Synopsis

Lake Jones is a cover girl for cutting-edge prosthetic legs, a binge-watcher of Netflix, known to spy on her neighbor through her door’s peephole, and fond of laser games with her hairless cat. She’s also a bit sexually-frustrated.

Until …

God bestows a breath of mercy upon her in the form of Minnesota’s NFL starting quarterback. But this gift is no stranger. Lake met Cage Monaghan three years earlier.

It was one day.
One moment.
One kiss that resurrected her dreams of finding love.

His dimpled smile distracts from his imperfections, which include: a love for country music, fishing, and a feline-hating girlfriend.

When life finally gives them their chance, it’s a humorous and heart-wrenching journey to find their place in the world.

“We would be Cage and Lake. We would be unpredictable. We would be reckless. We would give normality the middle finger.”

***This book is a standalone. However, it is HIGHLY recommended that any readers who have not, but may consider, reading the Jack & Jill Series, do so before reading this book. It contains spoilers to Jack & Jill.

REVIEW

This was book so adorably sweet.  So squishy and romantic.  And I loved it so much.  I think that after the craziness that was the Jack & Jill Series, we needed this book for Lake and Cage.  The Jack & Jill books were packed full with action, angst, murders galore, drama, love triangles.  It was a lot and it was amazing but this book, it’s like the ice cold drink of water after being in the hot sun all day.  It’s needed.

“It’s sex.  I love how it tastes on you.”

Now, I know this is totally a standalone and all but if I were you, I would read the Jack & Jill Series before reading this.  You meet Lake and Cage in those books.  You learn them.  You know there pasts, where they came from and why they are the way they are in the now.  Personally, I think it’s important.  There were so many brilliant things about this book, but I’ll just name a few.  Like the characters, ALL OF THEM.  I was even completely sold on every side character.  They were all so interesting and had fabulous stories of their own.  Especially Kong, I need this hot black man’s book like yesterday!  But Cage, man.  He made his way right to the top of my swoony book boyfriends list.  He was romantically over the top, sweet, thoughtful, kind.  The list is endless.  He was freaking perfection!

“You’re my favorite thing.”

And Lake.  You are everything I want to grow up and be.  She was fearless.  Brave.  And hilarious.  But mostly, she was a heroine that admired and loved, which is kind of rare in romance novels.  I don’t always love my main girl, but God, she stole the show.  She was awesome and inspiring.

“Do you feel it?”

“Feel what?”

“My heart beating in your hands.

Ya’ll words can’t express how much I loved this story.  The writing was spot on.  The story was a true romance in every sense of the word.  The story was authentic, real, and unique.  Just go get it.  Do not pass go.  Do not collect $200.  Just read this book.  Now.

“Let’s never be in love.  Let’s fall every day without ever touching the ground.”
