Synopsis

Parker Cruse despises cheaters. It might have something to do with her boyfriend sleeping with her twin sister.

After a wedding day prank involving a strong laxative, that ends the already severed relationship between the twins, Parker decides to grow up and act twenty-six.

Step One: Move out of her parents’ house.

Step Two: Find a job.

Opportunity strikes when she meets her new neighbor, Gus Westman. He’s an electrician with Iowa farm-boy values and a gift for saying her name like it’s a dirty word.

He also has a wife.

Sabrina Westman, head of a successful engineering firm, hires Parker as her personal assistant. Driven to be the best assistant ever, Parker vows to stay focused, walk the dog, go to the dry cleaners, and not kiss Gus—again.

Step Three: Don’t judge.

Step Four: Remember— when life happens, it does it in a heartbeat.

REVIEW

There is something truly special about Jewel E Ann’s books.  Something that makes me feel.  Sometimes her books make me feel uncomfortable.  Sometimes they make me mad.  Sometimes happy and swoony..  But I ALWAYS feel.  I can always count on her to push my limits of what I think I like as a romance reader and prove me wrong.  And she does.  She takes me out of my generic romance reader box and places me firmly outside of it and I squirm there.  It’s uncomfortable and I sweat and I think to myself Why?  Why the hell is she doing this to me?  I cry.  I shout.  I throw down my kindle.  But I always pick it back up.  And then when the book is all said and done, I have that feeling. You know the one. That complete, I just read the shit out of an amazing book feeling.

I felt all of this and more when reading When Life Happened.  Damn you, Jewel.  Just damn you.  But I loved it and never have you pushed me so far!

This book scintillates.  It breaks you.  And then it puts you back together.  It takes you through every damn emotion you could ever imagine and all the while you cannot put it down.  You will hate these flawed characters as much as you love them.  And you will never forget their story.

5 “Today is my favorite day” stars for When Life Happened.  Go on, take a chance on it.  Feel scandalized.  Get heart broken.  Get put back together.  And then take a big sigh.  You just read an amazing book.
