Reese King: Olympic medalist, underwear model, Greek god.
His body is chiseled from rock, sculpted by the weight room, and refined by water.
On a daily basis his skin is completely bare for everyone to see, tan and defined, only covered up by a minuscule piece of spandex. There is no denying his sex appeal.
I hate to admit it, but I’m head over heels infatuated with him.
There is one HUGE problem though. His achingly gorgeous abs, inked up arm, and cocky swagger belong to my boss, the high-profile, reality star bitch from hell and certified heinous human being, Bellini Chambers.
What I think is going to be an easy job assisting a glorified wench turns into a cluster f*ck of epic proportions.

About the Author:

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.
Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.
Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!

REVIEW:
“There is always a pivotal turn in everyone’s life that tilts the axis of their world, sending them in a different direction.” ~ Paisley
Paisley Maccaro left the reservation she grew up on, much to her parents’ dismay, to chase her dream of working in the film industry. With a degree in film production under her belt, she had her dream within her grasp… until ‘The Incident’ that got her fired and blacklisted. Now all of her hard work is forgotten, and she’s starting over from scratch. Having sold her soul to the devil herself, Paisley takes the only job she can get as the personal assistant to reality TV star, Bellini Chambers, and her devastatingly handsome (but totally fake) boyfriend, Olympic swimmer, Reese King.
“Any other person would wilt under the pressure of the human race observing them as an outsider, but not me. I thrive off it. I want the attention; I crave the attention. I DESERVE the attention.” ~ Bellini
Bellini Chambers is Satan reincarnated. An entitled, narcissistic diva, she is also one of Paisley’s bosses. Spoiled, vicious, disrespectful and just an all-around awful person who has deluded herself into believing that she is God’s gift to the world, Bellini is convinced that everyone wants to be her and that she is actually generous humanitarian. Regardless of the less than impressive means with which her family came into their wealth, she treats everyone around her as if they are beneath her. Only her father, and her dog, Pope Francis, who she believes is some sort of disciple of God and a religious icon of the ages, are shown any sort of kindness. She is the epitome of every single one of those awful millennial-age stereotypes, but her ridiculous, over-the-top antics draw in the viewers, if only to gawk at her obnoxious behavior.
“It’s never easy saying goodbye, but to say goodbye to your sport, the one thing that’s made you eat, sleep, and breathe ever since you can remember, it’s like a piece of your soul dying.” ~ Reese
Devastatingly handsome, Reese King is American swimming royalty. A three-time Olympic silver medalist, he’s in the last lap of a successful swimming career. A career laden with records, championships and accomplishments but lacking that one crowning achievement: a gold medal. Going into his final Olympics, he knows that this is his last shot. Desperate to shed ‘The Silver Stroke’ nickname the media’s dubbed him with, he does not want to end his career being known as a choke artist. His publicist, with her eye on his post-swimming future, has talked him into doing this reality show—complete with this sham of a relationship with Bellini—to increase his visibility and marketability. He cannot stand Bellini, and he hates everything about this show. Well, until he meets his new assistant, Paisley.
“What’s life if it’s not a roller coaster?” I ask. “A pleasant merry-go-round with no drama.” ~ Reese
Reese and Paisley’s attraction is immediate and very mutual. They both know they can’t go there—too much is riding on it for both of them. But neither is able to stop from being swept away in the waves of feelings crashing over them, and they are both drowning in their attraction to each other. Unable to help themselves, they begin seeing each other in secret. It’s a disaster of epic proportions in the making, and they know it.
“Finding your soulmate is never easy, Paisley. The luckiest people have to work at it, because once you find that true match, you will be that much more grateful for the journey you took to find them.” ~ Reese
This book was positively hilarious!! It’s told in three points of view – Reese’s, Paisley’s and Bellini’s – and that was one of the things I loved most about it. Bellini was so outrageous, but the things that came out of her mouth, the thoughts that ran through her head were so crazy, she truly was that train-wreck that you just couldn’t look away from. No joke, I probably came up with a hundred or so hashtagable comments, or Bellinisms as Quinn refers to them. I was dying to to tweet them out, but not wanting to spoil the awesomeness, I restrained myself. It wasn’t easy.
