SYNOPSIS:

A sexy, swoony falling-for-the-neighbor standalone romance from #1 New York Times bestselling author Lauren Blakely!

Just my luck – my new next door neighbor is a unicorn.

Yep, the British hottie is clearly a mythical man because – get this – he’s a sexy, witty, charming, big-hearted single dad.

Who, wait for it, wants to find Mrs. Right and get hitched.

He’s a once-in-a-blue-moon kind of man, and it’s a darn shame I’m not on the market. If I were, his accent alone would melt me. Add in the fact that he’s a veterinarian, and my animal-loving heart would be flip flopping.

But my heart’s on the mend. I’m a single parent like him, and raising my teenage daughter is my top priority. Plus, falling for a guy who shares your property line is a line you shouldn’t cross.

Still, I’m an outgoing gal, so I do the neighborly thing and offer to be his dating insider.

Surely, I can help this small town’s most eligible bachelor ever navigate his way through all the fantastic single ladies eager to make his acquaintance.

What could possibly go wrong in helping the dream guy next door find his one true love?

So I set him up on one date, two dates, three dates — and I’m about to find out exactly how dangerous my offer is.

REVIEW:

The Dream Guy Next Door was exactly what I was hoping for when I picked it up. I loved this story so much that I grabbed the audiobook, too. A smart call on my part as this was such an expertly, exceptionally well-narrated story that I easily and blissfully lost myself in Liam and January’s sweet, sexy romance. Rich with fantastically flirty banter, smoking hot chemistry, characters who endeared themselves to me immediately, the entertaining plot was low on the angsty drama but high on the good stuff like the connection, the delicious relationship build-up, the romance. There was just the right amount of genuine, heart-tugging emotion, not so much as to send tears streaking down my cheeks while I sobbed in the corner or anything, but enough to keep me waiting with bated breath through the will-they-or-won’t-they stage.

Single mom, January, is freshly divorced out of a loveless marriage to a nice guy who was a good dad. For the first time, she’s focusing on herself, her daughter and her new business. She doesn’t want a man, she doesn’t need a man, and she isn’t looking for a man. Single dad, Liam, moved in next door, and he is looking for a woman. He wanted his match, his person, someone to share a life with him and his son. A veterinarian, he was thoughtful and kind wrapped up in a hot, devastatingly handsome package with a British accent. January, the heroine, was vivacious, vibrant, and a woman who knew what she did not want but was still figuring out what it was that she did want. Sparks flew immediately between these two, and although January valiantly tried to channel them into a friendship, it was a futile effort. Oh yeah, this couple was one of those effortlessly, naturally sexy couples, and I loved them. Set in the delightful small town of Duck Falls, I thoroughly enjoyed Blakely’s depiction of this idyllic little town, full of amusing, in-your-business residents who made up the cast of interesting side characters.

The Dream Guy Next Door by Lauren Blakely was as wonderful to read as it was to listen to, and I highly recommend doing just that as Shane East brings Liam to life with his goose-bump-inducing accent. Vanessa Edwin is a perfect complement as January, and I could happily listen to this pairing narrate just about anything including Blakely’s grocery list. Romantic and steamy, witty and charming, and full of all the easy feels I love from this author, The Dream Guy Next Door was a heartwarming, heart-racing light-hearted pleasure to read. Five smooches from me for Lauren Blakely’s The Dream Guy Next Door!
