REVIEW:

I’m a longtime, Kristen Ashley fan, so I’m always excited for a new book from her. I really enjoyed Chasing Serenity and After the Climb, so I was definitely looking forward to Taking the Leap. KA’s books are magical for me—they’re the kinds of stories that I just completely get lost in. From the amazing worlds she builds to her richly developed characters and the careful attention KA pays to all the details, her stories come together into these truly special reading experiences for me. I can’t get enough of KA work, whether it be one of her many back catalog favorites that I continuously re-read or a new book I’m reading for the first time, I know whatever I discover between those pages will be uniquely KA.

I loved Rix and Alex’s story. KA is known to give her characters a slew of wonderful, interesting characters, but this story felt pretty centered on Alex and Rix, and I liked that. Rix, a double-amputee and former fire fighter, has some serious baggage, understandably so. My heart went out to this man and the hand life had dealt him. Alex is a little shy and awkward, and she’s got her own baggage in the form of her uber-wealthy, ultra-snobby family.

Fake romances are so much fun, and this was a really great one. It went from fake to fiery pretty quick, and I really loved the way this couple connected. A secondary story involving Alex’s family was equally interesting, and I enjoyed that plot arc a lot. But this was a pretty emotional love story given the hurdles Alex and Rix had to overcome, and my heart ached for Rix especially as KA took them through their paces.

Taking the Leap was a deep and moving story about healing and finding the love you were meant to have. Heart-tugging, heart-racing and heat filled, Taking the Leap was a blaze of emotions ignited by an inferno of challenges and chemistry. I positively devoured this story, and I’m very much looking forward to the next book in the series. Five smooches from me for Taking the Leap by Kristen Ashley.