“There are two types of girls in this world. Girls like me, who have men draped across their feet, wishing and hoping for one sniff from their very sought after lady-garden. And then there are girls like you. … Girls who flap their dilapidated garden gate open for any kind of attention…” ~ Bellini
I’ve read a few of Meghan Quinn’s books now, and I am seriously a fan. This woman’s sense of humor is pure romcom gold! This is the good stuff, folks. The beverage-shooting-from-your-nose, tears-streaming-down-your-face, foot-stomping, doubled-over-holding-your-sides kind of humor. But Quinn is more than just a comedic genius, she also gives great romance—and smoking hot sexiness—here. Reese was a totally swoon-worthy hero, and I adored him in his all-alpha-male glory. Paisley was as smart and sassy as they come and totally not bowled over by Reese’s fame. The two of them together were absolute romcom perfection. They smoldered, they smoked, and they sizzled in pursuit of this sweet romance. Well written, smartly hilarious and wildly sexy, this steamy romance nearly sent me to the pool to cool off a few times, not to mention that all that taco talk left me weirdly craving Mexican food…
Gah! I loved this book! I am praying to Pope Francis at every available altar that the very talented Ms. Quinn will give us Hollis and Bodi’s stories and that she’ll do it soon! Without any hesitation, Meghan Quinn and her swimmingly sensational Stroked get five whimpering, witty and wet smooches from me!

Man of Honor – Excerpt
“The bottom line – and once again, no pun intended – is I think you might have overstayed your welcome in my home, Ezekiel. Much like the smell of fish, unwanted guests begin to stink after the third day and you’ve been smelling something fierce for a while now,” she informed him primly, clasping her hands in front of her waist as she stared innocently at him.
“Now, Honor,” Zeke chided, amused. “What would your mother say right now about that most unwelcoming attitude you have?”
“Holy crap. He brought Momma into it,” Faith whispered violently to Harmony.
“The fool’s clearly lost his mind,” Harmony returned uneasily.
“Moron,” Aunt Orla cackled. “Harriet, God rest her soul, woulda cut your ding-a-ling off at the root for streakin’ in her kitchen.”
“True though that may be, Auntie, I think my mother would be impressed that I’ve managed to maintain my sanity for this long. She raised me to be a good hostess, and heaven knows, I’ve tried. But you, Ezekiel, could make a preacher cuss on Sunday. You’ve been nothing but a demanding, domineering pain in my derriere since you took my house hostage. I swear, you shadow me when I so much as wander toward the bathroom. And when it’s not you, it’s one of your trained monkeys watching me like some kind of science experiment. I’ve had enough! I told you last night that I intended to come back to work and find some kind of normalcy again. You chose to believe I’d cede to your will. Your error in judgment doesn’t translate into being either my fault or my problem.”
“No, but willfully draining the air from my tires most certainly is,” Zeke roared. “What if I’d gotten a call out?”
“The SUV Abel loaned me – but you STILL won’t allow me to drive – is parked in the garage.” Seeing the look of shock on his face, Honor smiled. “Forgot about that, didn’t you?”
“Don’t get cocky, Kitten. I’m in no mood. You know what this argument is really over just like I do. You shouldn’t BE here!”
“This is EXACTLY where I need to be,” she growled back, matching his tone as the two combatants faced each other. “It’s MY business, Zeke. That back there,” she continued, waving a hand toward the back of the restaurant, “is MY kitchen where I do MY work. Seriously, if somebody said, ‘Don’t go be a Sheriff today, it’s too dangerous,’ you’d tell them that it’s your job and to check themselves into the nearest mental hospital. Why do you think I’d feel any less dedicated to my work?”
“At the moment, nobody is gunnin’ for me,” Zeke snapped, rapidly losing his patience with the infuriating woman standing across from him.
“I wouldn’t bet on THAT,” Honor returned purposefully, looking the lawman up and down.
“Is that a threat you’re making to a sworn officer of the law, Miss McKinnon? Because it sure sounded like one.”
Smiling that gentle sweet smile of hers that never failed to simultaneously melt his heart and harden his dick, Honor shook her head. “Of course not, Sheriff. Don’t be silly. A threat implies that I might not follow through on things. This is a promise from me to you, Zeke. So, listen up,” she announced, going from the sugar-wouldn’t-melt-in-her-mouth tone he adored to the I-will-rip-off-your-dick-and-shove-it-where-the-sun-don’t-shine voice that never failed to get his blood pumping.
