Review

Wrecking Ball is a beautiful short read about a wife and husband that have a hurdle in their marriage and need to find out if there will allow it to be the end all for their marriage.

Sophia and Brandon Dalton are married with two daughters. Brandon is a professor at a University, while Sophia takes care of the home. But before these two were the American Dream, these two had a steamy relationship. The description for their sex life by Sophia is “comfortable” and when she tells this to her sister, Tia, she remembers a time when Brandon and Sophia were crazy passionate. Meeting in college, Brandon had to chase Sophia. Brandon knew she was something special. She thought he was an arrogant guy that had never been told no. Brandon felt an instant attraction towards Sophia. The banter between both characters depicted the chemistry.

Wrecking ball isn’t just a love story. It takes you on journey of how these two had met, fell in love, and work on their marriage.  Sophia is a very relatable character. As a mother and a wife, I could see myself in her shoes. We, as mothers, tend to put our children and husband before our needs. Her husband persevered in his dreams of tenure but at that he lost his wife in the processes. Sophia with the help of her sister Tia, was able to find the “old” Sophia and it’s in that her husband was able to rekindle their love. Writing style was good, flashbacks were of good quantity. There was a shocking part in the book. But it just emphasized that love is beautiful and don’t take it for granted. Once you find that love, hold on to it because it can be taken from you. I will recommend this book to my girlfriends. 4 smooches for Wrecking Ball.
