The Harder You Fall by Gena Showalter Review

5 Smooches!

Synopsis
From New York Times bestselling author Gena Showalter comes another scorching Original Heartbreakers tale featuring an aloof bad boy and the rowdy Southern belle who rocks his world…
Millionaire video-game creator Lincoln West has a dark and tragic past. The sought-after bachelor lives by a rigid schedule and a single rule—one relationship per year, lasting no more than two months. No exceptions. He moved to small town Strawberry Valley, Oklahoma, with his brothers-by-circumstance hoping to escape the worst of his memories—until a brash beauty dredges up long-buried emotions.
A reformed party girl, Jessie Kay Dillon is determined to walk the straight and narrow. But her love-hate sizzle with West is just too irresistible. They can’t be near each other without tearing off their clothes, but the last thing she needs is to be his next two-month dump. Can she be the one exception? Because as any former girl-gone-wild knows: rules are made to be broken.
Review
‘While she would love to give his face and body a tongue bath, she only wanted to give his brain the finger.’
You know why I love Gena Showalter’s books? Because she writes amazing heroines and honestly it is pretty hard for an author to make me love my heroines but Gena always does and especially with Jessie Kay. She might just be my most favorite heroine ever. She is snarky, sassy, fun, and she also has decided finally to be true to herself. To treat herself with the love and respect she deserves and to also demand that of others. I knew I was going to love this story going in and I most definitely did. West and Jessie Kay were a fabulous couple to close out this series.
“Don’t you know the very moment you start flirting with temptation, you’ve lost the entire war?”
“We’re at war?”
“Yes! Your body clearly wants to invade mine.”
There were so many laugh out moments between these two amazing people and I found myself smiling almost non stop through this one but I feel like I need to say something about how amazingly sweet this story is. We know from the past books in this series that West really does have abundance of issues and Jessie Kay is so accepting and loving. So strong and stands so firm in what she needs from him. That is mostly the reason she turned out to be my most favorite heroine in this series. She healed him by just being her. Being there for him and making him better in the process. It really was the sweetest of love stories.
‘She’d broken his shackles and freed him from a prison of his own making. She’d become the light house in the storm, the reason he woke every morning and the reason he smiled every night.’
Don’t get me wrong, though, It was sweet and all but man I feel like Gena turned up the hotness factor a couple of degrees because even before these two manage to get together the sexual tension was through the roof and it was so very very sensual.
“I look at you and get I get stuck on an image of you naked in my bed. I wonder if you’ll taste sweeter than caramel, if you’ll whisper my name or scream it. If you’ll demand I give you a soft and gentle ride or a hard one.”
Whew, folks! Smoking hot! Add that to Gena’s ability to give us all so many many feels and you have the heady combination of a spectacular 5 star read. I absolutely loved this one and I think that Ms. Showalter should really give Daniel a story. I just don’t feel like I can be done with these awesome people and their crazy and hilariously sweet antics.