“I’m all ears, darlin’,” he replied easily, propping one hand against the counter as he leaned over it toward her. “I do love it when you make me promises.” Honor made a noise of disgust as she shot him a look that should have frozen his blood to ice, but somehow just managed to make him hotter for her.
“Get out of my café, Sheriff, and take your Redneck Gestapo with you! And don’t forget Deputy Hightower who’s skulking back there in the corner tryin’ his best to be invisible,” she ordered, pointing at where his uncomfortable subordinate was trying to slump in a back booth. It was kinda hard to do when a guy was over six feet tall.
“Or what?” Zeke dared her with an insolent grin.
“Otherwise, I’m gonna be forced to bring out the pressure washer and start hosing down all the unwanted pests around this place, and I promise I’ll start with you, Sheriff Monroe.”
He could tell by the set of her jaw that she was serious. His little Kitten had become a Tigress at some point this morning. And damn, if that didn’t turn him on, too.

Something So Right by Natasha Madison Excerpt Reveal
BLURB
Coming August 1, 2016
The moment everything changed didn’t happen in that cliché rockets-red-glare kind of way, it happened in the form of a waking nightmare. I caught my husband, my high-school sweetheart, the father of my children, balls deep in a sordid affair.
That was when I gave up on men and love.
I didn’t count on the NHL’s golden boy, the beautiful, arrogant Cooper Stone turning my life and my hockey rink upside down.
My kids are why I wake up in the morning.
Hockey is what Cooper breathes for.
We’re from different worlds and places in our lives but when our hearts collided something so wrong and different turned into something so right.
Excerpt
We pull up to the house way after everyone’s bedtime. Allison was asleep
even before we pulled out of Meghan’s driveway. It’s been a long time I’ve felt
this content.
I look over at Cooper, who looks far away in his thoughts.
He’s been like that all evening.
Once we get home, he quickly takes Allison out of her seat. Luckily she
changed into her pyjamas before we left Meghan’s.
“I got her, babe, get the bags.”
Matthew is continuing his ‘celebrating’ by staying over at his friend’s
house. Usually I would say no, but like Cooper said, it’s like he just won the
cup.
“Okay.”
By the time I get inside and sort through all the wet things, I sense
him before I feel him wrap his hands around my waist.
“Babe, come outside with me.” Something in his voice makes my heart
pound. My hands are getting clammy just walking outside with him.
We get to the hammock, and he sits down on it, making it like a swing.
His feet are on the ground in front, and the back of the hammock against his
back halfway. “Sit on me,” he demands.
“I can’t. I’m going to throw you over.” I stand there in front of him.
He rubs his hands up and down the back of my legs, kissing my stomach. I’m
still wearing my sundress from this afternoon.
“I won’t make you fall, I promise.”
I comb my fingers through his hair, looking down into his blue eyes.
They’re like the key to his soul, always bright. Tonight they look clouded,
like a storm is brewing.
“Okay,” I whisper and straddle his lap. I’m surprised we don’t topple
over, but Cooper has his feet planted on the floor, so we aren’t going
anywhere.
“Baby.” I look at him. “You’re scaring me.” I’m sure he can hear my
heart beating in my chest.
“I’ve never felt like this.” He whispers, “I’ve had women, many women,
but none were like you.” He kisses my chest right above my breast.
“Okay.” I twirl his hair through my fingers.
“When I looked over at you today and saw you sitting with James, my
breath caught in my throat.”
“Honey.” I pull his hair so he looks up at me. “James and I, we are the
past. Way, way in the past.”
“You made a life with him, you made a home with him, you have kids with
him.” His voice trembles.
