This is serious. I’m honestly wondering why you are following me. You do realize I could have you arrested for harassment, right?”

“I’m sure you could.”

He chuckles. “I like that you’re not at all terrified. I admire that in a woman.”

“I’m not intimidated by men in suits, and you, sir, don’t scare me at all.”

“How unfortunate …”

I gulp and look at the numbers on the panel in the wall. There are still a lot of floors to go. This building is huge, and he lives on the top level. This could take a long time. A very long time alone with him. Oh, shit.

As the

elevator doors close and I’m left alone with Sebastian, or whoever in the hell he thinks he is, my heart beat speeds up. I shift in place to try to hide my discomfort. I must push through. I will not leave him, no matter what he says.

“Listen, I don’t know what game you’re playing, but you know just as well as I do that—”

Suddenly, Sebastian grabs my arms and shoves me against the wooden wall, trapping me between his arms. The money that was in my hand drops to the floor.

“What? That I know you or you know me?” He leans forward. “That I did something with you?”

I swallow, staring him dead in the face, not giving in to his taunt. “We had sex.”

Squinting, he steps closer, tightening his grip on my arms. “And?”

“And it was wonderful.”

He smiles cheekily. “Of course it was.”

I breathe a sigh of relief.

“I rock every woman’s fantasy. Too bad it’s only a fantasy.”

“What?” I say. “It wasn’t just a fantasy.”

“Oh, Miss, whatever your name is …”

“Carrigan,” I sneer.

“Miss Carrigan …” The way he says my name sends shivers down my body. “Whatever you have in your mind, you’re mistaken. I would not take a woman and not remember her.”

Don’t call me a liar.”

“I’m not. I simply think you’re confused. That’s okay. I know how to deal with confused women.”

I snort. “I bet you cause most of that confusion.”

He smiles. “Touché. You’re right, I do.” He cocks his head. “And you know what else?” He leans forward, pushing himself up against me. My nipples perk up from arousal, smoothing along his casual attire. Even though he denies every single thing I say, he still turns me on.

“What?” I ask, my lips still parted, inclining toward him.

He moves his head to my ears, making me gasp for breath.

“I mess with their heads.”

I take a sharp breath. Jesus Christ.

He places a hand on the wall beside me, squeezing my arm even harder with his other hand. “What do you want from me, Miss Carrigan?”

“I want the truth. You know me. Tell me you do. Tell me you want me. Tell me you need me. I miss your touch.”

He sniffs in my ear, but then I realize it’s partial laughter. After a while, he opens his mouth, breathing hot air into my ear. I clench my legs together from the heat.

“I don’t need anyone. Ever.”

“I know you said I shouldn’t come to you, but I couldn’t go anywhere else,” I whisper in pure despair. I don’t want him to deny me this. I can’t deal with it.

“You’re right, you shouldn’t have come. You have no idea what you’ve done.”

“I’m sorry …”

“You’re messing with the wrong man.”

I gasp as he reaches for my throat. I squirm under his arms but don’t fight his tight grip pinning me to the wall. Why is he being this cruel?

“You think you know me?”

“No … but you know me. You know I need you … I need you, Mister Brand, to make it all okay again.”

“You need me? You think you need my hands touching you? How does it feel so far?”

I struggle to stay put with his fingers slowly digging into my neck. I cough.

He comes close to my lips, almost kissing me. “You think you want this? Guess again.”

“I do,” I whisper.

“Fine.”

With haste, he spins me on my feet, pushing me down until my face is against the wall and my ass is pointing in his direction. He yanks my dress up and rips my panties down in one go.

“I’ll show you what I do to women that has them shamefully begging.”

Suddenly, his hand comes down on my ass.

I yelp in shock. Jesus Christ, he spanked me.

“Do you like this, Miss Carrigan?” He slaps my ass again, making my body rock up and down.

I push away from the wall, but he won’t allow me to back away.

“Oh no, you’re not going anywhere. You wanted me to touch you then let me put my hands all over you.”

“Not like this …” I whimper as he smacks me again.

“Yes, like this. You might deny it, but I can tell you’re that kind of lady. Someone who enjoys being conquered.” He groans. “What a nice round, perky ass. Cherry colored as well. My favorite.”

“You should see it when it’s not painfully red,” I retort in a brief moment of courage.

