SYNOPSIS:

Devney Maxwell has been my best friend since we were six years old, but she has no idea I’m in love with her.

Even when I’m on the road playing professional baseball, she’s my home–the only one I’ve ever known. But when I return to Sugarloaf to care for the family farm, I discover she’s trying to talk herself into a life with the wrong man … and I become desperate.

It only takes a single, perfect kiss to change everything.

I have six months to get it right with Devney–to convince her to leave this town and turn that kiss into forever.

I aim to do just that as I spend my days coaching her nephew’s baseball team, fixing up the farm, and loving her with all I have. Finally, it seems like our relationship is secure and we’ll find a way to make it work.

Then tragedy strikes … changing her life forever. She’s needed here more than ever, but as for me–there’s no way I can stay.

I know she’s the one for me, but I might have to let her go …

REVIEW:

Best friends-to-lovers romances hold a special place in my heart. It probably has a lot to do with the fact that I’m living my own BFTL romance, having recently celebrated a major milestone anniversary that marked decades of coupledom and friendship with my high school best friend. I found my happily ever after at 17 on the night we graduated high school. So I really love reading all different iterations of this type of love story because I always find something in each story that reminds me of my own romance, that speaks to me or brings me back to that time.

I’m a huge Corinne Michaels fan, and the Arrowood Brothers series has fast become my favorite from her. Each of the books so far have been on my most anticipated lists, and the remainder of the series is as well. Michaels gave her readers an amazing story in the very aptly titled, The One For Me. Known for her heartbreaking storytelling, Corinne delivered a story packed with feels, incredible characters and the kind of knee-weakening, heart-tugging romance that stays with me long after I’ve finished it. All the angsty, gut-wrenching emotion was here, but it was still a lighter-hearted—for Michaels—story. Oh, I cried all the tears, but I found comfort in their ever-present friendship as I was swept up in their swoon-worthy romance.

The One For Me was pure friends-to-lovers magic. I loved everything about Sean and Devney’s poignant and moving love story. It was romantic and sexy, hard-fought and difficult at times, but Michaels tempered those deep emotional moments with the ease and lightness of this couple’s long-standing friendship. I positively devoured this book, I didn’t want to put it down, I didn’t want it to end. An absolute joy to read, The One For Me is a new favorite of mine from Corinne Michaels and a top favorite for the year. Five smooches from me!
