5 SMOOCHES!

SYNOPSIS:

My marriage started as a lie.

But some lies are worth telling.

My father’s dying wish was to walk me down the aisle, and I’d do anything for him.

Even marry a man I don’t love.

So when my fiance jilts me only days before the ceremony, I turn to my college friend, Oliver Parkerson, and convince him to marry me.

My family hasn’t met either man, so I’m confident we can pull this off.

But the feelings, our touches, the way my heart beats for him… none of it feels pretend. The way he holds me at night and carries me through loss tells me he’s not acting either.

I didn’t mean to fall for my fake husband, but real love was the one thing I couldn’t predict.

Except, nothing built on lies can last–I know that better than anyone.

But the truth might tear us apart forever.

REVIEW:

I’ve been looking forward to this story since we met the hero, Oliver Parkerson, in the Arrowood series. Oliver’s relationship imploded in that story, and while everything worked out for the best, his heartbreak was real and not something I forgot. I yearned to see this really good guy get his happily ever after, and Michaels is giving readers just that in this story.

Once upon a time, Oliver was engaged to another woman he met in college. The thing was she was in love with another man, and when it came out that he was also in love with her, being the good guy he was, Oliver bowed out and left the girl, the relationship and that town behind. Maren’s father is dying, and his last wish is to walk his little girl down the aisle with the knowledge she’ll be cared for by the man she loves. The problem with this scenario is the guy marrying her is a new relationship, and following a bout of cold feet, he backs out days before the wedding. Good guy Oliver swoops in to save the day agreeing to her fake marriage scheme.

As a longtime reader of Corinne’s, I’m truly used to battering of my emotions and abuse of my heart that she so readily dishes out. This woman shreds her readers without a backwards glance, and I think she enjoys it. I digress… I downloaded this book with the full knowledge that there would be some pain involved before the pleasure and piecing me back together parts. But here’s the thing, amidst the emotional rollercoaster of Oliver and Maren’s unconventional love story, Michaels took her readers on a truly beautiful, deeply emotional yet seriously satisfying ride. Combustible chemistry, flirty banter and some complicated circumstances combine in a fun, fiery, full of feels, fake trip down the aisle that turns real.

A beautifully written, touching love story, A Chance For Us is bursting with heartfelt emotion. Michaels delivers a twisting, turning story with her signature blend of angsty feels, steam and romance. Friendship catches fire in this engrossing, unputdownable love story, and I devoured it, furiously tapping my Kindle, in a single sitting. Five smooches from me for A Chance For Us by Corinne Michaels!