He chuckles while spanking me again. “Oh, playing games, are we? I like women who are a little feisty.” He spanks me again, his fingers spreading wide on my ass. “See, now this … this is what I need.”

He growls as he slaps me again, my skin tingling from the burn. I can feel the burn, and yet it excites me like nothing else. “Didn’t I tell you it was a bad idea to follow me?”

I know I’m stuck here, but I refuse to believe it was a bad idea. He is Sebastian Brand, and he knows me. I won’t stop until he says he does. However, I never imagined he’d put his hands on me like this. This elevator has us both trapped, and his hands don’t feel like they’re going anywhere else than on my ass right now. I have to deal with this a different way. “I’m sorry, Mister Brand.”

“Sorry doesn’t cut it.” He smacks me again. “Besides, since you seemed so adamant on having me touch you again, I figured I’d give you what you want.” He jerks my hair and pushes me further down. “Uh-uh, I didn’t say you could leave.”

“I never asked for this.”

“Oh, but you did, Miss. See, that’s the problem. You ask but you have no idea what you’re asking for.”

I growl, and he laughs in return. “Don’t tell me you’re backing out now; it was just starting to get fun.”

“I’m not.”

He squeezes my ass, making me squirm. “Pity.”

The bell of the elevator dings, and then it comes to a stop. We’ve reached the top level.

His hand leaves my ass, making it feel bare all of the sudden. “Playtime is up. I hope that was enough.”

Feeling humiliated, I take in a sharp breath while pulling my panties back up and my dress down. “It’s not.” I won’t back down. He might think I’m scared now, but I’m not.

“Damn, and here I was thinking you wanted me to touch you and that was it.”

I turn around, frowning, a blush growing on my cheeks from what just happened. “Is that what this is all about? Getting rid of me?”

He smiles so cheekily, so infuriating, that I growl from it.

“Aww … are you mad now?” He raises an eyebrow. “I gave you what you wanted. You asked me to need you, and I needed your ass to be red. I have what I want now, so we’re done here.”

“What? You can’t do this!” I say as he turns around.

“Actually, I can, and I have. And now you know what a prick I am. So let this be the final time we see each other.” He starts walking out of the elevator, leaving me with a gaping mouth.

“You just groped me in an elevator and now you leave? Just like that?”

“Just like that,” he calls back as he walks away.

“What kind of man are you?” I ask, baffled, as he stops in front of the only door on this level. He places his thumb on some kind of machine, and the door opens.

“Not the man you were hoping for, unfortunately. I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more help, Miss Carrigan. Goodbye.”

I look down at the floor, utterly shaken, and notice the hundred-dollar bill. I pick it up and throw it at him. “You forgot your money, douchebag!”

“Keep it!” He waves.

His voice resounds in my ears as he shuts the door behind him, not even once glancing back at me to check if I’m okay.

Asshole.

I never, ever, imagined that Sebastian could be such a huge dick, but he was. I wonder why. I still don’t believe him. Nobody in their right mind would touch me like that. Nobody would spank a stranger. Nobody. This has to be a farce. I don’t know why he’s doing this, but I will find out somehow. After all those nights at the hospital, I won’t give up easily. This is not the last time we’ll see each other, that I’m sure of. I’ll make it happen.

Now Callie only has her creator, Tristan Trevosier, to turn to for guidance. But he’s too wrapped up in the debauchery of the Las Vegas rock scene to give a damn about the particulars of being undead. That’s enough to drive Callie crazy on its own, but female vampires are automatic clan leaders.

Synopsis

He’s been her ultimate untouchable desire.

Nothing says happy birthday like a rock god flying thousands of miles to surprise a woman he’s never met. But that’s exactly what happens to Gabi Smith when she gives her long distance best friend a flippant invitation to her laid back girl’s night out. She never expected to turn on the dance floor and find Blake Kennedy’s gaze holding her body captive.

She’s his everything and he’s never laid eyes on her.

Gabi means more to Blake than life itself. She’s his strength, his savior, and the only person who helped to vanquish his demons. No one means more to him than his angel. So when things between them start to sizzle, he’s ready to fight for the future he never thought he would deserve.

Skeletons from his past will threaten his only chance at love…

Blake has come a long way—with Gabi’s help—to leave the hell of his youth behind him, but sometimes memories don’t want to stay buried. Determined to stand on his own for once, Blake is willing to stretch the truth to keep his troubles from burdening the woman he adores.

