Review

When Nate returns home after leaving it all behind when the love of his life died he thought he would just exist there and nothing more. But he wasn’t counting on his old best friend sister to come walking into his life. Now not only is he imagining Miley in all sort of fantasies, he must now protect her and her young daughter Sierra from a very dangerous man. Throw in old family feuds, reunions and drama caused by jealously; Nate will realise he will feel more alive back home than he has ever been.

“After losing Natalie, there had been no light in my life. She’d been my reason to breathe, to smile; the first thought I woke to each morning and the last at night when I closed my eyes. When she left me, my world grew dark.”

Loved, loved, loved this story!! It was just perfect! Such beautiful, brave, strong and loveable lead characters and such a thrilling plot line. I was hooked from the very first page thanks to Linda’s captivating writing style and those books didn’t loosen one bit throughout the story.

“Hurt shone brightly from her blue eyes. It was tragic, but she was still so fucking beautiful that the sight of her stole the breath from my lungs. For a moment, I wished I could chase away all of those dark shadows lurking within her eyes.”

Nate was a wonderful male lead and has earned a place in one of my all time favourites. He has so much courage, strength and bravery and although his appearance might come across as big and rough, you could tell straight away that he would protect those that needed it and would love unconditionally if he would just open himself up to that love. The way he looked after Miley and Sierra literally made me heart sigh!

“I didn’t deserve her. I didn’t deserve anyone; not her, and definitely not Sierra. They would both be better off without me.”

Miley and Sierra were also wonderful characters. Miley was determined to stand on her own two feet and do whatever was best for her little girl. She had been through so much but she didn’t let it beat her down and instead remained standing tall. Her love for her daughter was beautiful and the way she wanted to look out for Nate was admirable. Sierra was the cutest little girl and even had me wrapped around her finger!

“She felt like fucking heaven and the answer to all of my prayers.”

The writing was so captivating. It just flowed flawlessly and the plot had everything I could ask for; romance, suspense, laughter and drama. It was a story of love and forgiveness, of letting go and moving on. But it also had some great twists and a lot of suspense which has me gripping my kindle tightly. I loved the back stories of Nate’s family and finding out what had happened with Miley and her family. And I loved the light heartedness that was woven throughout this story which stopped it from being too heavy. It was just the perfect mixture which helped create one of my favourite reads this year!
