Synopsis

I wasn’t planning on falling for Ethan Jamison, hell I wasn’t planning on our paths ever crossing. He’s the most popular guy at school and a complete player. Me; I’m the perpetual good girl, trying to carry out one last request. But when you make a promise, how far do you go to see it through?

~ Blair

It’s a running joke that I’m a terrible liar, if only people knew the truth. My whole life has been spent making excuses and deflecting questions. I was pretty good at it until Blair Thomas entered my world. She saw through the mask that everyone is so willing to accept. She makes me want to tell her all my secrets, but can she promise to keep them?

~ Ethan

Review

What would you do if you have to finish your best friend’s bucket list? Could you do it? Would you do it? Well there lies the dilemma that Blair Thomas is facing, and little does she know that one tutoring session with Ethan Jamison could help her fulfill Emily’s last wishes.

I absolutely loved this book! I have never read anything by Elle Brooks before, but will have to in the future. Not only was the book very well written (good character development, details, dialogue, and story evolution), but as a medical professional it was quite apparent that Ms. Brooks did her research into the jargon and terminology. Emily’s battle with cancer is very well portrayed and believable.

So, Blair has to finish Emily’s bucket list. Blair, whose only true friend was Emily, is not the greatest at making friends. She believes that she is super boring and not cool. She wears logo t-shirts with nerdy sayings, and could never make a move on the most popular kid at school just because her best friend wanted to!

Ethan is failing math and needs help. His teacher sets him up with an “A+” student to assist in his studies. The set-up for Ethan and Blair and the beginning of their friendship is memorable and touching. You will most definitely fall in love with Ethan. One of the best parts of this novel is that it is told from both Ethan and Blair’s point of view.

Both Ethan and Blair hold the power to help each other grow and move on from their troubled pasts.

“We stand in silence for what feels like forever, the air around us thick with sadness, anger, and frustration. Something has changed between use. It feels tangible. There’s a comfort level, a trust that I’ve never experienced with anyone. Ever. “

This book made me laugh, cry, get angry, and overall made me extremely grateful for everything! The romance that develops is just such a wonderful story. 5 smooches all the way!