“I had all that, I made a home with him. I had kids with him. He threw
that away. He tossed it aside.” I’m trying to calm my nerves. I’m scared that this
is it. This will be the last time that I hold him. “Cooper.” He looks up at me,
and I snap, my heart snaps. “No, you don’t get to decide this, you don’t get to
toss me aside because you think you know what I want or need.” My heart is
literally hurting. It’s aching. I blink away the tears that are forming in my
eyes, continuing what I have to say. “If you don’t want me, just say it, but
don’t you dare try to cop out of this giving yourself a clear conscience.” I
drop my hands to my sides, looking into his eyes. I lean forward, kissing his
eyes. “I’ve had many years with a man who not only looked through me, he passed
by me, not stopping to look at me. But you, you see me.”—I kiss his cheeks—“I’ve had many years not smiling. Now I smile so much my cheeks hurt. I
smile for no reason at all. I smile at you and because of you”—I kiss his lips—“I’ve had many years of little kisses, but none of them made my heart
flutter like yours, none of them left me breathless because of them, none of
them I longed for.” I can’t stop the one tear that has rolled down my face. “I
want you, I want this”—I point from him to me with my hand—“I want this more than I care to admit”—I put my forehead on his, our eyes watching
each other—“I want you to want me,” I whisper the last part, my heart hoping that
he does pick me, that he picks us.
“I want you,” he says softly. “I want all of you. I want your mornings.
I want your afternoons. I want your nights. I want your tomorrows, baby. I want
it all. I was so scared you would want what you had, and not want what we
have.”
I don’t say anything anymore. I just lean in, kissing his bottom lip,
hoping he opens up for me, and he does. He opens so our tongues touch each
other, and I know I’m home.
I want to get under his skin and it still wouldn’t be close enough. I
fumble with his shirt, trying to rip it off his body. When my hands touch his
chest, I make little traces of imaginary infinity signs all down his chest,
hoping he feels it. He pulls down the tube part of my dress, bringing my bikini
top with it. My nipples peak with the cold air on them. Cooper’s
thumbs circle around my nipples, then he places his finger in the middle of my
chest, making an infinity sign, all while looking into my eyes.
My need for him is all-consuming. He
squeezes my breast, rubbing down to my ass. When both his hands cup my ass, he
just palms it, pushing me more to him.
“Honey.” I’m stopped by his tongue
invading my mouth. I’m invaded by his scent. His hand makes its way under my
dress, moving my bikini bottoms to the side.
He enters me easily with two fingers,
making me gasp. “Always ready for me, always.” With my head tossed back, he
kisses down my neck with his tongue all the way to my nipple.
He takes it into his mouth, sucking
deeply, sending shock waves all down to my core. “Honey, please.” I look down
at him. “Be with me.”
He withdraws his fingers from me, then opens
his shorts, freeing himself.
“Be with me, baby.” I lift myself till I’m
positioned over him where I slowly slide all the way down, one inch at a time.
I feel him stretching me open while he invades me.
I look into his eyes, hoping he sees
what I feel. I move up and down again, all the while looking at him. He’s
beautiful. He’s everything I’ve ever dreamed of, and he’s mine.
He picks me up by my hips, bringing me to
the top of his dick before bringing me down again.
“Honey.”
He lifts his feet off the ground, making
us swing back and forth, putting him deeper into me. It’s like we are on a
swing, so I push back, making him go back, him pushing forward, both of us
wanting to go deeper and deeper. I’m close, so close. I know he is too because
I feel fuller.
“Honey, I want you with me.”
“Babe, I’m there.” He grabs both my
shoulders, thrusting down on him where I come apart. I squeeze him, taking him
with me. He is groaning out his release, all the while we look into each other’s
eyes. His blue eyes are clearer than before, more at peace, more calm. He
kisses me deeply while still in me, the aftershocks of my orgasm still
squeezing him.
“Stay with me tonight?” I ask him.
“What about Allison?” he says, knowing
that I never want to cross that line.
“It’s okay. We can set an alarm, wake up
together. Say yes, please.”
“As long as I’m with you, it’s yes, it’s
always yes.”

Review
“Once a SEAL, always a SEAL,”
Sexy, Fun, Fast and Exciting. Protection Crisis had everything I look for in a steamy quick read. Part of Susan Stoker’s Kindle World, Protection Crisis has a crossover character from Susan’s series. I personally haven’t read her books yet but I am intrigued to try them out nor. I have, however, read many stories by Rochelle Paige and I really enjoy her style and stories and this novella was just as enjoyable as the others by her I have read. I do believe that Rochelle’s suspenseful stories with hot alpha men are truly where she shines.
