Synopsis

Abigail Stevens, an efficient and no-nonsense editor for one of the biggest names in the romance novel industry, has a big problem. She’s been desperately in love with Anthony Tate, Mr. Romance-Writer himself, for the last four years. She’s settled for friendship and professional success for the last four years, but now the sexy writer needs something more from her and she can’t find a reason to refuse.

Tony Tate has built a career centered on his identity as America’s most romantic writer. That identity does not include a debauched temper tantrum in the aftermath of his very public break-up with his on-again, off-again girlfriend. Tony has known that Abby has had the hots for him since the moment they met, but when his Plain Jane best friend and controlling editor ends up being his only option to exorcise his demons and pent-up sexual frustration, he can’t wait to break her prim and proper shell.

As Tony and Abby push each other farther than they’ve ever gone before, the question becomes, who will break whom?

Review

Abigail Stephens is responsible for the success of author Anthony Tate. Working for a publishing company and assigned to Tony, Abby goes above and beyond to make him a household name. Abby built the empire of Mr. Romance in 4 years and is extremely dedicated to her job. Hiding behind the love of her job, Abby has loved Tony from the first time they met. Sadly Mr. Tate is oblivious, taking what he wants when he wants it is the norm for this best selling author. A turn of events opens the door for these two. Even though both promised nothing during their sex-capades, feelings come to surface from both Abby and Tony. Realizing he doesn’t want to lose Abby he steps out of his norm and defies his stereotypes.
The read was slightly predictable and quick. For example, Tony turns his interest toward the bimbo that is familiar with fame, prenups and doesn’t want kids. Then later realizing the one he wants was always around in the first place, Abby. And as the plot thickened, Abby did go back and forth a lot in her dilemma. One minute she loved Tony, then the next she hated him, then love again, then used him like no other. So brace yourself for that bit of the book. Another hiccup in my review is the format in which the book was given to me to review. There were page breaks with BREAK ME and AUTUMN STARK randomly. I switched fonts and font size and it didn’t seem to fix it. There would also be random spaces in dialogue and I had to pay attention to where the quotations began and ended. In their defense it may just be the format. Apart from those things, I did like the book. I would recommend this book to the working mothers that want to escape for a few hours. Personally I am looking forward to All In, book 2 in the In Plain Sight Series since my favorite outspoken character of Jay can get his chance at love. 3.5 Smooches for Break Me by Autumn Stark.

Born and raised in Southern California, I left to explore the world courtesy of the U.S. Navy. I’ve lived in San Francisco, New York and Norfolk, Virginia, but prefer to call San Diego home these days, with my husband, Henry (the inspiration for all the romance).

Learn more about Barbara!

Writing as art, and how I learned to embrace my artistry.
First, let me say that I come from an extremely talented family. There are any number of gifted and recognized painters and sculptors lurking in the limbs of my family tree. My grandfather is a well-known painter, my uncle, mother, brother. Me? I can’t draw a box to climb out of!  So, with this in mind it’s easy to understand how I grew up thinking I had zero creative talent.
And yet – I’ve crafted stories as long as I can remember. As a young girl I would write plays and act them out with my friends, as a (typical) teenager, I filled stacks of notebooks with poems and short stories. As a young adult, I gifted (LOL) family members with stories I’d written. Lying in bed on any given night, unable to sleep, I would spin fantasies and makeup tales to help me sleep.  I still do.

It wasn’t until recently (that being a relative term) that I began to seriously consider the craft I practiced as a creative, artistic outlet.  My husband had been nagging me (really – no nice way to put it) to write a book and I finally took him up on it. I wrote my first book over a couple of months; did some basic editing and sent it around to friends, family and relatives.
They loved it. They praised it. They commented on my artistry and creativity. I sat there with my mouth open, dumb-founded. Me, creative? Artistic? Really?  As much as I’ve loved the written/spoken word, as much as I’ve appreciated the craft and talent of other writers, I couldn’t see the same attributes in my own work. I couldn’t connect my own ability to develop a pleasing piece of prose with that of Steinbeck, Faulkner or Whitman. I could not think of myself as an artist.

But I was. I am. I will always be.

