Synopsis

Keifer Vassago, The Prince of Dragons, has enough on his plate without adding a brunette with a bad attitude to the mix
Fate has a way of screwing all his plans, though, whether he wants them screwed or not. One second he’s fetching his brother from yet another situation that could possibly compromise the Vassago name, and the next that brunette is grabbing his assets.
Blythe isn’t after anyone’s assets, though. She’s a good girl. All she wants is to graduate from nursing school, get a job, and move out of her hell hole apartment. What she does not have time to deal with is a sexy bearded man that accuses her of grabbing his junk.
She tries to forget about the encounter, but fate’s a cruel bitch.
One second she’s a normal college student barely living paycheck to paycheck, and the next she’s setting her panties on fire with powers from an ancient immortal dragon.
To add insult to injury, she’s hearing voices, and none of them are figments of her imagination. Blythe’s life is turned upside down, and Keifer forces her to adapt even though she doesn’t want to. She likes her life just the way it is.
Not to mention she wants nothing to do with that arrogant asshole. She doesn’t care that he rides a dragon. She also could care less about his stupid beard, and his sexy eyes.
Yeah, who was she kidding? She wasn’t convincing anybody.

REVIEW

As a long time Lani Lynn Vale fan, I look forward to her releases like they’re Christmas. I know I’m going to get a great story full of her unique brand of humor with a smoking hot romance between a sassy heroine and an all-alpha male. Ms. Vale just nails it for me every single time.

But see, here’s the thing, I’m not a PNR kind of girl. I’m not big on shifters or vampires or werewolves or anything like that. It pains me to admit this, but I went into I Like Big Dragons and I Cannot Lie a bit warily. But, in I went, and you know what? I should have known better, this is Lani Lynn Vale, the author who has never, ever let me down. And let me tell you, she did not let me down here. Not in the slightest. This book was phenomenal, and coming from someone who isn’t a fan of the genre, that’s really saying something.

This year, Lani has stepped a bit out of her comfort zone writing wise. She’s given her readers a grittier, darker MC series than they’re used to from her. She’s given them a series about firefighters that is a bit more intense and edgier than we’ve seen from her previously. And now, she’s giving her fans dragons. As her fan, I have to say that it’s so exciting to see her stretch her wings and try new things.

This story captivated me from the first chapter. It was unlike anything I’d ever read before. She painted a fantastical version of modern-day Dallas that was simply incredible. She delivered a story that was richly detailed, giving the reader enough to visual these other worldly elements. The things that were popping into my head at her descriptions in this book were so, so cool, and it was unlike anything I’d ever experienced before. It was almost as if this story played like a movie in my mind.

As would be expected from Lani, though, this book is full of her trademark snarky wit—no Vale novel would be complete without it, and trust me, it’s here! The hero was the all-alpha male badass that we’ve come to know and love as uniquely Vale’s, it’s just that this time he’s riding and commanding dragons. The love story here was special, as this couple was fated to be mates, and it was one of the steamiest novels Vale has written to date. The plot was interesting and exciting, and I have not devoured a book like I did this one in a long time. I read it in a single sitting!

Gah! I loved everything about this book!! The writing was on point, the story was fast-paced and had me tapping my Kindle screen to turn pages like a woman possessed. I am chomping at the bit for more! I cannot wait for the next two books in this series, and I’m hoping—yes, me, the girl who doesn’t like PNR—for more fantasy-based, PNR type books like this from Lani in the future. I applaud her for taking this chance, especially in a year when she has already taken a great many of them, and, as far as I’m concerned, this book is a smashing success.

So, if you’re like me, thinking this kind of book—dragons—isn’t your thing, let that go and give it a try. It was not at all what I was expecting, but it was ultimately so much more than I could have even imagined it would be. I am so glad that I didn’t let my preconceived notions of PNR stop me from reading this. It would have been tragic because I would have missed out on what is possibly the best book Lani Lynn Vale has written to date.

Lani Lynn Vale’s I Like Big Dragons and I Cannot Lie gets 5 daring, dreamy, dragon-riding smooches from me!