“There will be no going back from this for you and me. If you give yourself to me, I’m taking you. You’ll be mine, and I won’t be letting you go.”
Without going deep into the plot, since it is short and I don’t want to give anything away, Kael is a former Navy Seal who is asked to help watch over Chloe, a movie star hiding out from a stalker. Kael has always been pulled toward her when he saw her in magazines but just thought that it was because she was famous and beautiful. But once these two get together it is apparent quickly that there is a stronger force at bay, making them each want and need the other. Intense chemistry mixed with a fast paced, action packed plot make this quick read exciting. I really enjoyed this story and hope to see more in this series soon.

The first time I met Chase Parker, I didn’t exactly make a good impression.
I was hiding in the bathroom hallway of a restaurant, leaving a message for my best friend to save me from my awful date.
He overheard and told me I was a bitch, then proceeded to offer me some dating advice.
So I told him to mind his own damn business—his own tall, gorgeous, full-of-himself damn business—and went back to my miserable date.
When he walked by my table, he smirked, and I watched his arrogant, sexy ass walk back to his date.
I couldn’t help but sneak hidden glances at the condescending jerk on the other side of the room. Of course, he caught me on more than one occasion, and winked.
When the gorgeous stranger and his equally hot date suddenly appeared at our table, I thought he was going to rat me out.
But instead, he pretended we knew each other and joined us—telling elaborate, embarrassing stories about our fake childhood.
My date suddenly went from boring to bizarrely exciting.
When it was over and we parted ways, I thought about him more than I would ever admit, even though I knew I’d never see him again.
I mean, what were the chances I’d run into him again in a city with eight million people?
Then again…
What were the chances a month later he’d wind up being my new sexy boss?

EXCERPT
“Sorry, I wasn’t looking where—”
I froze.
The sight of Chase standing there was almost enough to knock me over. I’d secretly hoped to see him, yet never thought I actually would. What are the chances? I did a double take, sure I was seeing things. But it was him all right, in the flesh. And what flesh it is. Standing there shirtless and wet—wearing nothing but a pair of low-slung swim trunks—he had me stuttering. Literally.
“Ch…Ch…Ch—” I couldn’t get the word out.
Of course, Chase didn’t miss a beat. He smirked and leaned in. “You do a cute train impression, Buttercup.”
He remembers me.
I shook my head, attempting to snap myself out of it. But it was no use. He was so tall, and I was so short, I had no choice but to stare at his body. Water trickled down his abs. I was mesmerized watching it speed up and slow down as it crossed the rippled lines of his six-pack. Damn.
I cleared my throat and finally spoke. “Chase.”
I was pretty freaking proud of myself for getting that much out. He had a towel slung around his neck and lifted it to dry off his dripping hair, revealing even more flesh. His pectoral muscles were carved and perfect. And—oh, my God…is that… Holy shit. It is. His nipples were cold and erect, and one of them was….was…pierced.

Bossman by Vi Keeland Review
4.5 Smooches
Synopsis
Review
“Sometimes you don’t know what you’re missing until you find it.”
Vi Keeland’s Bossman is the written romantic comedy real deal. This book, folks, is the stuff that great romcoms are made of! Chock full of fabulously witty banter with a persistent hero who was a bit broken and a gun-shy heroine who’s got her own issues, this was an engaging, emotional and erotic story of true love totally taking two people by surprise.
“There’s a fine line between genius and unhinged.”
Ok, so technically this relationship started out on a lie. But in all fairness, it was an unusual and awkward situation that turned completely ridiculous and raucously hilarious by the outrageousness spewing from the hero’s mouth. I was as entranced by Chase’s rambling and detailed stories of their fictional history as Reese was. Their first meeting was absolutely one of the best ‘meet-cutes’ I’ve ever read.
“If our kisses were each a story, this was the one where the hero got the girl, and they rode off into the sunset.”
Thinking she’d never see him again, imagine Reese’s surprise when lightning strikes and she runs into him again. Of course, another whopper of a tale ensues. Out of work Reese though is referred by Chase to his headhunter/VP of human resources, and she winds up working at the company he owns. Unfortunately for Chase, it’s not the slam dunk he thinks it’s going to be as Reese, having been seriously burnt by an office romance before, draws a line in the sand. All that deliciously simmering mutual attraction was right there, bubbling away, though, and Chase, undeterred by her rejections, pursues her relentlessly and unrepentantly.