Little white lies can create black holes in any relationship. Only time will tell if an Aussie with a heart of gold will forgive her bad-boy boyfriend or if the deceit will end his passionate addiction.

Review

Have you ever been worried that even though you have changed your life for the better that your world could change just by one mention of your past? Well Blake Williams feels just that. He has gone down a rocky road to break free from his addiction and in the process fell in love with a woman he has never met. Blake and Gabrielle meet in a chat room and so began their love story. Gabrielle Smith lost her brother to drug addiction and helps Blake on his road to sobriety. These two have talked online for 4 years and have of never met in person, until one fine birthday! Reckless Beat is on tour and Blake surprises his Aussie gal. I believe the chemistry of these two had always been there and when physical contact was made, it just intensified it 100xs. But just when these two can’t get enough of one another, they must be separated by Blake’s dream. And to stir the pot even more, an ex rears here nasty head and tries to manipulate her way back into the limelight. The past can find a way to weasel its way back into your present, and for Blake, he could lose everything.

Eden Summers did it again! I could not stop reading until I knew that Gabrielle and Blake would find happiness. Before I knew it the book was over. I could feel the characters emotions, especially Blake’s. He really wanted to handle his issues on his own but he didn’t know really at what price. I personally don’t think that you need to read Blind Attraction prior to Passionate Addiction, just because I felt this story was character specific and could be a standalone. But do read Blind Attraction for sure, Mitch and Alana have an awesome story as well! Writing definitely improved this go ’round and I hope to read more from Eden.

Most fairy tales end with a happily ever after.

This is not a fairy tale. He is not her Prince Charming about to whisk her away into the sunset. This is a story about betrayal, lust, desire and, ultimately, revenge…

And revenge can only lead to one thing.

Tyler

He was my stranger, my visitor, my shadow in the corner of my room. He stalked me, watched me, knew everything about me. But all I could do was sit and wait. I waited for him to visit me night after night. He was becoming my addiction, my craving, my obsession. He knew every inch of me, but I knew nothing about him.

His calls himself Lotus and, as crazy as it sounds, I think I’m falling in love.

Dean

I wanted to take her, possess her, dominate her, and ruin her. I wanted to ravish her, please her, and consume her until I couldn’t take much more of her.

She will want me to kiss her. She will want me to hold her all night so that she feels a connection with me. I would make it so that she would seek me out in the dark. The one that satisfies her ultimate fantasy. A stranger who sneaks into her room. Someone who gives her the ultimate pleasure, but also seeks to give her ultimate pain. Pain she has never had to endure. Pain that will eat away at her until there is nothing left.

She was my nemesis, I was her lotus. And payback was a bitch.

Review

How do you write a review for a book with so much mystery and just SO much going on? I just have to start off by saying I loved this book!! It was not your run of the mill cookie cutter romance and that is what makes it intriguing.
This is not a fairy tale. He is not her Prince Charming about to whisk her away into the sunset. This is a story about betrayal, lust, desire and, ultimately, revenge…

Our story starts with our leading lady Tyler who is a journalist. Her work is her life and keeps her busy and occupies her mind from remembering her long lost love. She also has this little secret that has occupied her for the past three years. She calls him her Stranger…

This book has so many stories woven in that make it interesting in different ways. Tyler, through writing an article for the paper finds an endearing friend in Jeremy. Jeremy is searching for the girl of his dreams Julie and Tyler is determined to help him find her. The relationship they develop is so heart warming and made me cry more than once! But chaos unfolds in her life as her stranger stakes his claim and  the story unfolds to reveal things that made my jaw drop. The best books make you think about them constantly and talk about them incessantly! That is this book. I could not stop obsessing about what was going to happen next! While this isn’t a sappy love story it does have love but in a darker way that may just rip your heart out like it did mine. Definitely a 5 smooches book and if I could give more I would!!!

