Synopsis
Cinderella plays dirty…
Two brothers: One a crown prince; one a “playboy prince.”
Two sisters: One a con artist and card shark; one a pickpocket and petty thief.
One twisted plot for revenge.
When Grand Duke Reginald Winchester is exiled in disgrace, he vows he won’t go down without a fight. Crossing paths with Zee Wilder and her younger sister Ava at a gambling resort in Miami is the stroke of luck he seeks.
Zee is the counterfeit courtier in Reggie’s plan to humiliate Rowan, the controlled heir who kicked him out of the kingdom. In return, the sisters get a permanent spot on Easy Street.
If only Zee didn’t keep finding herself in a clutch with Cal, Rowan’s playboy younger brother. Ava’s no help, as she finds quiet walks in the moonlight discussing poetry and leadership with the brooding, future king irresistible. Even more irresistible is kissing his luscious lips…
The whole plan is falling apart, and neither sister is sure she wants to stop it.
Review
“I like that you see me as a man first. You’re not looking for anything. You don’t have an agenda.”
WOW! This book took me on a such a journey and this review is not going to be super long because of everything involved I want you to be able to experience the same twists and turns that I did.
‘I never expected MacCallum Lockwood Tate. Even if I had, I would never have been prepared for him.’
I don’t know if this will make sense to you all but this entire book read like a movie in my head with scenes playing out in my head vividly. Full of romance, desire, mystery and action, this was a book that had me constantly flipping pages to see what would happen next. With four main people making two couples but only two POVs the storytelling in The Prince & The Player was incredibly refreshing and unique.
‘He’s so dirty. Who knew I’d be so turned on by his wicked mouth.’
Down on their luck sisters Ava and Zee are brought in to manipulate the crown prince Rowan in a scheme to help an exiled Duke. But the two sisters never intended to fall for the heir and his brother the prince, Cal. While so many lies and manipulation take place from the sisters, Zee (a con-artist) and Ava (a pick pocket), I still could not help but feel for them and the situation that is forced upon them. My heart felt for these two but it is another part of all together that loved Rowan and Cal. These are two deviously sexy princes who are wildly protective and refuse to give up the women they love without a fight. While Rowan was sweet, Cal is wickedly sexy and I love him so so so much.
“I had sex with a king. Correction, I had sex with the king. I pretty much spent the entire night last night having orgasms. Can you believe it?”
Let me end this review by stating that yes, this is part one in a duet BUT no it does not have a bad cliffy at all. The end makes it clear that HEAs are happening and several loose ends tied up. For once when reading a duet I did not curse the author. It is clear that Tia Louise made every effort to give you an HEA with knowing that there are still issues that need resolving and plot developments that need exploring. I am eager for the next book but just because I want more of this group especially Cal who stole my heart completely.
