Synopsis

Love doesn’t always follow the same schedule…

Alex Walker doesn’t need a woman in his life. In fact, he doesn’t have time for one. Between his career in the FBI and the demands of being good father, romance is an unwanted distraction.

Likewise, Cassidy Mullen is fine on her own. The independent career woman has never had a husband in her plans—forget about kids. But when her friend Alex gets into a bind with his ex over their daughter, Cass finds herself suddenly playing the part of Alex’s stable, child-loving fiancée—and liking it a lot more than she’d care to admit.

Soon Alex and Cass can’t deny the real passion growing between them. But as fake affection turns into real love, Cass and Alex will have to make a choice: say “I Do” to their feelings or give up on happily-ever-after for good…

Review

‘All night he’d felt it – a quiet, steady thrum of desire. It crackled through him, made his blood boil. He couldn’t take it anymore. The need to act on it – to take what he craved – was too overwhelming to be ignored.’

The Wedding Agreement is book three in the Strictly Business series by Elizabeth Hayley and I have loved each one. In this book we have Alex a single dad and FBI agent who is struggling to balance his time allotted in his custody agreement with his demanding career in the FBI. When his ex threatens to take away some of that time he knows something must change. Cassidy is perfectly happy focusing on her career and doesn’t necessarily see herself as a mom in the future but when put in front of her friend (and sometime hook up partner) she lets her mouth get ahead of her brain and suddenly she has made up a fake engagement that might be more trouble than Alex was already in. Now these two friend (who are clearly attracted to each other) are spending more and more time together and starting to find out that not everything is as easy as hooking up but some things are worth it.

‘If she was being honest with herself, it was a bit overwhelming for her. Cass had always been one to like her space, but Alex had infiltrated every aspect of her life. And she liked him there. Isn’t that some crazy shit?’

The duo Elizabeth Hayley is one I can always count on to give me a book that is hilariously funny but with the with amount of drama and angst mixed it. Not a hard read but not just bubblegum either. Alex and Cass were friend first and I think that base made their inevitable relationship feel deeper and just more. This entire cast of characters has been a delight to read and natural wit that Elizabeth Hayley writes with made the book occupy my entire day unable to stop reading. This friends to lovers story hit all this right notes but honestly that was no surprise for me. I have yet to find a book written by these two that I didn’t love reading.