The first book hasn’t gone anywhere. It needs a woeful amount of revising before it’s ready for public consumption, but it taught me so much! I’ve learned I have a unique voice and I need to not only trust in it, but to give it free rein. I’ve learned I have stories to tell that people want to hear, and I should follow my gut when deciding what to write. And it taught me to polish, polish, polish until it shines so bright you need sunglasses to read it, then set it adrift in the universe of publishing.

Because art is meant to be seen, whether on the wall, on film or on the written page.
What’s your writing process?
Hmmm – there really is no process. I’ve often referred to my writing style as “verbal vomit,” (sorry for the gross analogy)! When the story hits and takes hold, there’s almost nothing I can do to stop it. I have to capture all the words as the spill out. I’ve learned the hard way to capture the story when it hits – and have been known to jump out of bed in the middle of the night and jot down those flashes of insight – or risk losing the thought.
When and where do you write?
Hah! Good question. I have an office at home and I usually climb into it after work each night and most of the weekends. I refer to it as “the cave,” though it’s quite nice and sunny. Finding time is hard. I have a (more than) full time job, try to hit the gym 4 or 5 days a week and am clinging desperately to what social life I had! Family always comes first, of course, but I will admit there are times I resent not curling up with my characters. My poor husband caters to my idiosyncrasies and never complains when I neglect him – though he has a right to!
Speaking of your husband, you’ve said he’s the inspiration for all your heroes. How and Why?
Well, besides the fact that they are all tall, dark haired and incredibly handsome – all of my heroes are strong, gentle and affectionate. They don’t super-impose their needs and wants on the main characters – instead they support and encourage the independence of the women they love. That’s my husband – and that inspires me. I don’t think it would have been possible for me to accomplish all that I have – personally, professionally and as an author – if it were not for him. I’m one lucky gal!
Where do you get your stories and characters?
Oh, geeze – stories and characters are all around us! Sometimes it’s something that’s happening right in front of me, sometimes it’s just an interesting person or conversation. I try and take ordinary events and people and place them in unusual circumstance, which means I spend a lot of time asking myself “what if?” and then following where it leads. I’m frequently surprised where the story does go, being a complete Pantster!
Even as a Pantster, you must have some idea where a story is going in order to write a complete trilogy. How do you do it?
I do have the story ARC laid out in my head and I’ll usually scribble some general notes for specific scenes I want to include, but those are very rough and often won’t make it into the final version. I like to let my characters drive the story, and I like to put them in predicaments they have to find their own way out of. Book 2 of the Phasms trilogy (coming Fall, 2014) was the perfect example of what happens when your characters come to life: Kelsi and Bryn ended up hijacking everything I thought was going to happen. The last scene in book 2 remains the same as I’d originally envisioned it, but everything between the beginning and ending was a complete surprise.

Synopsis: For twenty three year old Katrina Smith, the events of one day irrevocably changed her life.

Life in Christchurch, New Zealand, couldn’t have been better. She was in love with a wonderful man, had a job she enjoyed, and had her life mapped out before her…

What dawned as a typical summer’s day, changed into a day of devastation and overwhelming loss. An insidious danger lay beneath the benign land surface, seismic tension, like a ticking time-bomb, was counting down to a catastrophe. And Kate and her boyfriend, Daniel, were in its path. It took mere seconds for the world to be ripped out from under her. Suddenly, Kate was deluged by a vortex of Post Traumatic Stress, guilt and crippling anguish.

Dominic Dell’Antonio, an American marine working in New Zealand, was a man hiding from his own demons which lurked behind depthless blue eyes that read so much, yet yielded so little. He kept himself aloof and isolated. Nightmares regularly plagued him.

As Kate slipped under a suffocating wave of heartache, she blocks out the world behind self imposed walls, drowning in the torrents of grief. Quiet, yet commanding, Dominic connects with Kate on some inexplicably deeper level. He wants to protect her. He wants to make her his.

Two damaged and guarded souls drawn together through tragic circumstances. Two lonely hearts drawn to one another to find comfort.

With each passing year, Kidd’s feelings for Ice grows and the urge to make her his becomes stronger. Frustrated and jealous, he finally decides it’s time to make her his.

Will Ice finally thaw out and give love a chance, or is Kidd fighting a losing battle?

