Synopsis

The unveiling of a set of priceless illustrations of Dante’s Divine Comedy at the Uffizi Gallery exposes the unsuspecting Professor Gabriel Emerson and his beloved wife, Julianne, to a mysterious and dangerous enemy.

Unbeknownst to the Professor, the illustrations he secretly acquired years ago were stolen a century earlier from the ruler of Florence’s underworld. Now one of the most dangerous beings in Italy is determined to reclaim his prized artwork and exact revenge on the Emersons, but not before he uncovers something disturbing about Julianne …

Set in the city of Florence, “The Prince” is a prequel novella to “The Raven,” which is the first book in the new Florentine Series Trilogy by Sylvain Reynard.

“The Prince” can be read as a standalone but readers of The Gabriel Series may be curious about the connection between The Professor’s world and the dark, secret underworld of “The Prince.”

Review

I might have fangirled a little bit when I got this arc.  I am huge fan of the Gabriel Series by Sylvain Reynard.  Typically, I like my NA books told in first person but Sylvain managed to win me over with his poetic way of writing.  The entire series was written so incredibly well and when I heard that the Florentine Series would be paranormal, I was crazy excited.  I do love me a paranormal book and I just knew that if you combined a paranormal aspect and Sylvain’s writing the results would be magical.  I was SO not wrong.

A lot happens in this 80 something page prequel novella.  You meet “The Prince”, a very dangerous and in charge vampire.  You get to revisit Gabriel and Julianne and boy is it sexy.  And I do love how Sylvain Reynard does sexy.  I was really shocked that it looks like Gabriel and Julianne will be making more than a small appearance in this novella.  It looks like they will have more of a roll in this series than I thought and I am dying to find out what happens with them and The Prince.  You also get to experience the beginnings of a Vampire War.  This series is already giving me the feels.  Dark, romantic, erotic, and intriguing, it had me hooked.  I cannot wait for The Raven.  It is going to be phenomenal.
