5 SMOOCHES!

SYNOPSIS:

My new neighbor is a firefighter—and a scorching hot single dad—but I swear I didn’t set off that smoke alarm on purpose.

(And I was beyond mortified when he rushed in and saw me naked.)

Nothing happened, of course—because I, Winnie MacAllister, romance junkie and owner of a constantly broken heart, have sworn off men for one solid year.

Even protective men with chiseled jaws, bulging biceps, and deep brown eyes that make my breath come faster. Even former SEALs with broad chests and strong hands that make my skin sizzle. Even gorgeous, grumpy guys who have their hands full raising two adorable little girls and claim they don’t believe in love.

Until Dex kisses me one night, and I drop all my defenses.

(Also my underwear.)

He says he’s not gentle, and he’s right. He says I should take the dream job I’m offered in another state, and he’s right. He says he’s too old for me and could never be the man I deserve.

He’s wrong.

Dex and I might be twelve years apart, but the fire between us is the kind that will never burn out.

How can I convince him to give happily-ever-after with me a chance?

REVIEW:

I love Melanie Harlow’s sweet and sexy storytelling, and her Cloverleigh Farms series stole my heart. Like a lot of her readers, I’d been hoping for a second generation series with the children of those heroes and heroines. I’ve been looking forward to this book since she announced it, and I was not disappointed.

Ignite, the first second generation book in the Cloverleigh Farms series, kicks off with the love story of Winnie, the daughter of Mack, the hero who launched the series, and Dex, her neighbor. Dex is a single dad, a firefighter and is 12 years older than Winnie. He’s grumpy, broody and jaded. He’s admittedly attracted to Winnie, but he’s also convinced she’s too young for him and isn’t looking for a relationship. Dex was focused on being the best dad to his two adorable young daughters following his divorce with their mother. Winnie is a romantic at heart and she’s in love with love. But on the heels of her latest heartbreak, she’s on a love break when she meets her hot, handsome and heavily muscled new neighbor. Dex’s daughters take an instant liking to Winnie, and they’re constantly roping her into things. Then there’s the chemistry sparking between them that quickly ignites a blaze that incinerates Dex’s control and Winnie’s resolve.

I loved everything about this story. I loved Dex, I loved Winnie, I loved the two of them together, and his daughters were adorable little show-stealers. A little bit bittersweet, a whole lot swoony, Dex and Winnie’s love story was one that I devoured in an afternoon. I couldn’t get enough of their story, these characters, and I’m already looking forward to the next book. Five smooches from me for Ignite by Melanie Harlow!