WARNING: Renegade Lady contains adult situations some readers may find offensive. This is a raw and gritty story involving explicit sex, graphic language, violence and drug use. Not intended for readers under 18.

Review

Holy Smokes!  I have no idea why I waited so long to read this book.  I absolutely love MC books and I should have snatched this baby up as soon as I saw it.  Renegade Lady is a true MC book in every sense of the word.  It was gritty, raw, dark, and sexy.

Kidd and Jenna’s story is not an easy one.  Jenna’s, specifically, starts out very dark.  She is raised by a mother who doesn’t show any interest in her at all and an absent father most of the time.  When her mother dies she goes to her fathers motorcycle club to tell him she needs his help.  At the tender age of 16 her father gives her to another member of his MC in exchange for his silence.  Poor Jenna is subjected to way more than anyone should have to bare.  Eventually, Jenna is rescued by Chipper, who becomes her surrogate father and his wife, Mindy, who loves Jenna as her own daughter.  Kidd is Chippers brother and the moment he meets Jenna, he knows there is something special about her.  He wants her but knows that she is just a kid.  He plans to wait until her eighteenth birthday when he can finally have her.  But fate has other plans for Jenna and Kidd.  Life is not always so easy and death, regret, and guilt get in the way of their chance at happiness.

Kidd and Jenna’s story spans years and years.  It is full of heartache and longing.  Renegade Lady literally had me gripped from the very first page.  The writing is very good and I honestly couldn’t tell there was two writers.  I have no idea where one writer left off and the other began.  I really loved it.  If you are a fan of other MC books, you will love this one.  I cannot wait for the next installment in this series, Renegade Reject.

Synopsis

Meet… …Working single mother Isabel Chambers. An Acute Attraction is a heart warming, exciting and compelling story of love and romance, full of seductive, sensual and tantalising emotions and images, sexual exploration and passion. Isabel Chambers is an ordinary, working, single mother of two, who needs some “me” time, so, kids sorted, she books herself into a hotel for a week of rest and relaxation. Marc Sanders is an American professor at Harvard University and is in England to present research results to Cambridge University. Two people, out for adventure and excitement, meet and begin a journey of fun, thrills, lust and desire. But, is Marc all he seems to be? What is he hiding?

Review

This book follows the story of Isabel and Marc. Isabel is a single mother who is having a week holiday on her own, she is spending her week in a hotel enjoying some alone time. Marc is staying at the hotel as part of a business trip, Marc comes from the US and is there to present to the local university.

Isabel and Marc meet at the hotel and they don’t seem to spend anytime separate after the first meeting apart from when Marc has to attend to business. Marc makes Isabel feel special and he starts to give her confidence back that she has lost in the past.

We get to meet a person from Marc’s past in the book, who seems to be out to cause trouble. The first meeting between the two women doesn’t seem to go well and we are left wondering what problems she is trying to cause between Marc and Isabel. We don’t have to wait long to find out what it is that she wants, as Marc soon opens up and tells Isabel what the issue that he has with his friend is.

The reason for not giving more than 3 and a half stars, is because I personally couldn’t really connect with the characters and I felt at times the book was rushed. This being said I am left wondering what will happen in the next book as the ending left you with questions.

Author Bio:

Picture

Nicole lives in Texas with her husband, Colt, three kids and four dogs. It’s quite the household and most of the time you’ll find her locked away in her office… writing. When she’s not, you’ll likely find her reading, swimming, or hanging out in the yard with the dogs, doing her best to keep them in line. (And no, it doesn’t usually work)

Ever want to let that other part of you loose? The part that has secret desires and taboo fantasies? Well, that’s what brought about Nicole Edwards. She’s an alter ego. In truth, she’s a full-fledged part of me. The secret part made up of sinfully hot desires and erotic thoughts. Get to know how Nicole’s naughty mind works by checking out her books!

