Synopsis
There are exceptions to every rule…
Jada Stanley is starting over–freeing herself from her past and all her mistakes. Following the rules she’s given herself is easy enough, until she meets HIM. He’s gorgeous, cocky, and everything she needs to avoid, but that’s easier said than done.
Cane Alexander has his own set of rules, a plan to keep his life simple and free of complications. But Jada is a temptation he can’t resist.

Jada has moved in with her sister after a horrible marriage and divorce to her ex-husband and is coming to terms with the fact that she may never get her happily ever after and vows to take her time before she thinks about seeing another man again. However this all changes as soon as cocky and bad boy Cane walks in. At first he’s determined to get the one woman who seems un-affected by this charms into bed, but the more Jada resists the more Cane wants her and not just so he can get her in his bed.
Can this unlikely couple move past their own pasts to see that they belong together? And will Cane’s past catch up to him and hurt Jada despite his vow to protect her?

This was a great romantic suspense story that had all the elements to keep you entertained and hooked the whole way through.
Jada and Cane were such likeable characters that I enjoyed reading their story and was rooting for them the whole way through. Cane was cocky, confident, funny, sexy and protective; I would definitely be happy to let that bad boy into my life. Jada was sweet, caring and although a little insecure, her strength to move forward was something I really admired.
“He was everything I wanted and not a thing I needed.”
The supporting characters such as Kari, Jada’s sister and Max, Cane’s best friend were brilliant. I loved that we got their story as well and we got to see their relationship develop further. I hope we hear more about these two in the future because there is definitely more to their story.
This story had romance and suspense. The relationships growing for both sets of couples was enjoyable to read about. It was light hearted but with some really steamy sex scenes thrown in. Then there was the suspense side which was thrilling to read, kept me guessing the whole way through and gave us a explosive ending which I really enjoyed.
“I love you,” I repeated. “You are my world. My happiness. My exception.”
Overall a great story that has a little bit of everything to keep nearly all readers entertained and I can’t wait to see what more this author has to offer in the future.
