REVIEW
Guys, Midnight Soul is the fifth and last book in the Fantasyland Series and I am just so torn up about it. Because I seriously loved this series. Some of my most favorite Kristen Ashley books are in this series. She is one of the very few authors that could pretty much write any kind of romance and I could read it. And I have. Go ahead Ms. Ashley, throw at me some ghost love stories, some rock chicks not listening to have their hot alpha men at all, or how about a savage that hunts his wife down and beds her against her will in a mystical land that doesn’t exist in the real world. Yep, I’ve read it all and loved them all. So while I was happy to get this book, I am sad because this story is over. These people, I will have to revisit by reading the previous books over and over. I am a little bummed, but excited also because this book was amazing and once again this author surprised me because Franka. Just Franka! I didn’t want to love her, but I did. If anyone wants a lesson on how to make a reader love a villain and root for her then y’all need to call up Kristen Ashley because she did an amazing job!
“Something that was beautiful. Something that means you’re a fighter. A warrior. Victorious. And you wear their mark as your medal of valor.”
Franka’s story was so incredibly sad and she was fierce and loyal in the face of all of that. I loved her character and she just might be one of my most favorite heroines ever. She earned my respect over and over again in this book.
‘But it was my adventure, my life. I was going to cease fearing it. I was going to embrace it. Every second.’
And Noc! He was amazing and alpha in that special way that we have come to expect. Only this author could make me swoon at ‘Sugarlips’. Noc is so there for Franka and God, he built her up so beautifully when she was so incredibly low. I loved him for it. His unwavering certainty that she was the person he knew she was. It really was special.
“You say my light shines on your soul, do you think for one second you’d be in my bed right now if your light didn’t warm mine?”
Between this budding and beautiful new relationship and all of the side characters and other stories that were going on, I was glued to the book. I didn’t want to put it down. I wanted to make sure all of my peeps got their Happily-Ever-Afters, but there was also more that kept me from putting this one down. It was a bit different because Franka and Noc come back to our wold. And I adored every second of Franka and her sweet and hilarious maid, Jo getting a taste of what happens here. It was funny and sweet and at moments inspiring.
“My word, Frank, have we arrived in the lap of the gods?”
“No, babe. It’s just the Nordstrom shoe department.’
Franka and Josette made me want to go out and explore and see something new. I loved them together experiencing our world.
So, I guess you can tell that I really REALLY loved this book. And why wouldn’t I? It had everything. Comedy, a new adventure, and the kind of steadfast love that romance readers will salivate for. 5 Stars!
“You don’t have a midnight soul, Frannie. Your soul is so bright, I look too close, I’d be blinded.”