About me… hmmm…

Ok, I’ve been asked to provide a little bit of “real” information about myself. That’s harder to do than you think it is, especially for someone who has difficulty talking about themselves. 😉 But, here goes…
I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. Ever since I was a kid, I loved creative writing and as I got older, I got acquainted with those voices in my head and that led to putting my stories on paper. And now, here I am all these years later, spending my days doing what I love most. I decided to give myself over to writing full time in 2012 and I haven’t looked back. I spent nearly 13 years in the corporate world and I have to say, this is a bit of a change (just a little) and I am loving every second of it.
I live in Texas with my husband and three amazing kids and our four beloved dogs. If I’m not writing, I’m usually reading. I devour everything I can get my hands on. I love romance of any type and being an Indie author myself, I’m always looking for new Indies to support. I haven’t always been into reading, but about eleven years ago, I picked up a book – I’m pretty sure it was by Nora Roberts – and from there, I haven’t stopped. Before I began writing full time, and my characters started taking up so much of my time, I was reading about 200 books a year. That has dwindled somewhat, but there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t read.
An interesting fact… I don’t watch television – aside from the occasional news anyway. I will go see a movie or two rarely, but for the most part, I get all of my entertainment from a book. Some of my favorite authors include J.R. Ward, Suzanne Brockmann, Lora Leigh, Jane Rylon, Lori Foster, and Jaci Burton just to name a few.

Synopsis

Nia has one rule—don’t date neighbors. Simple, except the guy next door is single, handsome, and not inclined to close his blinds while naked. When her car dies, Conn takes “being neighborly” to a new level by offering a ride to her long-distance destination. Nia has resisted his looks and charm for months. Surely she can handle a few hours in his truck…

For months, Conn has blatantly put himself on display, hoping his pretty blonde neighbor would tire of secretly watching and come knock on his door for a cup of sugar-or more. No such luck—until an unusual opportunity arises. After a six-hour drive turns into a sweet-and-sexy weekend, Conn wants more than neighborly status with Nia. To get it, he must convince her to break the rule protecting her heart—by putting his on the line.

*hot contemporary romance with some explicit sexual content*

Review

Conn has always fancied his cute, sexy, innocent but very shy neighbour Nia and when the opportunity arises for him to spend hours with her in a car he jumps at the chance, so along with his adorable dog Zeus, him and Nia are forced to spend time together which in the end leads to a steamy night in a motel along with Conn meeting the family. The question is can Conn convince his shy neighbour (who has a rule about not dating men who live close to her) that they deserve more than just one night together? And will Nia let down her walls a little and let Conn into her heart?

“One word and I’ll give you anything you want, everything you need.”

This was a fun, flirty, easy, light read. If your just looking for a nice and easy romance to make you smile on a rainy day then this is the perfect story for. If you are looking for something with a bit more substance or that has some action/drama or suspense to it then this isn’t the one.

“I’m discovering I like you every way.”

I actually loved both Conn and Nia. I think they were perfect for this story.
Nia was adorable, she was shy but funny and I thought it was sweet when she would “squeak.” I think some readers may find her purity a bit annoying but I honestly loved it and she was someone who was so easy to like and relate to.
Conn was just the perfect male really. Good looking, kind, sweet, funny and just an all round nice guy. You really couldn’t dream up a better guy and you really couldn’t imagine a more perfect match for Nia. It also helped that he had the cutest dog in Zeus.

“Tonight she was Conn’s sweetheart. His lover. Somebody he refused to let get away.”

The plot line was good if you are looking for an easy romance. It was light-hearted and made me smile. It was funny, sweet, warm with a bit of sexy thrown in and it left me feeling happy on a rainy day.

“Be my girl, not the girl next door.”

Review

We have all loved Sam and Logan since the first book in the Club Destiny series, Conviction. Watching them grow as a couple has been a great experience and this book was no different. If anything, I really found that Sam and Logan came into their own and came to some big realizations about who they are as a couple in Entrusted. Elijah is the third member in this poly-amorous relationship and he is relatively new to the Club Destiny series having briefly met him in Perception but not really knowing much about him.

I feel like there was a very important fourth member of this developing relationship and that is Beth, Elijah’s late wife. Elijah has never gotten over Beth’s death and will love her completely forever (much the way Sam and Logan love each other.) I love how Sam and Logan incorporated Beth into their relationship by constantly talking about her and even visiting her grave with Elijah. Together they all learn that there is plenty of love to go around.