Review

“Chains of steel will rust with time. Chains of the heart will only grow stronger,”
OOOHHHH Lawd…I am absolutely loving this series!!!  Sooo freaking good!!
Forgiving Gia is the 2nd book in this series, Saving Abel being the first.  And I can not wait to get my hands on the 3rd book!!! (which I read that Gina is hoping to release by the end of the year…EXCITED!!!)
This book starts off where Abel leaves Gia on the airplane tarmac and this is where my heart continues to break for both.
The deep connection they share leaves him desperate for something he never expected – her love. Her pain brings him the pleasure he craves. Her smile calms the beast that rages within him. Gia loves Abel more than life itself, but Abel is disillusioned by love and wrecks Gia in the process. Her life hangs in the balance. His life depends on forgiving her. This couple must face many truths. Is love enough to overcome the damage that dwells within?
Goodness!  This book can tug at all the feelings you have, heartbreak, love, passion, and people trying to pull them apart.  You just want to smack them across the head to make them straighten up.
I just love this couple tho, Abel is such an Alpha male…umm correction, he is a Hot Rocker Alpha Male.  And he is soo much fun!!!!
Abel Gunner is a rock-star with legendary skills both in and out of the bedroom. He swore he wouldn’t fall for another woman after being schemed and manipulated by an ex-lover. He kept that vow until he met Gia Mastro. The Dom inside of him awoke the moment he set eyes upon the submissive beauty. His dark soul hungered for her submission and affection.
Gia does the whole submissive thing pretty well for her Dom…ummm.  Pretty Well.
Gia’s experiences with love have been nil until meeting the infamous bad-boy rocker, Abel Gunner. Swept up in a mind-bending, Dom/submissive love affair, she’s forced to make decisions that both help and hurt their relationship
This book would have me laughing out loud at their banter and I Loved..loved loved Gia’s BFF Cindy and Abel’s P.A. Chance.  Everybody needs a BFF like Cindy and a P.A. like Chance!!  Chance is just like one of the girls and he is an awesome care taker/personal fashion assistant to Gia..he is a mess.  I just love him, he should probably get his own book.
They both have to face their demons before they can embrace a future together. In the end, they’re faced with two choices: Fight for their love, or die with their demons
Sooo what are you waiting for?? Pick this series up.  You will not be disappointed!!!
I gave this book 5 Smooches!!!

A small gasp fell from my lips as his fingers kissed the paper-thin skin. His eyes held me hostage. The golden brown was now a swirling bronze, raging with the same demanding hunger I knew reflected in mine.

“This sort of reminds me of the forest,” I whispered. “The trees around us—no one else.” My words fell like petals, waiting for Jethro to crush them beneath his glossy shoe.

But…he didn’t.

Tracing one hand from my wrist, along the inside of my arm, and right to my throat, he fisted my ponytail. With intensity that stripped my soul to the very essence of who I was, he pulled my head back slowly, sensually, full of sexual power.

His eyes dropped to my mouth. “I’ll let you in on a little secret, Ms. Weaver.”

I panted, my neck straining against his hold, but I made no move to break the poignant awareness.

“You won that night, but I lied when I said it pissed me off.” His mouth dropped, his tongue licked my bottom lip with the barest of grazes.

Chapter One

Piper

“Breathe in, breathe out.”

His hot breath blows against the dip of my neck. Hands roam my arms as he steadies my position. He

runs his thumbs along my skin as he adjusts me to his liking. My hands shake, nerves flaring, as his body presses closer to mine. His muscles compel me to recognize the strength behind his frame. My eyes flutter, my skin heats, and I breathe in as he moves in closer behind me. His smell invades my senses, and I become lost in the sensation of the few memories I have where his scent burned its way into my brain.

Focus, Piper. Focus on what is in front of you. Disregard the man behind you. Ignore the past he has

begged you to forget time and again.

“Piper,” he rumbles in my ear.

His tone snaps me out of my coma, and I turn my head to peer at him as he looks down at me with

disappointment.

“Yeah,” I answer with a false clueless retort.

Sniper tilts his head to the side. His gray eyes twinkle at me and he bares his straight white teeth when

he grins at me. “You weren’t payin’ attention to a damn thing, were you?”

I make a sound that should never come out of a female’s mouth in front of a man, and I shrug and turn

my attention back to the target. Sweat beads in my trembling hand as I aim ahead of me.

“Piper…”

Oh, for heaven’s sake. “Hmm…”

This is all I can force out at the moment. I wish I could forget the night on the pool table ever happened, but I can’t. Stuck in my head is the blissful memory he wants me to forget.

“Baby, are you even listenin’ to me?”

I flick the safety on my gun and lower it with frustration. “How am I supposed to pay attention when you say my name with that stupid, honey drip?”