“You didn’t put up that wall to keep him out. You put it up to watch him break it down to get to you.”
They both have things from their pasts that they’re dealing with, though. For Chase, meeting Reese was an awakening he wasn’t aware he was in need of; the depth of feelings he had for her were unexpected and surprising, but he like it, he liked her, and he was embracing the possibility of a relationship with her with both arms. But Reese hasn’t had the best of luck in the romance department, and she went into it as if she were waiting for the other shoe to drop. While her heart may have wanted this relationship to work, her brain just wouldn’t let her accept that it possibly could. These two had some serious things to work through both individually and as a couple, though, and it wasn’t always smooth sailing.
“I was the balance to his unsteadiness. He was the courage to my fear.”
Keeland did an amazing job giving her readers so much more than a simple workplace romance with Bossman. There was a real story here, one that was at times heartbreaking and at others uplifting. But keeping within the confines of the romantic comedy she billed Bossman to be, Keeland managed to deliver all of these feels with a very healthy dose of humor. Seriously sexy, wonderfully witty and surprisingly emotional, Vi Keeland’s Bossman was a win for me and gets 4.5 smooches!

Reaper’s Fire by Joanna Wylde Excerpt Reveal
Excerpt
Tinker
It was almost seven that evening when I felt the AC kick back on. I’d been lying on my back on the (relatively) cool tile floor behind the counter, staring up at the pressed-tin ceiling and trying to remember why I hadn’t already moved back to Seattle.
In Seattle it rained.
Cool breezes blew off the bay and the lush greenery covered everything with its shaded canopy. People didn’t really need air-conditioning, but if they happened to have it and it broke, there were lots of repair men available.
Of course, Seattle also had Brandon. Not only that, my dad didn’t want to move, and I’d come to realize I couldn’t leave him here alone. It wasn’t safe for him, not since Mom died.
Ugh.
At least the AC was working again, blowing down from the ceiling vent across my sweaty body, reminding me that while the world might not be crawling with perfect men, at least there were still a few useful ones running around. Cooper Romero was a keeper, and it had nothing to do with how sexy he was . . . although the fact that he was sex on a stick—make that sex with a stick—didn’t exactly diminish his appeal.
When I’d dragged him up to the black tar roof to show him the ancient AC, I’d expected him to make a run for it. Any sensible man would. Instead, he’d spent the whole afternoon busting his ass to save my chocolates—Oh God, I wish that were code for something more exciting—officially qualifying him as a superhero in my book.
As for me, there wasn’t much I could do once I got all the sweets safely downstairs into the basement. There weren’t any customers walking in off the street, and seeing as I couldn’t make or ship candy in a 102-degree shop, I’d alternated between attempting to read a book, looking over orders I couldn’t fulfill on my laptop, and bringing Cooper glasses of iced tea. I’d been nervous around him at first, but you can only stay nervous for so long when you’re sweating like a pig—there’s a certain freedom in knowing you look like hell and there’s no saving your hair. I’d thrown my arm across my eyes in a pathetic attempt to block out reality toward the end.
When cold air started flowing into the room, I could’ve cried with relief. He’d never had a chance to fill out the application form, and I’d long since decided it didn’t matter. Unless he was an ax murderer, I’d give him the apartment and the job.
Might give it to him even if he was, to be honest.
“It’s working again,” Cooper announced, and I jerked, startled. Shit, had I fallen asleep? Opening my eyes, I looked up to find him standing over me. Dear God in heaven—that was one hell of a bare chest.
Holy. Shit.
I’d taken note of his build when he first walked in the shop, but everything under his shirt had been theoretical. Now there was six-foot-plus of raw sex appeal right there, all sweaty and sculpted and . . . well, let’s just say I’d be stopping off on the way home to pick up some fresh batteries.
That’s when the situation hit me—Cooper Romero was the hottest man I’d met in forever, and he’d just found me lying on the floor in my own sweat and filth like a dog. Typical luck. I scrambled to my feet, pretending I wasn’t totally embarrassed (I was) and not in the least bit freaked out by how unspeakably attractive this guy was. Okay, “attractive” wasn’t quite the right word, because it implied a certain level of polish and class that just didn’t fit Cooper at all.
