Synopsis
After living in fear of a hidden past and denying herself a real chance at true love, the beautiful and independent Landrey Steele goes about her everyday life in New York City working as an assistant to a well known fashion designer. Taking on an opportunity to launch a new clothing line in California, Landrey finds herself in a situation for which she has longed, but never imagined could actually happen. When she runs into the one man for whom she would have given up everything, passion reignites between Landrey and the engaging, blue-eyed Zaine Brooks. Their relationship blossoms, but somebody doesn’t like it. A intimidating string of events begins to hit too close to home and threatens the happiness it has taken her so long to find. Review
This book follows the story of Landrey and Zaine. It starts with kind of a back story of them and it seemed like insta love. He wanted her to move with him to California, but she decides that because of her past demons and insecurities she can’t go and leaves him waiting at the airport for her. We then skip 8 years later when their paths cross again.
The meeting between these 2 starts off a little awkward and the tension from what happened all these years ago is completely still there. They talk through things and the relationship between them seems to progress. A trip away soon turns things sour between them, and we move forward 3 weeks with both Landrey and Zaine being miserable. After talking things through, they decide that what they have is worth fighting for.
Twists and turns happen in this book, lies are told, ex’s re appear and cause drama. The twists added a little something extra to this story.
The reason that I gave 3 and a half stars, is because I personally felt that we didn’t really get to know the characters, it also felt a little rushed and things seemed to be brushed over.