Sniper’s touch disappears as he steps backwards and I grow even more exasperated. This isn’t us. We

aren’t afraid to be near one another. Yes, we get mad and we fight, but we never step away from one

another. Ever.

“You had to do that fuckin’ ecstasy with Tea. You had to fuck everything up!”

If he expects me to say I’m sorry, he’ll be waiting forever for my apology. I will not apologize for living my life and having a little fun. I’m young and, sure, I might be running from my shit past, but that is another reason why I live life so free and open.

“If you can’t deal with what happened between us, then we need to take a break,” I say, my words calm.

I pivot on my heels and give the gun to him as I walk away.

“Take a break?” he sputters in disbelief. “We’re not even together!”

I throw my hand up in the air behind me and flick my wrist in a ‘whatever’ movement. “So not the point, Snipe. I meant a break from our friendship.”

Saying it should make my stomach knot up from fighting with him. It normally does, but not this time around. I think I have learned how to ignore the awful feeling that comes over me every time we argue.

“This is crazy talk, Piper. Would you fuckin’ stop walkin’,” he roars over the sound of his stomping boots as he rushes towards me.

Of course, me being the stubborn, bullheaded person I am, I don’t listen and keep walking towards my car. He should have known I was in one of my moods long before we got out in the middle of nowhere to shoot guns. I demanded we take my car and not his precious, beloved bike. Okay, that was a little uncalled for. I love his lady, and I love riding on it.

“Pipe…” he whispers as he maneuvers himself in front of me.

Not that tone, Sniper. Any tone, but that one. The softness escaping him is part of the Sniper I give in

to. The man that reminds me that he, too, is human. That he, too, looks for the same things in life I do.

When my feelings towards him grow stronger, I slam them back down again and build a false image of him to calm the unsteadiness of my heart. If I think of him as a careless, hard ass biker, it helps for a little while. Not long, but long enough for me to get my bearings straight again.

I put one of my hands on the hood of my car, tilt my head down to stare at the gravel, and toe my tire

with my boot-covered foot. I don’t know whom I am trying to fool. He knows I am looking for an out of this conversation he is trying to have with me.

“I don’t know what to do… We are off from how we normally are,” I mumble while I bite my bottom lip, a nervous habit I picked up from Lana in the short time I was blessed to know her.

“Ain’t that the fuckin’ truth, babe. Shit is fuckin’ with me, too. I fucked my best friend, multiple times in one night. You think that’s sittin’ well up in my head?”

I shake my head back and forth. “I had myself back down to thinking just about the pool table incident, Sniper!” I exclaim. “How dare you put that back in my mind?”

I worked so hard at pushing a huge part of that night away.

“Sure, because it’s only fuckin’ hard for you, right? Who knew the best pussy I would ever have would be the pussy of my best friend? This shit has me as twisted as it has you! I don’t want to fall in love with my best friend, no more than you do!” He shoves away from my car and stomps around to the passenger side. “Take my ass home. You’ve pissed me off.”

I take the opportunity to peek over at him as he climbs into the car and slams the door. I have to fix this. Sniper and I are two peas in a pod around the club. The happy ones, the jokesters of the club, and if we go back and we’re jumping down one another’s throats, it’ll cause unnecessary tension.

I open my car door and slink inside without making a sound. I don’t stick my keys into the ignition.

Instead, I lean my head against the steering wheel, press down on the horn, and plaster on a smile as I

turn to look over at him. My cheek rests against the wheel and my smile brightens as I catch the grin he is trying to shake from his face.

“What in the hell am I gonna do with you, darlin’?” He chuckles as he reaches over, grabs my arms, and jerks me into his hard chest. “You’re a pain in my ass!”

I shove away from him before he can squeeze me tight. “Love me, but not fall in love with me. What in the hell were you thinking, saying something so stupid?” I chuckle as I reach for my keys to crank my car.

“God, I’m gonna find me a woman, but I don’t want that woman to be you. No offense, babe.”

I completely agree with him. My love for this man is deep, but falling in love with my best friend would be the biggest mistake of my life. He is my rock. The one person I can always lean on no matter what. If I fell head over heels in love with Sniper, he would destroy me. I would lose that steady ease he gives me.

“Agreed. Love you, Sniper. I do, but we would destroy one another.” I look both directions to insure cars aren’t coming and pull onto the open, deserted road.

“You better not have scarred my dick for life. I’m not playin’, darlin’. Shit! It ain’t even just my cock. I still have the taste of your pussy on my lips.”

