5 Smooches!
Synopsis
My name is Milo Caro and I have a confession to make.
I’ve been in love with Colton Mathews since I was five. He should have known that sharing a cookie with a sugar obsessed little monster would do the trick–it sealed his fate. So really, the fact that he’s sporting a black eye, a limp, almost got ran over by a car, and was nearly responsible for another person’s death? Right. HIs fault. Not mine.
I made a pact with myself–this weekend would be different. I’d come home for my brothers wedding, smile, and Colton would naturally melt into my arms, we’d get married have five kids, live in a house by the river, and get a dog named scratch (clearly I’ve thought this through).
What really happened? I punched my brother in the face, Colton kissed me and apologized, I lied about having a boyfriend, oh and everyone wants to meet the mystery man.
They say laughter always comes before insanity–ha, ha. All I wanted was my brother’s best friend…instead I’m sitting in prison.
Let this be a lesson to you all…life rarely happens the way you want it to.
Damn cookie.
Review
Lord Mercy, I do not think that there is a Rachel Van Dyken book out there that I would not totally love. My favorites are her in Ruined Series but ,goodness, this book was hilarious and funny and sexy in that understated way that Rachel is so notorious for!
OK, so get ready for this, because this book is a brothers best friend, firefighter, friends to lovers, comedy! That is right, folks! EEEEPP! When I saw the synopsis, I was like, duh, SOLD. Needless to say, The Consequence of Loving Colton ticked all of my boxes!
“I was the little sister he’d never had – and secretly, I’d always wanted to be much more.”
Milo has always loved Colton for more than just her brothers best friend, but every time she makes a play for him, he pushes her away. Colton has always loved Milo too and now that they are all grown up it is becoming harder and harder to ignore his feelings. He doesn’t want to ruin their friendship or his friendship with his brother.
I’d rather be on the receiving end of a black eye from you – than the receiving end of a kiss from another.”
Now Milo is a lady and her and Colton are being thrown together for her brother’s ridiculous and crazy wedding. This is when the absolute insanity and hilarity ensue. Oh my gosh, throw in a few lies, a fake fiance, and ping pong battles to the death and I literally could not help but giggle through the entirety of this book.
“No fouls in Ping-Pong, bitch,”
Rachel has done it again with a fun and funny romance that pulls at your heart strings. If you are looking for a fun read with low angst, but definitely enough drama to keep you interested that will make you laugh your butt off, then this book is definitely for you!
“Because the little boy who had slain all my dragons when I was little – had grown into a man.”
