Plans are not always set in stone. An unexpected turn almost ruins Garnet’s career, and the person she most despises wants to help her find her way back. Turns out, the truth has a way of unlocking secrets that can either make Garnet stronger or destroy everything she’s worked so hard to build.

Review

I recently just read my first M/M romance book and absolutely loved it, so to get my hands on this brand new serialised story and discover my first F/F relationship as well I was damn eager to see if it lived up to my expectations. Spin Me Round is hot, it’s also relatively short in length but manages to pack an almighty punch with its expert wit, sarcasm, sex and scandal. Set in the fast-paced world of DJ superstar on the rise Garnet, it involves a deliciously dirty ex football star, a seemingly flawless F/F relationship, a blatant dose of temptation and a serious case of kink.

‘“Just what were you up to in there, Gar?”

I attempt to pull my hand from his, but he’s too strong and keeps it by his lips. Then he slowly slips my fingers inside his mouth, his tongue curling and sucking. I groan loudly, struck with a longing sensation between my thighs. I need my vibrator. Now.”

Review

The first installment of Spin Me Round managed to take me out of my reading comfort zone and show me a whole new fascinating world that was cleverly put together and expanded. It set the scene for a brilliant entanglement of messy emotion, potent sex and complications but book 2 seemed to be missing something and I think for me personally it was the decision by the writer to leave a huge scene out that not only left me feeling bereft and cheated but also gave me negative feelings towards Wes as Garnet was so completely intoxicated it was almost like he took utter advantage, especially as she tries valiantly to piece together what exactly happened.

‘“You’re an ass.”

Wes nods, acknowledging it.

“Get yourself another water so you don’t end up in the hospital,” I hiss. I start to walk away, but he grabs my wrist.

“What we did was nothing like that. We fucked, but we also made love, Gar and it was beautiful. You’re beautiful. Do you hear me?”’

There is some drug use in the second part, as jealousy, guilt and despair war with changing feelings, playing a major part in the second book of Spin me Round but like the first there is plenty of scorching sex scenes and good character development to keep you hooked.

Review

I generally don’t condone cheating in books, in fact I abhor it with the fire of a thousand nasty STI infected suns but I have to say, in Spin Me Round it didn’t really bother me overly much, whether it was due to the fact that Garnet and Wes are as confused, mixed up and perfectly imperfect and beautiful for each other as they are, or the fact that Elle has constructed a wonderful titillating and addicting series that I was rooting for these two from the very beginning. Book three sees Lena’s true colours shine through as she and Garnet attempt to gain some closure on their tempestuous relationship so that she and Wes can finally be together officially, unequivocally and without any other complications coming between them. It was lovely to witness Garnet’s softer side in book three, as she and Wes relish each other’s company and strength. Garnet’s childhood plays a major role in how her character behaves and thinks, ambitious to a fault, stoic and relatively closed off, so it was particularly sweet and sexy to read the connection that she and Wes share.

‘“Whether you’re with a girl or a guy, your heart will know love because of who that person its inside, not because they’re a certain sex. You respect them for who they are. We’re all the same, baby. Black or white, gay or straight. It doesn’t matter. It’s in here that counts.” I thump my chest lightly. “You respect the person who lives in the body. Fuck I’m rambling.”’

Review

‘“Didn’t want to wait for me?” I can’t see her expression in the dark, yet the double entendre is clear as day. The last thing I want to do is hurt her, and the tone of her voice tells me she’s hurting. I reach up and take her cheeks between my hands, kissing her gently. Slowly I guide her until she’s lying on top of me. The warmth of her lips fills the void in my heart, so I kiss her like there’s no tomorrow…and frankly I don’t know how much time we have left.’

Part four of Spin Me Round begins to draw everything in for a conclusion. Lena is still up to her juvenile and pathetic attempts at revenge and sabotage as Garnet does her best to prove how resilient and determined she actually is in the face of hostility. Wes has shown possibly the most character development, progressing from a foul mouthed lothario with a penchant for coke to someone full of love and understanding and hope for someone else. They both show a great connection to one another, strengthening and bolstering each other to greater things and bringing out selfless and beautiful characteristics that had lain dormant or underused before they discovered each other. Their love isn’t without its obstacles and fights but the whole way through this series you will be wishing and hoping and praying that they get that happy ever after. It’s been consistently well written with thoroughly engaging characters and I really hope this isn’t the final installment as I definitely need a lengthy epilogue with a bright, happy shiny ‘and they all lived happily ever after…’ type of ending.
