Synopsis

She thinks he’s an arrogant playboy.
He thinks she’s an uptight prude.
But he’s about to make her an offer she can’t refuse.

Nicola Price used to have it all – a great career, the perfect boyfriend, an excessive shoe collection and an apartment in one of San Francisco’s best neighborhoods. But when she gets knocked up and her asshat boyfriend leaves her high and dry, Nicola’s perfectly crafted world comes tumbling down. And stays that way.

Now, Nicola is the proud single mom to a five-year old daughter and living a giant lie. She can barely afford their ghetto apartment and all the men she dates run when they hear she comes with a child. She’s struggling and scared – and nowhere near where she thought she’d be at age thirty-one.

Her saving grace comes in the form of a tall, handsome and wealthy Scotsman Bram McGregor, the older brother of her friend Linden. Bram understands a thing or two about pride, so when tragic circumstances place Nicola at rock bottom, he offers them a place to live in the apartment complex he owns. It’s pretty much the perfect deal, so as long as she doesn’t mind living beside Bram, a man that, despite his generosity, seems to antagonize her at every turn.

But nothing in life is free and as Nicola gets her feet back on the ground, she discovers that the enigmatic playboy may end up costing her more than she thought.

She might just lose her heart.

Those McGregor brothers are nothing but trouble…

Review

I have been dying to write this review since I finished this amazing book yesterday.  Usually I have to think about what I want to say about a book for a few a days but this book was kind of special.  Why, you ask.  Because I love all of Karina’s books.  I am obsessed with her characters, her places, her writing.  It takes me away from my every day life and places me in an alternate fictional universe of drama, fun, and adventure.  Her writing takes me everywhere and I knew I would love the The Offer.  I just wasn’t prepared for how much I would it.  It was, in one word, PERFECT.  I wouldn’t change a single thing about this book.  I loved the story.  The characters were amazing and real and completely flawed.  I fell in love with all of them.  Especially Bram, oh Bram!

the offer

I mean I really loved The Pact and Linden is a damn hard act to follow but Karina did the unthinkable.  She made me love Bram more.  I am completely obsessed with this man and his and Nicola’s story.  It was magical and I literally read this book straight through.  I could not stop.  How did Karina Halle write a book that was somehow more touching, more heart wrenching, more sexy, and yet more funny at the same time than The Pact?  I have no clue, but it happened.

Bram had to work just as hard to win me over and as he did Nicola and I am so glad that he did because the man is sexy beast and one of my very tip top book boyfriends ever now.

Oh the things I could do to try and break down that wall.  I’d pull out brick by brick with my teeth until she’s screaming  my name.

Nicola’s resistance to playboy Bram was admirable but ever stone faced, no fun, mommy’s cannot resist his charms.

He was trouble, danger, and I needed to stay away from men like him.

But when they come together is really when their story begins.  Because these two people help each other in becoming better and they had me completely smitten.  Smiling at their sweetness and falling in love with their small family.  Nothing is easy though, and Bram has a past he is hiding and Nicola is so very scared to give her heart away.

“Even smart girls can be fools sometimes.”

This book was witty, charming, sweet, sexy, and angsty.  I loved it to bits.  I seriously cannot believe that Bram managed to make me love him like he did.  LInden was my first but Bram stole my heart for always.  I sure do hope I get a book about this hot cousin Scottish rugby player and Kayla.   I cannot get enough of these boys!

“All in due time.”
