5 SMOOCHES!

SYNOPSIS:

Molly Alcott didn’t expect to open her mailbox one summer morning and find an old letter stuffed between bills and a supermarket flyer. Penned in familiar handwriting, dated over fifteen years ago, the letter was written to Molly after her first date with the man she’ll never forget.

Week after week, new letters appear. Each marks an event in the history of their epic love affair. Each heals a wound. Each holds the confession of the man who still owns Molly’s heart.

The letters are full of promise, hope and love, but truth be told, Molly wishes she could unread them all.

Because the man who wrote these letters is not the one sending them.

REVIEW:

Devney Perry has shot up the list of my favorite authors with her deeply emotional writing, her interesting and unique characters and her consuming love stories. She crafts such richly developed stories, vividly describing all the little details that truly bring the setting, the story and the characters to life for her readers. She slowly peels the layers back on her characters in a way that gives the reader the chance to really get to know them. Weaving in a suspenseful thread to her storytelling, she brings it all together with intriguing, engrossing two-pronged plots where the suspense arc is just as compelling as the romantic arc. She pulls me into her worlds right away, and I hang on every word. Intense emotion paired with a realistic plot and relatable characters make hers the kinds of stories that not only capture my attention immediately but also hold it the whole way through.

An achingly emotional second-chance romance, Letters to Molly was about two lost souls, still deeply in love, wondering where their marriage went wrong, how they got to this place and wishing to be anywhere but there. Perry penned a love story that was heartbreakingly brutal at times, and magically beautiful at others, and I was fully invested in Molly and Finn’s story from the first page. While they have managed to get to a place of amicable co-parenting, they’re often choking on their emotions, pushing them down, wishing things were different. It’s six years after the demise of their marriage when Finn’s private letters to Molly begin to arrive. I don’t want to go into any more detail about them or this part of the story than I already have, it’s best the reader is as surprised by these letters and their content as Molly was, but I’ll just say that Perry delivered a storyline around these letters that was gut-wrenchingly intense, and my heart raced, ached, broke and healed within the pages of this incredible love story.

A complex, layered and deeply moving love story, Letters to Molly was bursting with emotion and punctuated with raw pain, harsh realities and hard-earned forgiveness. While there was definitely some heartache to be endured before getting to the happily ever after, Molly and Finn’s story was a heart-tugging journey about the complexities of marriage, overcoming past mistakes and learning from them. This story completely consumed my time and attention the entire time I was reading it, and I was utterly lost in the feels that Perry evoked from me. I yearned, I ached, and I healed for these characters, and this stunningly beautiful love story will stay with me for a long time to come. Five smooches from me for Letters to Molly by Devney Perry!
