Review
This was a great read! Based on her own life, author Emerson Shaw does an amazing job of telling her story. It was more than a romance; it was filled with intrigue and suspense and keeps the reader engaged.
Sember is a lawyer who walks in on “the-guy-she-thinks-is-the-one” scrumping with another woman, who can only be classified as a skank. Once her friend, Liz, gets her back on her feet and out of the house, Sember has a chance encounter with a hottie at a bar (AKA Jax Alexander). Even though he is completely taken by her, he does nothing that evening and Sember leaves wishing she had given her number or spoke more than 2 words to him.
As the story unfolds, the plot gets thicker and thicker, Jax has a past that prevents him from opening up to Sember completely. Sember’s sister is dealing with her own drama while Sember is being pulled from all directions.
This book was so refreshing from others I have recently read. The characters are real and relatable. To me, Sember and Sarah possess a maturity that can be lacking in today’s HEA/NA genres. I thoroughly enjoyed this debut novel from Emerson Shaw (BTW LOVE her name! so cool!!) I highly recommend this book!
