Synopsis

They say there’s a fine line between love and hate.

There is.

I married a douchebag.

I didn’t know it at the time.

He came in like a handsome stranger and blew me off my feet.

I fell madly in love, like the naive girl I am.

Then he left me high and dry.

Turns out, I was nothing more than a business plan for billionaire playboy, Marcus Tandem.

He needed to be married in order to obtain his grandfathers business, and I was the poor victim in his path.

I believed in what we had, until the truth reared its ugly head.

I never meant anything to Marcus. Not a damned thing.

With my world spinning on its axis, the girl I once was has long since died.

Instead he left me as this empty, emotionless shell.

I may have made a vow before God to love and cherish him ‘Til Death do we part, but it’s time for me to give back to Marcus, exactly what he gave me.

He has to pay.

And pay he will.

This is part of a two book series and it will contain a HEA – Readers over 18+(less)

Review

Normally at the start of my reviews I give a quick synopsis of what the story is about however the beginning of this book tells you perfectly, so here you go…
“Let me tell you a story. It’s one of those stories that will make you hate with a passion that will scorch your soul. It might even make you hate me. After all, I married him….The man who I love so deeply, he’ll scar me in a way that’s irreversible. He’s the man who destroys lives, yet makes them beautiful all at the same time.”
I absolutely loved this novella. It was so intense and kept me captivated right until the very end and beyond. So many questions, twists and biting your nails wondering what is going to happen. It is a short story and I don’t want to give anything anyway so I’ll keep this short and sweet.
“Am I willing to let her fall harder? Because if I continue on like this, and she finds out, her world will shatter.”
The lead characters; Katia and Marcus. I adored Katia, I could picture her perfectly, a cute, happy lovely person who could easily become your best friend. She fell in love quick and hard but I believed her love for Marcus because she had that personality and it was believable, I wanted more than anything for her to either win Marcus over or to be strong and move on because I wanted her to be happy.
” He ruined my life. He took from me. He broke my heart. He left me this pathetic, pitiful mess.”
Marcus was in some ways a “monster” and in others you just knew there was something softer and kinder deep down but I honestly had no clue whether he would ever let that part of him see the light of day. He was sexy, dangerous, cold, brutal, domineering and one hell of an alpha and I loved him and hated him.
“I let myself open up and when I did, I felt fear. For her. For my wife. I felt a genuine fear something had happened to her. It’s not an emotion I’ve experienced in my life, and it’s nothing I want to experience again. I can’t let her in. This isn’t how it’s meant to go.”
The plot was amazing. It was so intense and literally nail biting stuff. I had no idea which way the story was going to turn and what was going to happen. I loved the twists such as the surprising ‘guest’ that turns up at Marcus’s house causing Katia to faint, to the revelation we get from Marcus toward the end. It also had sexy as all hell sex scenes that were some of the hottest I have read in a long while. It was a short story but it packed so much in.
“Piece of shit. Monster. Asshole. All this shit goes through my head as I leave her, broken. I had to do it. You don’t understand. I had to.”
I am hoping/praying (demanding) that the next in the series doesn’t take too long. That ending left me reeling and feeling heartbroken and honestly I will be one-clicking the next as soon as it’s available. Brilliant thought out characters and brilliant, instead, packed full plot!