And he had to go there. “Savor it, baby!”

His laughter roars in my ears. “Piper, the Pied Piper of pussies!”

That son of a bitch. “You suck. I’ve a good mind to dye my hair to piss you off.”

His amusement stops cold, and my skin prickles at the daggers his eyes shoot at me. “Do it, and I swear I’ll sit on the roof of the live-in and use your car for target practice.”

He would, too. Everything has to be real for Sniper. It’s an obsession for him, and he loves that about

me, his best friend. I am one hundred percent genuine.

“Then come up with something else. Pied-Piper doesn’t do it for me.”

He drums his long fingers on the windowsill. “It was meant as a compliment.”

Yeah, right. Sniper is straightforward with those. He hands them out on a regular basis. “Liar.”

As we drive down the long road back to the MC, my mind wanders. If he finds someone, and she doesn’t like me, our friendship will be over. Our easygoing banter will cease and I will be left devastated. I don’t care for those odds. I can’t fall head over heels in love with him, and I risk losing him when he does find someone. The steady hum of my heart isn’t so steady anymore. Now it beats hard and fast against my chest cavity.

“Snipe…” I squeak.

“Yeah,” he answers.

I square my shoulders and refuse to take my eyes off the road. “What if whoever you find doesn’t like me, and she demands you cut our closeness, what then?”

His hand drops onto my bare thigh and his fingers dig into my skin. “If she doesn’t like you from the

start, she’s gone. I won’t even have a chance to fall in love, because whoever I fall in love with, she has to love you as much as I do.”

Sure, it is sweet, but it doesn’t ease my anxiety, and he senses it.

“Slow down and pull the car over,” he demands through gritted teeth.

I take my foot off the accelerator and mash the brake as I pull over to the side of the road.

“Look at me, baby, cause we ain’t goin’ no further until this shit is cleared up.”

I lean all the way back in my seat and turn my head towards him, my eyes watering as I do.

“Me and you, we’re thick as fuckin’ thieves, darlin’. You’re like one of the guys, but pretty and clean.

You joke around, you love, and you live life to the fullest. Our friendship is… Our friendship is special and always will be. I’m not lettin’ a single person fuck that up, not even one of us. Understand?”

I chew on the inside of my lip as a single tear slides down my right cheek.

“Hell, baby, you’re learnin’ how to shoot a gun so we can have more in common. What best friend does that shit? I may be a dude and all, but I’m pretty sure that is a fuckin’ killer friendship, and I would be stupid to let someone fuck that up.” He wipes away the lone tear hanging on my chin. “With you, it’s as if I’m hangin’ with one of the guys, but only I get to stare at pretty when I do. You’re stronger than most of the brothers, too. The stuff you went through ain’t right, and you deserve my loyalty. You’ve been let down so much in your lifetime, that I’m vowing you will always have me and my loyalty as if you were a brother. So if I say I ain’t lettin’ a single person ruin what we have, you best believe me, babe, shit won’t happen.”

I exhale and say the one thing I can. “Love you.”

His gray eyes twinkle. “Love you, too, Pied-Piper. Take my tired ass home.”

He has to joke the seriousness away.

Crystal Spears has always had a passion for literature. She fell in love with reading at an early age.

After spending a decade in business management, she began blogging and book reviewing, only to find that that didn’t satisfy her craving. So, she began to write. Like any Indie out there, she had goals and dreams. She wrote Talania – a trip down memory lane, a beautiful, contemporary romance novel. It almost made it to the top, just almost. Someone told Crystal to write what she knew. She gaveserious thought to that advice.

For many years, her father had been CEO of a well-known gun and surplus store in Texas. He then

bought a tattoo shop where Crystal found herself surrounded by bikers. Hardcore bikers. The Bestselling Breakneck Series was born when Crystal decided to write what she knows. Don’t get the wrong idea. Her Breakneck series is completely fictional, but based on things seen and heard, she now had a place to start writing from that knowledge. Seize Me was hardcore, and Crystal became the writer known as the chick with no boundaries. She took the critics the wrong way and made her next bestseller Withstanding Me a little tamer. Readers were quick to point out that they did not like that and demanded that Crystal return to gritty writing. When asked if she would write gritty from now on, her only answer was… “I’ll write what my readers want me to write, and I’ll also write what I feel.”