Brandon was attractive.
Cooper?
I’d lick him all over and massage his butt if he asked. He stared down at me, his eyes carefully blank, making it very clear he wasn’t asking. Story of my fucking life. Sitting up, I pushed myself to my feet without bothering to dust off. Lost cause at this point.
“Not sure how much life the AC has left,” he said slowly. “I managed to get it going, but fixing it right would cost more than it’s worth and then some.”
Of course it would.
“I just need to get through the summer,” I told him, wiping a finger under my eye. My perfectly applied, vintage-style makeup had melted, leaving me with a clown face. Fortunately I’d (mostly) given up on caring three hours ago, right around the time I’d discovered the floor tiles were cooler than the rest of the room. “After that, I’ll worry about the furnace and by next summer I might not even be here anymore.”
“Really?” he asked, cocking a brow. “You selling out?”
“Not sure,” I told him. “I’m not thinking that far ahead right now. Things are very iffy with my dad . . . I think he’s got some—”
No. I couldn’t say it. Saying it out loud made it too real, plus the last thing I needed were a bunch of rumors flying around town. So far we’d kept dad’s situation mostly to family and friends.
“Tinker?”
Shaking myself, I smiled at him. “Thank you so much for fixing that. I’m not even sure what I would’ve done—I can’t afford to miss a week’s worth of orders. Not only would it put me behind, it would burn my customers.”
He nodded, studying me thoughtfully. God, he really was beautiful . . . Nothing like Brandon’s polished sophistication. No, Cooper gave off more of a warrior-tossing-you-over-his-fearless-steed kind of vibe. Yeah, like that would end well, because my track record with men was so fucking perfect, right?
Pull your head out of the gutter. He probably has a girlfriend.
At least I could finally lock up this hellhole of a shop and get a shower.
“Thank you so much—you have no idea how much I appreciate it.”
“No, but the whole throwing yourself at my feet thing was a subtle hint,” he said, and I realized he was teasing me. Was he flirting? I couldn’t decide if that kicked ass or scared the shit out of me.
“Anyway, it’s getting late,” I told him, feeling suddenly awkward. “I’m going to grab some dinner down the street, and then I could take you over and show you the apartment.”
A small, knowing smile crossed his face, and I realized he thought I was hitting on him.
“No,” I said quickly, mortified. “I wasn’t asking you out. Omigod, this is weird.”
“What, you aren’t turned on by a man who smells like old socks?” he asked lightly, raising his arm and giving a sniff. He was joking, but the sweat wasn’t a turnoff. Nope. Not even a little bit. “If that’s not enough for you, the roof tar on my ass should be a big attraction.”
Closing my eyes, I bit back a groan. He started laughing. Not in a cruel way, but companionably, which I guess made sense because both of us were disgusting as hell. Of course, now I wanted to check out his ass, but I managed to keep my eyes on target (mostly) when I answered him.
“Well, it’s sexy but I’ll manage to control myself somehow. I do want to grab dinner, though, and we need to figure out the apartment details.”
“I’ll take the place, doesn’t matter what it is,” he replied. “I’m in a hotel and it’s getting old. I’d love to move in on Sunday, but I can’t go look at it right now—gotta get my ass cleaned up. Meeting up with someone later.”
Of course he was, because men who looked like Cooper didn’t spend Friday nights alone.
“Sounds great,” I told him, refusing to show any disappointment. “Just text me when you’re ready, and I’ll get you the key.”
He opened his mouth to say something, but a sudden pounding against the locked shop door caught us both off guard. I spun around to find Talia Jackson glaring at me through the glass. Talia and three of her skankier friends, including Sadie Baxter, a girl I used to babysit when I was in college.
A girl who was now twenty.
Damn.
“Cooper!” Talia shouted. “What the fuck are you doing?”
I glanced at my new handyman, startled. Talia Jackson and her brother, Marsh, were two of the nastiest people I’d ever met. Marsh was president of the local motorcycle gang, a group called the Nighthawk Raiders motorcycle club. The club had been around most of my life, but it was only in recent years that they’d turned really bad. I mean, they were never the kinder, gentler sort of bikers, but I’d never been actively afraid when I’d heard a motorcycle, either.
