Review

This is one of times you kick yourself for not reading a series/book sooner. This is my first from J Daniels. Stupid me . When I fall is Reed and Beth’s story. Damn I love them two. Beth hasn’t exactly had the best life but shes a survivor. Reed determined to never let himself get his heart involved again, protects himself by picking up random women fucking them.. Nothing else. Hell he doesn’t even kiss them. Well until Beth that is.

“I’m not stroking myself because she took my mouth and fucking owned it like it never belonged to me. And I’m definitely not moaning her name because I liked that kiss. No, that’s not what’s happening. Not even close.

I fucking loved that kiss. Loved. It. ” 

Reed and Beth together are hilarious! I laughed so hard. Especially that scene in the men’s bathroom scene!!

Beth. Damn I love her. She has had a shitty life. She can EASILY be a victim, easily. Yet she’s not and she’s also not an ice queen which is another route her character could have taken. She’s just Beth. She’s amazing, funny and like I said she’s just Beth. When you read it you will know what I mean. My heart broke for her. I wanted her to grieve, she deserved to but she doesn’t she just gets on with life and is a pretty amazing female leading character. She has the biggest heart and cares so much.

Reed. WELL. Him and his mouth. Yes fucking please. He’s so filthy I love it! He has alpha tendencies and he’s so damn hot. You want to smack him on the head though when he’s a bit slow on realizing things but when his alpha side and that filthy mouth comes out helloooo. You also understand his reasons behind wanting to protect his heart and he is easily forgiven.

“Dirty girl, touching yourself while you suck my dick. You love this, don’t you? You’re making such a mess between your legs right now.”

This was funny, sexy and hit some emotional subjects too. Reed and Beth are one of my favourite couples. They compliment each other so well. I think Beth completely surprises Reed and knocks him on his ass. I think Reed is the hero Beth always needed. Beth is her own hero don’t get me wrong. That chick is strong but she needs someone that can be that hero for her. The two of them are so hot when together! I’m an idiot for not reading sooner but will be reading J Daniels other books so go read this book while I pack up my stuff and move to Ruxton where all the hot alphas are. Seriously I fell in love with the town too! Hot alphas and great people. I’M THERE!! The only thing I would suggest is reading them from book one. They are a series and each one CAN be read as a standalone but if you’re like me and love to know everyone’s story and don’t like missing out on anything read the other two first! It also took me a bit to cop on to who was married to who, who was related and who were just friends because all the characters link in together which I love! So I will definitely be reading the first two!

Here’s the thing about Cedar.
I have no control over her.
Really.
None.
Which is a horrifying and slightly ridiculous thing to say about a creation of my own mind, who exists only in Word documents. But it’s true. Honestly, I don’t think I ever did have any control over her.
I don’t want to spoil anything, but when you read BEAUTIFUL LITTLE FOOL, there are things that happen that I didn’t only not plan in advance, I didn’t have any idea it was happening while I was typing.
Because that’s what happens with characters, sometimes. They take over the story, regardless of what you want.
And normally that’s cool, and you move forward because you trust your characters and the story they want to tell.
But I don’t trust Cedar at all.
I don’t suggest you trust her, either.
What comes with not trusting Cedar? Having to rewrite large chunks of the book because I have won exactly zero arguments against Cedar. And then rewriting more, because Cedar’s story, much like her, demand perfection.
Perfection takes time. Perfection took more time than I could have imagined it would.
I have never fought characters this hard.
I hope, hope, hope that the fighting has made this a better story.

Mr. Morris bustled into the room, holding a sheaf of papers. Every muscle in Cedar’s body stiffened. The board members all sat up straight.
“Well, then. I’ll just get started, then.” Mr. Morris cleared his throat, and began to read the will out loud. “I, Harold James Feingold, being of sound mind and…”
You could hear a pin drop as he read through the contents of the will. And when he got up to the part about Ellis, the room was so thick with tension you could have used it to soundproof Cedar’s office.
“And that’s it,” Mr. Morris said, looking up from the will. “Board meetings will be postponed for the next week, barring any emergency.”
“Who the fuck is Ellis Carrington?” One of the board members finally burst out, voicing the question that everyone had been thinking.
Cedar’s fingers were flying across her phone, Googling him as fast as she could. Heir of almost everything Feingold owned. And none of them had heard of him.
Harold, what the fuck were you thinking? She thought, furious, scrolling through Google. Graduate of business school. Lived in Connecticut. Parents died in a freak accident when he was five.
Nothing. It told her nothing.

“I can’t always have what I want.”

WOW, this series was perfection for me. When I went into Attraction I thought I was getting a fun and quirky new adult series that would have me laughing. I knew, it being written by Penny and all, that it would be well written and enjoyable. What I never expected would be the extreme range of emotions it would take me through and how when I was finished I would be an emotional mess unable to read anything for days. This book was phenomenal and as of today (5/16/15) my top read of the year.

