4 Smooches!
Synopsis
Grayson Sutton loves teaching…and she’s good at it. She’s one of those teachers who throws every ounce of heart and passion into working with kids—and her students love her for it.
When Grayson hears about a position at a new charter school opening in Chicago, she knows she has to apply for her dream job—even though it’s over one thousand miles away from the small Georgia town she calls home with her longtime boyfriend Reid. After all, Reid has plans for Grayson’s future…and they don’t include teaching, especially not in Chicago.
When her offer letter arrives on a day with special significance for the couple, Grayson decides to compromise and move to Chicago with the understanding that it’s only temporary. But once there, she meets Emmett, the handsome owner of the school, and the chemistry between them complicates everything.
As Grayson makes a new life for herself in Chicago, she finds herself in the middle of a tug of war between her heart and home. Reid isn’t going to let go of Grayson without a fight…but neither will Emmett.
Review
Grayson has always loved teaching children. It’s not just a job, it’s a passion and she has been given the opportunity of a lifetime to go to Chicago and teach at an amazing school. Only problem is, her fiancé Reid is fiercely protective and not very supporting. But Grayson won’t let that stop her. When she gets there though, it’s not just her job that changes. She meets a sexy, kind and caring man and when Reid’s behaviour becomes not just possessive but scary, things spiral out of control for Gray and matters of the heart and her life result in her being involved in dangerous game.
“Something rooted deep within her compelled her to take this risk. A risk she normally wouldn’t have taken. She loved Reid. But she also had an innate passion to help and teach children. It fulfilled her.”
This was a thrilling, emotion-filled ride that kept me hooked. There was passion, drama, love, heartache and much more. A read I thoroughly enjoyed.
“He had tried to remain in control. After all, Emmett Alden was always in control. Was. That was the operative word, he told himself. He had a feeling if he didn’t keep his distance, Grayson Sutton might be his undoing, and that was something he didn’t want to risk. She was not his.”
Both Grayson and Emmett were characters you could love. Grayson’s love and passion for her job was admirable and you felt you could look up to her. She was also funny and caring to her family and friends and is always trying to do the right thing for everyone else. Emmett was protective but kind, faithful, loyal and strong and was going to protect Grayson no matter what.
“She was now Emmett’s. From this moment on, he knew it. He felt it. Reid had his chance, and he’d blown it. Emmett would make damn sure that everything he did from here on out was in an effort to keep her.”
The plot was filled with drama. A lot more than I actually expected. There are definitely some scenes that are hard to read but the author handles them superbly and they keep you the right amount of angry/sad but hopeful. There are some beautiful moments between Gray and Emmett and also Gray and Avery, the adorable child that’s in one of Gray’s classes. I also loved Olivia and David as supporting characters and how protective they both became of Gray straight away.
“She wanted to tell him that she was less afraid of Reid and more afraid of the damage Emmett could do to her. To her heart, anyway. But the words stuck in her throat. She didn’t want to sound like her old, insecure self.”
Overall an exciting, sweet, and captivating love story that is a perfect read for those who want a romance story with a little more edge.
