REVIEW:

I love hockey romances, and I was so excited when Kendall Ryan announced the Hot Jocks series. I really enjoyed the first book, Playing for Keeps, a hybrid romance blending the friends-to-lovers and best friend’s little sister tropes. But All the Way, the second standalone in this series, stole my heart—I absolutely loved it. I’ve been a huge fan of Kendall Ryan’s writing for years; her sassy, sexy, easy-reading contemporaries and romcoms are among my favorite things to read. In All the Way, though, instead of the lighthearted sports romance her readers were probably expecting, Ryan gave them a beautiful and moving love story in.

Owen is the starting goalie for the Ice Hawks, and Becca, Owen’s sister’s best friend, is also the team owner’s assistant. Their longtime friendship made the banter flow between them effortlessly, and I couldn’t get enough of their witty back-and-forth exchanges or their easy relationship. Becca has a difficult past, and six years after the event that changed everything for her, she finally feels like she wants to move on. The problem is that she just can’t gather the courage to do it alone, and even if she could, she wouldn’t know where to start. She makes a request of Owen, the only guy she truly feels comfortable with, and he agrees to help her. I loved these two together, and the progression of their relationship from close, dear friends to soul-deep love felt genuine and natural.

Owen had been living the whole a playboy pro athlete life, and he wasn’t necessarily looking for something more meaningful or anything real, but that’s just what he found with Becca. I loved how patient and gentle he was with her. The build-up of their relationship was so sweet, and I was rooting for them the whole way. They did have their challenges to overcome, but their solid foundation of friendship paved the way as they tacked those issues and transitioned into a couple.

All the Way was a fantastic addition to this hockey-themed sports romance series from Kendall Ryan. Full of heart-string-pulling emotion and sizzling chemistry, Owen and Becca’s sweet and tender friends-to-lovers romance was an addictive, unputdownable love story that I devoured in a day. I loved absolutely everything about this story, and Owen and Becca’s passionate, poignant story is not only a new favorite from Kendall, but it’s also a top favorite for the year. All the Way by Kendall Ryan gets 5 smooches from me!