“I also realized that this, a friendship with Martin, was either going to help me get over him and be my best idea of all time, or I was going to fall even harder and it was the worst mistake I would ever make.”

Capture wraps of the Elements Of Chemistry and picks up months after that big ole cliffhanger left us. Separated and attempting to move on with their lives Martina and Kaitlyn are attempting to move forward but when you feel so deeply for someone, even someone you spent such a short amount of time with, fully moving on is impossible. After being reunited, Martin and Kaitlyn are attempting to be friends with the understanding that they cannot be more  . . . or can they?

“Kissing you always means something to me.”

Filled fully with the Penny humor and wit we have all come to love Capture was a vastly enjoyable read but it was not an easy read. I was overly emotional and stressed the entire time I was reading it, often taking breaks to put my sanity back in place. These two needed to be together but neither makes it easy on the other. Full of angst and drama with enough sexual tension in the air it was almost impossible to breathe Capture was a beautiful conclusion to a series that blew me away.

“All I knew was that we were in a closet kissing, his amorous hands were up my skirt, and the figurative Bunsen burner in my pants demanded satisfaction.”

As I have stated before the titles of these books are so spot on it proves again what a genius Penny is. Attraction is full of flirty fun times and sparkling banter between Martin and Kaitlyn, they are getting to really know each other and starting to give into the mutual chemistry they feel. Heat is . . . well Heat is HOT. Sexy and provocative, Heat pulls us in and we get a glimpse of how great these two really can be together. And then there is Capture, which I would say is because after being separated it is all about getting back to what they had but what it really did for me was Capture my heart.

“You’re all I think about, all I want, you are everything.”

The Elements Of Chemistry series will grab you from the start and change you by the end. Penny Reid has taken a story that yo think you have read before and done it like no other has accomplished. Full of laugher, suggestion and characters you can love and some you can hate Penny’s first full jaunt into the world of new adult is a top read recommendation for this girl.

This is one of those series’ that has me anticipating the next one immediately after finishing the current one. I hate waiting for anything, which is why I’m queen of microwave cooking and instant dry nail polish, needless to say I am definitely a mistress of instant gratification but with Unblocked the wait is so worth it and the good news is I really don’t have that long in between each new installment. Each new episode seems to bring more intrigue and drama with it, sure it answers a few questions along the way but it also adds more mystery and angst as well as scorching sex, humour and a beautiful unfurling romance between the two main characters Frankie and Derek and more importantly it grips my interest from beginning to end and it doesn’t relent even once. Frankie is intelligent and confident where Derek is mysterious and ouvertly sexy.

‘My hands clench over my keyboard, a keyboard I wanted to rub over her pussy, teasing her with every key, so I could keep a taste of her in my office. She knew I wanted her, that my dick was hard when I was around her and she was denying me. Testing me. She was making me work harder than I ever had. My pink ivory was so fucking worth it.’

As well as the steam factor, Marni manages to bring a tale of corruption and underhanded business dealings into the plot. The romance and fun of the story balances perfectly with the darker side of the real estate moguls world so you’re getting a lot more than you bargained for in this fascinating tale. I’m on the edge of my seat to see what happens with our heroic couple next!

I am obsessed with sports romance. I think because I live in Northern Ireland where if it isn’t rugby or football (soccer) the population doesn’t want to hear about it. So with the likes of American football, ice hockey and baseball I get to live vicariously and fall in love with each superstar player. One sport I haven’t experienced through book form is tennis. Along with golf I tend to think of it as a bit boring. In Game of Love hot-shot UK tennis player Gemma has set her sights on the Wimbledon title and nothing will stand in her way and especially no love entanglements, which is where sexy savant Andre interrupts her best laid plans. The dynamic between our two heroes is fairly entertaining, built upon a serendipitous meeting that brings about an unlikely friendship and before long a fragile fledgling romance. Andre is witty and chivalrous with a terrific personality, he’s genius level smart and humble to boot. Paired with Gemma who is highly intelligent, athletic and ambitious with an amazing work ethic as well the couple spark well off each other but the one thing that let the story down was the speed of everything. It was unbearably slow with little to no real romance or steam. It lacked serious sexual tension with the story focusing more on Gemma’s insecurities and paranoia and Andre constantly having to chase after her to reassure her. Maybe my brain has been over saturated with hunky hockey players and suave baseball pitchers where the language is more coarse and the action a lot more in demand but Game of Love fell short for me. I found it lagging in places and was tempted to turn through pages without reading it properly but I felt that I owed the author the common courtesy of reading the entire thing before I made up my mind. There needed to be more of a connection between the two characters after the friendship stage. There is a bit of a blackmail story arc running through the book with a betrayal or two and a bad guy or two as well but again there wasn’t enough drama out of these situations to save the enjoyment factor for me. It is very well written, great use of language and dialogue and I do believe the author has great potential but maybe just needs a bit more work developing the characters actual interactions with each other. It wasn’t my type of book but I’m positive there will be a ton of readers who will enjoy Game of Love.