Crystal resides in Indiana with her husband and their two children. They have a pit named Dozer, two

fish, and one fancy rat. They enjoy the outdoors, and camp, fish, and go boating as much as possible.

Excerpt

I push Shay in front of my body. She tries to pull away, but I tighten my grip and lean down to whisper in her ear.  “Don’t move.”

My voice has her shaking; her fear is so strong that I swear I can taste it, but this shit has to be done.  Putting my hand under her chin and lifting her eyes to the crowd.  I run my other hand up to cup her breast, making sure the boys get my point, as I start to talk.  “Take a good look, brothers.  This here is mine.  If I even hear of one of you laying a finger on her, I will fuckin’ kill you.”

A few hoots and hollers fill the room, but I ignore them. I look around, just to be sure everyone understands.  “I claim her as my property.  She’s my Old Lady. Stay the fuck away from her.”

With that, I lower my hand from her face and place it on her arm.  I pull her along as I make my way to my room.  As soon as I step inside, I slam the door.  Looking down at her, I lay out the rules.  “Never fight me in front of those boys, and I mean fuckin’ ever.  If you don’t like what I do, tell me when we’re alone.  Throw all the sass you want behind closed doors, but never show anything but complete respect in front of them.”

Her face is hard.  Instead of the tears I expected to see, her eyes are burning with anger.  “So, I can say whatever I want right now?”

Her voice comes out in a hiss, as she crosses her arms.  Every inch of her is vibrating with fury, and she looks hot as hell.  I nod, trying not to crack a smile.   “Yeah, any fuckin’ thing you want.”

She lifts a hand, point a finger at my chest.  “Next time you decide to treat me like a piece of meat, give me a little warning.  Tell me you’re about to parade me in front of a bunch of bikers and let them look their fill.  Don’t scare the hell out of me like that.”

“Is that all?” I ask, still working to keep my laughter in check.

She moves forward, her finger now poking me.  “I’ll treat you with respect, but you are going to do the same for me.  I’ll play your little lap dog in front of your friends, but you better not do something like that to me ever again.  If you do, I’ll be out of here and back at Nina’s before you can even blink an eye.”

The humor of the moment dies a fast death, and I reach down and grab her.  Walking her back to the bed, I push her down and climb over her.  As I cage her body below mine, I start to speak.  “Never fuckin’ threaten me again.  You’re not going to Nina’s or any damn where else.  You’re mine, and you better never forget it.”

And he must face his fear that in order to save her, he may have to lose her after all…

Review

As I am sure you are aware, we were left with a huge cliffy at the ending of One Night Promised and while I could have murdered Jodi for it, I fully expected it.  She just loves to keep us guessing and on our toes and I actually really love that about her books.  The mystery, intrigue, and crazy men are why I read her books.  Tie in her fabulous writing and I am sold.  I could spend forever in the worlds she creates and Miller and Olivia’s world was no different.

The ending of One Night Promised left me rocked.  I could not possibly see how Olivia could move on after what occurred and his lifestyle.   It just seemed like to far a giant leap to me but, hey, we are talking about the crazily sexy Miller here, so maybe anything is possible?

“God paid extra special attention when crafting you.”

Yep, Miller is definitely God’s gift, but that is part of the problem, is it not?  😉

He is complicated and crazy and incredibly sexy.  It makes for a heady combination and like Olivia I found myself loving him despite it all.

“I love your bones, Miller Hart,”

Miller and Olivia spend much of this book going back and forth in the way that us romance readers so enjoy;  I love you but I cannot be with you and be with me now.  I truly enjoy the drama of these books and the sex is crazy off the charts hot.  I love that Olivia cannot resist Miller even when she knows he is really the most terrible of ideas.  And I love that Miller persues her with the abandon of a truly crazy in love man.  That has to be my favorite part of all of Jodi’s books.  Her men get CRAZY IN LOVE and they make me smile and giggle at their antics to get “the girl”.

“Why me?”

“Because when I look into those bottomless sparkling sapphires, I see freedom.”

I have found this series a tad more dark than Jodi’s This Man series and that is fine because I am still really enjoying it.  You get a few more answers this go around but not enough!  I am literally dying to find out what the heck is going on.  There is still a ton left to find out in One Night Unveiled and this one left us with a big cliffy too!!!   AHHHH, Jodi, I love you and I hate you!  😉  ~Amie
