Synopsis

Paris fashions,
Chicago nightlife,
Secrets and lies…
Welcome to the North Side.

Marcus Merritt doesn’t chase women. He doesn’t have to. But when the spirited and sexy blonde who left him wanting more shows up in his office looking for work, little things like the rules seem ready to be rewritten.

Amy Knight is smart, ambitious, and back home in Chicago to care for her mother. A courtesy meeting with one of the top lawyers in the city should be a boost to her career…

Until the polished green-eyed player turns out to be the same irresistible “random” she hooked up with at a friend’s wedding in Wilmington. Bonus: He’s the brother of her older brother’s new wife. What the hell?!

Who’s chasing whom? It all depends on the day. Or the night.

Review

Ah this was a fun packed sweet and sexy story and I really enjoyed it.
Amy is independent, to the point of being stubborn, and she’s known for running.

Marcus is a hard working lawyer, alpha, but does not chase anyone.

Is she worth the chase?
Is he worth the stay?
“No settling. Only flying.”
I instantly loved Marcus. Literally straight away he was funny and charming. He may come across as a bit of an ass but it’s in that way you’ll love of him more because if it. The more you get to know his character the more you fall in love with him. He is compassionate and helps people even when it affects him. He has a big heart that just adds to his character. He is alpha, he knows what he wants but he does it in that sweet way that you cant help but completely swoon.
“You’re not going anywhere. You’re not running. You’re staying right here with me.”
Amy wasn’t as easy to connect with at first, she was a little difficult in the beginning. She had a rock solid wall around her heart. She pushed away the more Marcus tried to pull her closer but as the story went on and you get her story, the more you dig deeper, you gradually love her. She is really witty and brave. She has just been burned in the past by someone who she should’ve been able to look up to. I loved how she handled herself in some of the situations she was up against.
“Hell, yes, it scared me. Yet, it was a different kind of fear. It wasn’t a sense of pushing away like matching ends of a magnet. It was the fear of falling, of losing control.”
I haven’t actually read the rest in the series so I’m glad this was a standalone and I didn’t feel like I was missing on much. I will definitely be reading the other books because I did like the other characters. There was a couple of stories within this story, it wasn’t just one dimensional. There were characters you will love, ones you will love to get to know more and characters that you will revel in, when they are put back in their place and getting what they deserve! I enjoyed Tia’s style of writing, my favourite kind of writing is when an author directly connects a character and reader through their writing and that’s exactly what Tia Louise done here!
