Synopsis

As Ryan Boone struggles to come to grips with not being able to keep a promise he made to his dying wife, Larkin’s Letters propels readers into the mind of Ryan as he struggles with frequent visits from her ghost and a series of letters she left behind.

Ryan has worked hard to become one of Hollywood’s most sought-after actors, but no matter how famous he became, he always remained loyal to his childhood best friend, Larkin James. When Larkin is diagnosed with leukemia, Ryan sacrifices his career to be by her side and in turn realizes how much he had always loved her. Throughout Larkin’s sickness, Ryan promised her he would never let her die alone. But we learn that not all of our promises are always within our control.

Review

Larkin’s Letters is a beautiful love story about falling in love and living for today. Larkin James  and Ryan Boone have been childhood best friends. Both lived their lives down different paths and had spouses they loved at the time. When Larkin is diagnosed with leukaemia, the lives of Larkin and Ryan change. Larkin begins to writing letters to Ryan and explain their days together, past and present. Hold on tight to your tissue box because as you read you’ll be grabbing for a tissue!
“Ryan, I love you. I love you so much, I can’t breathe when you’re gone.”

“Then take my breath. I’ll be your breath when you can’t breathe.”
When I read the synopsis, I had a feeling I would shed a few tears. And boy did I ever! The story is written so beautifully that I could feel myself in the letters. Every memory shared, every scenario in their lives, I was there! This story tugged at my heart and just filled me with so much emotion. I can’t choose between Larkin or Ryan as the best character in this book. Just because I can’t pick one without the other. Ryan is caring, sweet, selfless, and so loving. And Larkin is so strong, soulful, and lovely. It’s such a beautiful chemistry they have, it’s as if they are one. Complimenting and comforting one another when cancer sucks.
I recommend this book to any one that loves a beautifully written love story. In a way, if I had to compare it to something, it would be similar to P.S. I Love You. But from a female point of view. I really enjoyed that we had Larkin’s letters but also had Ryan’s memories of the events also. Throughout my review, ‘beautiful’ is used quite a few times. And I want to keep on using it! You will not be disappointed in Larkin’s Letters by Jax Jillian. 5 beautiful, heart gripping, lovely smooches!
