Review

I don’t know about you guys, but I have been waiting and waiting for Benny and Frankie.  We were introduced to these two special characters in At Peace, the second book in The ‘Burg Series, and I have been craving their book ever since.  The Promise is the fifth book in The ‘Burg Series by Kristin Ashley and it is Frankie and Benny’s Story; finally!

Frankie was alienated by the Bianchi family seven years ago when her boyfriend, Vinnie Bianchi died.  The truth is they wrongly blamed her for his death.  They were the only functional family that Frankie had so it was devastating to her, but now the Bianchi’s have realized the error of their ways and they want Frankie back.  Benny, Vinnie’s brother, really wants Frankie back; to keep for himself and to love.  He has always had a thing for Frankie and now with past grudges non-existent and his brother no longer with Frankie, he is making his play.  Frankie isn’t going to make it easy for him.  She has forgiven but she hasn’t forgotten how the Bianchi’s treated her and with a move from Chicago to the The ‘Burg she has  a new life waiting and a chance for a fresh start.

Oh my goodness,  I loved loved loved this book.  The ‘Burg happens to be one of my favorite Kristen Ashley Series.  Here is why.  These books are deliciously sexy,  They always have a bit of a mysterious “who done it?” type of factor.  Last, but not least, the characters are just freaking magical.  They are lovable, memorable, and often damaged in some way.  You will find yourself swept away by these wonderful people and their beautiful stories; praying and wishing for their happily-ever-afters, and thinking about about them long after you have closed their books.

Frankie and Benny were really no different.  I absolutely adored them.  Benny was actually quite a talker for an alpha KA man and I really loved that.  His love for Frankie showed again and again in his kindness and patience with her.  He knew their relationship was going to be hard work just like Frankie did, but he was willing to put it in if she did too.  He was also ridiculously sexy and a fabulous dirty talker.  Oh Benny, where have you been all my life?

“Taste me.  All of me.  Take your time.  Suck. Glide.  Get me wet.  Nothin’s off limits.  Look at me while you take me.  Watch what you do to me.”

And, Frankie, well I just could not help but feel sorry for the way her life went down.  Between her crazy dysfunctional family and  Vinnie’s death it seemed  she got handed one raw deal after another.  I kept hoping that Benny would show her the goodness in herself because she truly is so so good.

“It was a person who inspired love and loyalty and protection.  It was a person who got this because she gave it back.  It was the person I’d always been but never seen.  She was beautiful.”

Frankie and Benny’s story really was the best part about this book but I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed all of the different factors coming into play to make The Promise kind of a big deal.  For starters, my favorite KA couple ever comes back in this book!  Epic events happen in this couples life and I just have to say that it gave me the warm and fuzzies accompanied by a tear or two.  It just made me so happy to see they were still living out their dreams.  Also, a few of my favorite KA alpha-hotties make a début!

“They seem kinda like private investigator superheroes,”

This book really was amazing in a lot of ways. It was touching, sexy, and epic in a way that I cannot really explain without spoiling the whole book for you.  The ‘Burg Series as a whole is an absolute must read.  I don’t think Kristin Ashley can write a bad book and her epilogues, well, they make me so happy.  Just so happy.