Now? Let’s just say we’d all gotten a little edgy.
“That’s my girl,” Cooper said, and something deep down inside of me died a little. Of course he’d go for someone like Talia. She might have the heart of a deranged circus clown—you know, the kind that survives by eating the souls of innocent children—but she was hot.
Really hot.
Not only that, she was slutty, and while I wasn’t into the whole slut-shaming thing (like I had room to judge after the bachelorette party debacle . . . ugh), I wasn’t naive enough to think he was attracted to her personality. Cooper Romero might have a sweet smile, and he’d fixed my AC, but now I had proof positive that he’d never be into a girl like me.
Specifically, a grown-up with curves.
All righty, then. Probably for the best anyway.
“Just a sec!” I called to her, determined to take the high road, then I grabbed my keys so I could open the door. She pushed inside with her posse, and I do mean pushed. Little bitch shoved me so hard I nearly knocked over the display of antique Russian teacups my mother had lovingly collected. (So far as I knew, she’d never sold a single one of them, but it’d made her happy.)
“Careful,” I warned, and Talia turned on me.
“What did you just say to me?”
“Babe, let’s talk,” Cooper said, catching her arm and pulling her into his body. She squealed, going from aggressive to flirty in an instant.
“You’re all sweaty. It’s sooo disgusting.”
I noted she wasn’t trying to get away. Cooper smiled down at her, a hint of something feral in his eyes. Yeah, okay—whatever smile he’d been giving me, it hadn’t held any of that kind of intensity.
Yours truly was officially chopped liver.
“I was just about to head out and grab a shower,” he told her. “Wanna come with me?”
She pouted. “I can’t. The girls and I need to get fixed up. I’ll see you at the bar, though, right?”
He looked down at her, offering a sexy, indulgent smile. “Can’t wait.”
“Perfect,” she said, reaching around to grab his ass for a quick squeeze. Then she turned and strutted back out without a word to me, her gaggle of girls following like well-trained geese. Sadie gave a little finger wave on the way. The door closed behind them with a cheerful little jingle, and I wondered why the hell I even bothered with Hallies Falls.
I missed Seattle.
So what if it had Brandon? I could drown him in Lake Washington. Problem solved.
“Sorry about that—Talia is a little high-strung,” Cooper said.
“Oh, I know all about her,” I replied, hoping I didn’t sound as catty as I felt. Cooper didn’t seem to notice.
“I’m new to town, but she’s been showing me around,” Cooper continued, stepping over to stand in front of me, hands shoved deep in his front pockets. “I should get going.”
“Of course—don’t let me keep you. What time do you think you’ll be in touch tomorrow?”
“Afternoon work?”
“No problem. Looking forward to hearing from you.”
He nodded and pushed through the door, walking down the street without a second look back. I locked up behind him, wondering why all the hottest guys were douchebags. Not that Cooper had acted like a douche, but he had to be my age or older—late thirties—and Talia was the same age as Sadie. She was also a raging bitch. There was only one reason a man like him would date a girl like that, and it had nothing to do with personality or character.
Cooper Romero might be beautiful, but obviously he was shallow. Suppose it was too much to hope for a man who could fix an air conditioner and have a soul at the same time.
Pity

New York Times bestselling author Joanna Wylde returns to the “wild and raw”* world of the Reapers MC with the story of Gage and Tinker…
The club comes first.
I’ve lived by those words my whole life—assumed I’d die by them, too, and I never had a problem with that. My Reaper brothers took my back and I took theirs and it was enough. Then I met her. Tinker Garrett. She’s beautiful, she’s loyal, and she works so damned hard it scares me sometimes . . . She deserves a good man—one better than me. I can’t take her yet because the club still needs me. There’s another woman, another job, another fight just ahead.
Now she’ll learn I’ve been lying to her all along. None of it’s real. Not my name, not my job, not even the clothes I wear. She thinks I’m nice. She pretends we’re just friends, that I’ve still got a soul . . . Mine’s been dead for years. Now I’m on fire for this woman, and a man can only burn for so long before he destroys everything around him.
I’m coming for you, Tinker.
Soon.
