Synopsis

To most people, princes, princesses, counts and dukes are found only in the pages of the most famous of fairytales. Crowns, priceless jewels and gilded thrones belong only in childhood dreams.
But for some, these frivolous fancies are truth.
For some, they are real life.
On Manhattan’s Upper East Side, people have always treated me as someone special. All because of my ancestral name and legacy. All because of a connection I share to our home country’s most important family of all.
I am Caresa Acardi, the Duchessa di Parma. A blue blood of Italy. I was born to marry well. And now the marriage date is set.
I am to marry into House Savona. The family that would have been the royals had Italy not abolished the monarchy in 1946. But to the aristocrats of my home, the abolition means nothing at all.
The Savonas still hold power where it counts most.
In our tight-knit world of money, status and masked balls, they are everything and more.
And I am soon to become one of them.
I am soon to become Prince Zeno Savona’s wife…
… or at least I was, until I met Achille.
And everything changed.

REVIEW

I’ve read pretty much every Tillie Cole book out there.  I went into this expecting an alpha man.  A strong but troubled woman.  Most of her books operate like that, so I have to say that I was seriously surprised by this one.  A Veil of Vines has a historical romance feel.  There is an arranged marriage aspect.  Princes and Princess’ and it is set in a beautiful vineyard.  Tie all of that in with Tillie Cole’s special brand of flowery writing and you have a book that feels REALLY romantic in an old school kind of way that reminded me that I missed that sometimes from the new way of writing in most of todays books.

While this story was a bit predictable, it was still one that pulled at my heartstrings.  It made me feel.  And that is my very idea of an amazing book.  One with all the feels.  Because those feels allow to me to experience so much of the characters.  Those feelings made me every kiss and every caress that much more.

“Our weaknesses are simply our untested wings waiting to be flown.”

This one really touches the heart.  If you are looking for a sweet, romantic, forbidden love story than this one is for you.  It will pull at your heartstrings while still managing to be smoking hot.

“I know because I know it in my head, I feel it in my heart and I touch it with my hands.”