Sam and Elijah quickly develop feelings for each other that go deeper than just sex and even Logan and Elijah developed into more than just threesome partners by quickly becoming close friends with a mutual respect and protectiveness of each other. For me this book was filled with emotion and hard decisions. I really enjoyed how not one of the three involved went into this relationship lightly all thinking hard about how this would change their individual relationships .

entr

Elijah had the utmost respect for Logan and Sam’s marriage and along every step of the way, he put their marriage first and was very careful not to cross any lines they were not 100% comfortable with.  For me personally, this was a very endearing quality and I found I was fast falling in love with this sexy British man! Not one time in this story did he make a rash decision without checking with everyone and talking through the decisions they were making.

Nicole Edwards has a way of pulling you into the craziness that is her mind and never letting you leave. There has never been a book by her that I have regretted reading and I often find myself recommending them to those around me. Anyone who has been following Sam and Logan’s story since the beginning will not want to miss this!

Synopsis

The exciting conclusion to Pushing Limits (Fighting Love Book 1)

New town? New life? Yeah, none of it was easy for Amber Turner, but meeting Tommy Bolt changed that. He healed the old wounds and made this callous, sarcastic girl believe in love again. Believe that she could be loved for something more than just a prop or a mirror image of someone else. That she could be seen, really seen, and loved despite her flaws. But one stupid mistake and one huge misunderstanding left her heart broken into tiny shards of glass. After weeks of waiting to hear from Tommy, she texts Tommy asking him to let her explain.

She got nothing. Crickets. Nada.

Not one text or even a simple phone call telling her they were done. Who does that?

After weeks of moping, her friends try to lift her spirits and help her to move on, but she still struggles with the memory of him. That boyish smile complete with dimples that come out to play, his hard body, the way he could make her body sing, and his sparkling sapphire eyes. Nothing about Tommy is easily forgotten. Amber is confronted with new choices as some old secrets come back to haunt her, threatening to destroy everything she ever believed about herself.

Review

Pushing Boundaries picks up from the end of the first book Pushing Limits where Amber is storming out of the club, desperate to get away from Tommy, the boy who broke her heart when he wouldn’t listen to her and asked for space which led to him not contacting her for weeks on end. But Tommy isn’t about to let Amber go and they both want to give the relationship another go. However with the evil bitch that is Lily who has been tormenting Amber since she moved there, as well as Amber’s mother and the drama that is college life, it’s not going to be an easy ride for Amber and Tommy by any means.

Having read the first book and enjoyed it, I looked forward to starting the second and it didn’t disappoint.

Amber is a fierce as ever. I loved her strong personality in the first book and she carries on with it in this one as well. She is fiery, flirty, confident and doesn’t back down. A really strong female lead.

Tommy is as ever the sexy southern charmer, with a filthy mouth that I love and his dirty side mixed in with his southern charm is one of the best combinations for a very fine book boyfriend. When he says the word darlin’ and I imagine it in the southern accent, I melt a little inside.

“Nothing sexier than a women who knows her own body”

Sex is a very big part of this story and sometimes too much sex can get a little tedious if it’s not meant to be an erotica, however with this book the sex scenes were beyond hot! Tommy with his dominant behaviour and Amber with her self confidence made for explosives scenes between the two. I loved how they were both so confident with their own bodies and each other. My only slight issue was how many times they called each other baby during sex, it felt like it was in nearly every line they spoke to each other and was just a bit too repetitive for me.

“I have a hard-on for fine looking women, especially spitfires.”

The plot line was good, it wasn’t amazing but was what I expected from this book going in. It starts off focusing mainly on Tommy and Ambers relationship and how that develops, like her meeting his family (who I absolutely loved) and the drama of his ex-fiancé coming into the picture (this author really does conniving, jealous and mean ex’s really well and I love a little bitchiness in my books.)

There were other story lines which kept me hooked like everything with Amber’s mother and who was attacking the girls at the college. I didn’t mind these different aspects of the story as they are all what kept it interesting and wanting to keep turning the pages so I could find the answers to the questions.

“See it’s a sign of respect and love. Sure it’s about power, but I want you on your knees because you want to please me and I like it”

I liked the ending, the last chapter or two were very fast paced and the answers to who was hurting these girls came about very quickly. I would have maybe liked an epilogue, just a bit more detail about what happened after everything came to a conclusion.

But overall this was a story that was filled with sex, fun, drama and a little suspense which made it a really enjoyable read and I will look out for more from this author in the future.
